FlashingDroid The "bezel less" race is bad in my opinion, I'm OK to reduce the size of those bezels, but not to the point of having notches. Moreover, high screen to body ratio is "not compatible" with front facing speakers, that's why the XZ2 and Pixel 2 XL have a worse screen to body ratio than the others. But this Premium variant could have bit à little bit better I agree
SONY's phones are brilliantly optimized, and their hardware and tech is great, but SONY really does need to find a design that works in terms of being unique but also being up to date with current design trends. At least if they want to get back in the game. Sony is an iconic brand, but they have been struggling with their mobile division. And they need to try something different..... really different.... If they are going to turn their mobile division around. And that has to be the design and the user interface imho. If they can nail that with the fantastic hardware and tech they have then SONY may be onto something. BTW.... The XZP2 smokes the IPhone X in speed in comparison videos on RUclips
This phone really blows my mind. I always liked Xperia but this is on is really special. I can't imagine how good will be the Dual camera of Sony if they do the same with their new 48mp CMOS. I'm using the XZ2 Premium presently. The weight is a real issue. I think a case with a wrist strap is an absolute must for a $1k phone this heavy. I miss my XZ Premium in terms of flatter, more easily held design. But the camera is definitely a high performance smartphone camera and the internals are top notch.
There are very few reviews out there that actually gives Sonys phone where the credit its needed. The swedish mobil magazine "Mobil" actually said it was not a very good camera, and there are lots of reviews that says the same way. All of those are not good at cameras at all. So then we have you, Matthew Monitz, Damir Franc and there was one more I think, that actually all states that they can't understand how so many reviewers could say that this phones is bad, especially on the camera side. The same thing when it comes to XZ3. Its ludacrious how todays media and youtubers are biased. I am certain that Erica Griffin also would have loved this Sony phones, but she cant afford to review them anymore because she do not get units to review. And she always been an ok reviewer of Sony phones.
Thats why i love Sony, and nobody is looking at it, only Samsung and Apple im sick of that fans just dont know nothing! Im loving xperia x for years and now it is time for a upgrade, ill go for this one and is going to be amazing, thanks for the great review! I agree with everything you have said completely, its biggest flaw is its design, bezels, bulky and heavy. If only Sony just reduced all that and added a 3.5mm headphone with finger print sensor on the side this phone would be flawless. But it's still an exceptional phone even with the drawbacks.

Like your reviews. Slight correction. The cameras and fingerprint sensor are placed vertically in portrait...unless you mean when holding the phone in landscape mode. I used to be confused until thinking about the word horizon. 😊
I am close to buy the mate 20X but... i can not find a comparison with xz2 premium between those models (some mate 20 pro could be enough is the same camera). Could you please do a low light comparison? I think mate 20 is clearly worse than p20 pro then this comparison could be the best in the world as show how mate 20 pro is worse than xz2 premium without any doubt! as they remove the monocrome sensor in the mate 20 pro then the performance in low light now is worse... please can you do this test!!! thanksssss!!!!! Biggest question, does the wifi work? I have a XZ2 and the wifi on Sonys OS doesn't work. Had to push Android P in order for my Wifi to work. So I lose out on that great camera and dynamic vibration. #sad
htc u12 plus is better than the sony in everyway much better design(very thin bezels and phone is also very thin(8.7mm) when compared to sony's (12mm),great speakers,headphones,display,touchscreen and camera.It is also the fastest phone.htc u12+ is actually even faster than iphone x there are videos on youtube that prove that.

How is the shutter speed on the XZ2P?
S Saini never reached more than 1/15 in auto mode. While manual mode can extend that to 1s, using both lenses
FlashingDroid I've never used manual mode settings in any Sony phone, but using xz2 premium the ISO is convenient and more practical

Honestly, when it comes to bezel size, I like the htc u12 and the xperia xz2 best. Something in between is the golden point for me.
Tommychoc ipx’s form factor has been my golden point, but this phone rocks, that camera is insane
