New Forbidden Druid 2 Live Rave Review

- Forbidden's Druid 2 is a uniquely radical trail bike that I couldn't help raving about. Find out why as I charge down and claw back up some of the sickest trails I know in high pivot hysteria.

You know the bike is fun when Guy froths out this hard on it when riding
Now that’s the kind of Guy Kesteven rave I really love about this channel :D
Cheers mate, these are the bikes I really love testing so I guess it shows
Love it when you are soooo excited about a bike!! 👏
Couldn't help myself from this one. I was absolutely knackered after 6 hours on the nail the day before but that Druid just flies!
That was awesome Guy! Looks like a fantastic bike
It's just an absolute riot to ride
Proud to see Canadian bike brands get recognition. Would love to see your review on a Transition Smuggler!
They are designed in Canada, and manufactured in Tawain.
I keep coming back to this test.. The buzz this bike seems to create! I must try one asap
Yeah you really should, really miss not having it around
When a video is therapeutic to watch because of the smooth flow, you know it's a great bike. Another fantastic review Guy 😃
Glad it was therapeutic and flowy for you Dude, it was definitely spicy in places for me 🤣
@@GuyKesTV It sure looked like you were having a tonne of fun and that's what counts. Hopefully you get the chance to do a review of the 2023 Merida One Forty 700. It just won trail bike of the year with MBUK/Bikeradar. I think I'm going to push the button and get one.
Would love to try one out. Riding the dreadnought as a main bike, but it is just too burly for most of the trails where I live. Was superb though in Finale Ligure. Looks a bit strange now though, I really do like the simple look of the "old" rear end of both the druid and the dread.
Guy, did the S3 feel a bit long in the twisty bits of the trails? I’m 191 cm tall and our trails are generally tight, twisty single track with lots of rocky ledges and drops with punchy climb, technical climbs. I can’t decide if an S3 or S4 would be better suited for my type of trails.
Guy, I bought the previous gen Forbidden partially based on the strength of your raving review and the bike rips! Glad the stuck with the fundamental elements that made it so good and just made it even more better. Sick bikes, sick brand, what else do you need?
Exactly, glad you're enjoying your Druid
The bike is insane and so are the trails 😢
Anyone can compare the Forbidden Druid V2 to the Scor 4060 ST? Stuck between the 2
Maybe the next one Guy. For now just built a Banshee Prime and absolutely loving it. I seem to always end up with Canadian Bikes. The old Maverick ML8 has been reluctantly let go of and the RSD Middlechild is on the way out of the stable to. I'm now 50 odd LBS lighter on my cycling journey and the Prime doesn't know what slow means.
I'm shedding a tear for the ML8 but stoked you're loving the Banshee. Wish they were easier to get here
Let’s not talk about it…grown men don’t cry😂
6:35 love how you don’t even acknowledge the pheasant running across 😂
I only saw it when I was editing 🤣
Love forbidden bikes - fun burly bikes.
Where are you riding?
So did you like it?.... it wasn't coming through on the video 😂. Great point about capable bikes....I think maybe it's why we see a rise in HT and gravel. A bike should make you enjoy those woah moments.....and actively encourage you to do more 👍
Exactly this!
Hey I see some 2022 druid frames $1-1.2k off, do you feel like I shouldn't hesitate to build up the older frame if I'm on a tight budget? What would I really be missing from the new design?
The older Druid is a bit shorter and steeper and the suspension feels more 'weird' in terms of rear end stretch at first, but if you're on a tight budget it's still a brilliant bike for sure
@@GuyKesTV Holy crap after doing more research on the Druid I just found a guy called Rhys Verner who is racing and WON the Squamish enduro race on the new one, still stock 130 rear with a coil and a 160 Zeb. If that doesn't say anything about this bikes potential nothing does!!
@@LastAphelion Oh yeah, I wasn't joking when I said this thing shifts. If anything the older bike has even more capable suspension in terms of straight line jank speed but the handling takes a bit longer to get used to
Great video 👍 im considering to get one myself. Although i was wondering if it could be possible to install a 185x55 shock instead of the stock 50mm stroke...
Is the "bridge" at the upper end of the seatstay very close to make contact with the seattube when fully bottomed out or do you think there's room for a little more travel?
I'm not supposed to tell you this but I asked the same question and they did try it with 55mm and while it works in the CAD drawings there's enough frame flex under peak load that you'll potentially get contact between the frame and the swingarm. 135mm travel is enough anyway, believe me!
@@GuyKesTV so 52.5mm stroke should be fine?hmm
When’s the new dreadnought v2 coming out?
I get the feeling you like this bike..
I saw your recent tall boy review how do you compare it to the Druid?
I'd say the Druid is a lot closer to the Bronson and Hightower in vibe than the Tallboy.
Druid vs Bronson sometime?
Be interesting for you to test the new deviate highlander 2 against this
I've got one on the way for that exact purpose 👍
@@GuyKesTV awesome great work
Did this ever pan out?
Where are you riding here?
Maybe you said where you were riding but is it something you can share?
message me on @guykestV on insta 👍
Dang, wouldn’t mind giving one a demo
Be very careful. It's now the only bike I want to ride!
That’s my concern, I was looking at getting an enduro rig for the big days/bike parks on the bike but this might cover and do all I need!
@@Ry_Rides I'd say defo get a demo if you can. I've not ridden the dread but I've heard it pedals pretty well but also that it's basically a DH bike when it comes to the speed it likes to go. New Druid is much more of a daily driver but the stuff it blasts through with just 130mm of travel is nuts
Demoing this weekend, think I best take my wallet 😂
How tall are you please ? I’m about 1,80 m and i’ve got a M size on a dreadnought but i want a druid v2 because the dreadnought is too big for french enduro racing ahah
Cheers
I’m 180cm but with short legs so 745mm from BB to saddle top. S3 fitted me great
@@GuyKesTV thanks ! I’m 180 too but i got some hesitation for the s3, bike looks so long in term of geometry
Did you end up buying this bike or a different one?
@@DieterVanHolder yup, I take a size 2
@@emericlardet2001 what kind of trails do you ride and how do you like it compared to the dreadnought
Is this a full 29? Or the mix wheel?
This is the full 29 but I've got the mixed wheel bike as a longtermer for MBR magazine now. First video coming as soon as I've invisframed it
@@GuyKesTV any reason why you choose a mullet on this bike?
Why are people talking about a 14.7 kg bike like it weighs 20kg?
Who is? That's very light these days!
@@flippy66 at 10:55 he says 14.77 seems pretty heavy. There was a meme where it made 15 kg aluminum bikes seem far heavier than carbon bikes, but in my expirience there isn't that much of a difference.
How does it climb?
It’s a little heavy for a 130mm bike but the grip and the fact it just rolls up and over steps is awesome.
I have just been up at stainburn on my dreadnought thinking i want a druid again, and this pops up. Must keep the wallet closed....
You only live once 😜
I was so close to getting a Dreadnought. Got an amazing deal on a carbon everything Revel Rail though. Still haven’t nailed all the climbs at Stainburn though! 😅
@@chimps4gimps Which ones you got left to clean?
The traversing climb from the bottom of the decent line usually claims me as a victim, never in the same spot though
Looks like Forbidden “copied” Deviate’s idler design.
High pivot bikes with idlers have been around since last century with bikes from Balfa, Trek and others
I was talking about the idler pulley design itself, not the high pivot bike concept.
@@bikedude019 sorry my bad. Yes definite similarities and I’m waiting for a Deviate to test soon so very interested to compare the two
you profesional 25 years rider and every review the same. waste of time.
