I tried over and over to make that jump in traverse town as a kid and i eventually just gave up and thought it was impossible. Blows my mind to learn that it's not only possible but actually breaks the game.
With my understanding of how games work essentially every major cutscene the game flags it as progress, which help notify when to rearrange all the NPCs, but is also a very stable way to ensure Players cannot accomplish any Skips in a playthrough. Monster Hunter World progress is also designated by flagging cutscenes ensuring that every player has to play the game EXACTLY as the Devs intended.
I actually knew about the initial jump in Traverse Town but I didn't realize you could enter the shops without flagging the cutscene after doing it. It is really interesting that they have the generic NPC shopkeeper in place of Cid for that instance though, wonder why given you're not even supposed to be able to get there at that point and Cid is there directly after the cutscene.
Didn't think it was possible to soft-lock KH1, nice work fellow Pikasprey fan! I'm curious to see if it's possible to soft-lock KH:ReCom by having Riku level up on B12 despite not having the opportunity to upgrade your DP yet. I always assumed the game would crash if you maxed out your HP and attack power in Hollow Bastion, but it would take ages to find out.
dude, when I was a kid playing kingdom hearts 1 and had no idea what softlocking was. I got suck and I ended up skipping the game to go play kh2 instead.
I got softlock myself. is returning to Travis's town.I was going to the area. And needed to go but then when I entered the area And then I got stuff locked because I was on the ground.Of Where the boss fight would start
It's pretty insane I'm still learning things about this game 20 years later
Soft "Lock" and no heartless. Sora did it. He locked the keyhole in the most bizarre way possible.
That traverse town glitch is basically what would happen if Sora never found Donald and Goofy.
donald and goofy are pointless to the plot they say
I never knew about these! Excellent video, ElbowJuice! 👑💙
you're the first person I've seen mention the jump that breaks traverse town
really cool find for deep jungle
Pretty interesting idea for a video, good job man. (Also using save slot 69 for the first one, nice)

I got stuck in KH1 when I was little lmao. Didn't beat the game until I restarted the game when I was like 15.
Knew about Traverse Town, but cool find on Deep Jungle!

I want to say the game would probably let you just upgrade your DP after there's no other stat to increase
WOW!!!
Never knew about the deep jungle softlock. You would think that the devs would add an invisible wall in the fight but I guess not lol
And here I thought I knew everything about KH1, silly me
