Smart by Taylor. Landed his shots and then clinched Papi to negate any counter shots coming his way. Papi looked lost after the 1st round. His form and footwork were very sloppy and he constantly overstepped into range which negated his ability to effectively counter. With Taylor ducking into the clinch so often, Papi should have been throwing uppercuts up the middle or a pull counter to punish Taylor for throwing those wide right hooks. Papi looked underprepared and idk what their game plan was but it either was an awful gameplan or Papi simply got caught up in the moment and didn’t execute on his teams plan. Making this a 3 round fight was not smart either. 3 rounds leaves zero room for any adjustments, not that his coaches seemed to even attempt to tell him what he should be doing between rounds. Disappointing effort from him tbh

Taylor played this really smart. He didn't try to walk Salt Papi down which is what they expected. Instead, he stepped back, countered, and clinched to run the clock and drain Salt's energy. There are many things Salt can improve upon, but I think he'd be even more dangerous if he had the right hook like Pacquiao.

Salt has the talent & skill. His left jab is fast and dangerous however I noticed how open he was to be hit. Didn’t see enough defense that’s why his fighter easily connected, engaged powerless punches and scored. His style has been the same. It became predictable for his adversaries.
Everything changed after this fight. From being the scary dangerous one and avoided by most contenders to a boxer whose opponents want to fight for sure after what came by.
Therefore, he should significantly improve. Team SP must work on his cardio, defense and be strategically smart. Even-less, he has a great boxing future. I believe he can step up again.

If you are stronger than your opponent you clinch them, press them with your bodyweight and strength it gets them tired and when they are tired it makes
a TKO/KO easier. You fend off power strikers like salt papi, he doesn't have any strike sets just power shots. So engaging then using the clinch to disengage is a great stratagem to win fight. Papi did really solid the 1st round and then first minute of 2nd round, he got too aggressive though idk if it was the 3 rounds or if he got too confident and didn’t stick to the plan.

Regardless of the result I’m rocking with Salt Papi. This is Salt Papi 4th fight and the jump from Josh Brueckner to Anthony Taylor is a big big jump. Win, lose or draw I’m with him. People will switch up on him but I won’t. Nobody wanted to fight him so he had to fight a fighter.
When he gets his eye laser surgery it’s OVER for everyone. Amazing he was able to go all rounds with minimal sight but wait just wait.
#SaltSeason is still in affect ✨🧂

Not really a bigfan of AT tactic by clinching with punch to score again and again but hey it works on Salt cause this is probably the first time he experience this kind of fight, anyway congrats to AT he deserve it.

@@RRich100 salt papi is literally the taller fighter what do you mean? And no Anthony was clearly more skilled hence why HE WON THE FIGHT. A "skilled" fighter sticks to his game plan and does everything he needs to do to win. Cry about the hugging all you want, utilizing the clinch in boxing is a skill. As the shorter fighter you need to fight on the inside because your opponent has the reach advantage, which is why Anthony kept clinching after avoiding salt papi's punches and tiring him out with punches on the inside

@@schofrenzy3444 no it’s not clinching when you’re literally winning the whole fight yet you chose to continuously run at your opponent to grab and hold them after every significant punch. You’re supposed clinch as a DEFENSE when you’re getting wailed on at close proximity- or when you’re up against the ropes and you need to regain clarity for example. This guys is just afraid to get hit or really likes to be pressed up against salt because it’s not like he was heavier than him and weighing him down or something.
