@@hanierfamily "slave to the rhythm" by grace jones is in my top ten of songs i like it was produced by trevor horn of the Buggles do you guys know a song by Frankie Goes To Hollywood called welcome to the pleasure dome, this was produced by trevor horn as well
I'm Scottish, they're Scottish, but they are one of those bands I virtually ignored growing up, then rediscovered later. They are still around, though its not entirely the original, classic line up. I remember reading somewhere that they are one of the most sampled acts ever.
When they lost Robbie McIntosh, it really wasn't quite the same. Their second album, "AWB" is great front to back, and you will definitely hear the difference between that and this later stuff. Now here's a good idea for your comparison songs; The Isley Brothers "Work to Do", and AWB's cover of that song.
Cool. Now I know *two* of their songs 😊 The other one being 'Put It Where You Want It', via an Old Grey Whistle Test clip in which singer/guitarist Hamish Stuart has a *massive* ginger 'fro 😄
Happy holidays to you guys. I'm a former on air radio DJ that worked back in the mid 70s to late 70s then again in the 90s. Anyway in case your not to familiar with this groups history? They are a Scottish group. They had 3 to 4 hits in their history . Anyway thought ya might wanna know that.
They had 14 hits and 5 straight platinum albums. I'm 64 years old in three weeks. This band was the reason I started playing trumpet and saxophone. AWB was primarily a funk band. This was a pivotal point for AWB, Alan Gorrie, the founding member wanted to go more commercial style while Hamish Stuart wanted to keep the funk going which caused a bitter breakup.
Listen to these next: Cut the Cake and Cloudy from their Person to Person live album. These are so different and much better than their studio versions. Studio versions of these: School Boy Crush has such a fat bass you will gain 10 pounds! Work to Do, a great Isley Brother’s song. The Jugglers, it is so funky! A Love of Your Own
Rather strange: Hamish Stuart and AWB have been a recurring theme, ever since I'd watched this video yesterday early afternoon! 😄 First a mate of mine mentioned them while we were driving to a gig together last night, and only moments ago Adam Reader (a.k.a. The Professor of Rock) said that Hamish Stuart is currently a member of Ringo Starr's Allstar Band! 😀 And I hardly even *know* the Average White Band! 😅
I remember when this song was released. Great song. Any song that makes you want to boogie has to be good
Let’s go round the bend 😅 I genuinely thought that was the lyric for years ! Great track from my fellow sons of Scotland 🏴
👍🏴
Impressive video find! I didn't even think there was a video.
I love this song, along with Pick Up The Pieces, Cut The Cake, Person to Person etc ,and my favourite AWB song is If I Ever Lose This Heaven.
Their Person to Person live album has the best versions of Cut the Cake and Cloudy! They are way better than their studio cuts. Give them a listen.
Totally second this comment!
Once again thank you for playing one of my songs I put forward
I'm glade you liked it, its a banging tune!
It's great, yes. Thank you.

It wasn't a band I ever bothered about when I was younger either but some of their stuff isn't too bad.
I just heard that Hamish Stuart is currently a member of Ringo Starr's Allstar Band 🙂

“Cut the Cake”, “Cloudy”, “For you,For love” and many more
Cut the Cake and Cloudy from their live Person to Person album are fantastic! Way better than their studio versions!
GREAT SCOTTISH BAND, ONE OF MANY 😊

A surprisingly common thing to see in Scotland back in the day!

One of the best bands of the 70s
Can I again recommend Bozo Skeleton by Lard ? No stress , I just know you’ll love the bass and Jello Biafras words

Before this channel, we only knew Pick Up The Pieces by them.
@@hanierfamily - I just looked that one up, and it actually does seem vaguely familiar to me, too. Definitely those trumpet runs in the intro! 🙂
Pick Up the Pieces was their biggest hit.
And what a great song!
These guys reacting their delivery is too slow really need step it up a few gears.
