I have just had one of these sent by a viewer for my 'Pimp My Filter' video series and it looks very good so far. I'll be shooting the video over the next few days and it will probably be around number 20 in the series - so far I have 16 different filter upgrade videos uploaded in that series so it will likely be 1-2 weeks until I upload number 20. Here's hoping that it's a good one.
It is a scheduled video due to be uploaded either this weekend or mid next week. I think I'm only up to 17 episodes in that series as far as live videos go but I do have a few queued up for upload. When I add videos to a playlist they will be viewable by anyone looking at that playlist but won't be sent out to subscribers as a new upload until it is made public.
found the filter unit for £240 which looks brilliant from what av seen on Pondguru,s channel its a bloody beast of a filter gonna set me back 150 quid just for media to fill it tho haha then on top gotta buy the UV yep working out to be one expensive filter all in all but at the same time don't think any other filter could match it set up right to be fair. It would have been nice to hear it running it the setup video
To be honest the media choice is rather sup bar which makes the canister work sub par. Ceramic rings are useless as both mechanical and biological filtration and those plastic rings has no business in a canister at all as the surface area for bacteria to grow on is very limited compared to some of the better alternatives. Literally thousands of times more surface area. They would work better in a moving bed filter. You should have put in 4 layers of around 3 cm thick foam starting with a coarse 10 ppi foam then 20, 30 and 40 ppi foam. After that two thick layers of fine poly pad maybe 4-5 cm thick all in all. That is your basic mechanical filtration done correctly. Contact Seachem and make some sort of deal with them regarding Purigen and add this as an extra bonus for those looking for crystal clear water. For bio media you can cheap out and buy pumice just like Seachem and their popular Matrix media. There are some other great cheap altrnatives with great surface area as well.
Can't help but think I'd still rather buy a used eheim 2080 or 2260 for this money. They put the price up by £35 as soon as PondGuru dropped his video on these
Hi nice product you have I wish to buy one for myself for 400liter tank what will be cost in Indian rupee and shipping costs please do reply thanks RAJAN THANGARAJ from Bangalore
I bought the Unimax 500 and i have to say it was the worst canister filter I have ever owned. I just threw it in the dumpster. Having to deal with 4 hoses on a unit that could have easily used 2 was messy and obtrusive. The filter comes with about 50 plastic pieces that you somehow have to work out how they fit together. The flow rate is pathetic for a filter of this size (another reason I question why they needed 2 outlets). Getting it started is a nightmare - the little pump on top of the filter does nothing. Cleaning it is a mess because the baskets are higher than the canister bottom so when you open it, water spews everwhere.....i could go on and on....I wasted a lot of money on the unit - you've been warned.

That was a great review Richard. I have two of these 700’
Thank you for the video. What a monster of a filter! Perfect if you have a really large aquarium. I wish we could get Aquael in the US.
Great cannister. Huge trays and easily modified 👌
After seeing Pondguru's video, we're all wondering where to get them in the U.S.
Don't bother - awful filter - just thew mine in the trash.
@@TONY_FEZ I've been using it for 4 years, Where's the "Trashy" part?

Always good to buy used...that way you can help propagate someone else's disease pathogens...
In the u.s.?
Can I purchase one in U.S.A.?
If not, where can I have one sent to me?
Thank you for answering my questions
Steve, major problem would be the voltage EU 220 vs the US 120. They do have both Metric and US gallon measurements so maybe a US version is coming?
