Beautiful build!! Just a little thought, when I had my ladder exposed like that I found someone climbing on my roof attempting to steal my solar and a/c unit. What I did was I put sheet metal over the length of the ladder, with a security lock on the bottom....makes it harder for someone to access your rooftop!👍👍👍👍
I've had my rv 44 years now and I took off the ladder back in 1991 after crossing the border because I had 3 big dumb galoots from the migra up on my roof and I yelled at them, it takes 3 big dumb galoots to look at a flat roof wtf your going to cave in my roof it's not a rental, and there reply was that we're doing our job and my reply was you want to do your job then go down to the river everybody knows that's where the drugs cross dum ass , I was pissed, well after that I spent 1000 dollars in material replacing the roof and I did all of the work. No more ladder no more problems , I get on the roof through the escape hatch up in front from my queen size bedroom not a problem 👌
Pretty sure I've probably watched every skoolie video on RUclips over the last few years. So I have to say it. YOU ARE THE MAN!!! Wow what a great job!!!
That is one awesome camper you have there. I'm no stranger to homemade campers. Our family started out with a 1953 GMC 36 passenger school bus, that my dad build into a camper, and then watched and helped him build 3 more campers over the years. All our campers have been to Florida and California and up the western sea board back home to Canada. Great memories growing up.
I can't wait to see more videos I'm currently working on my skoolie. I'm thinking about slide outs but I have no idea how to do that. Cant wait for more videos! Awesome work you have done.
@@diyalaskanlifestyle that makes me want to add a similar system to our 40’ Thomas!...Although I’m designing a drop down patio deck for that extra space, but first raise the roof 20”! ...Maybe the mini camping schoolie would be a the one for the pullout🤷🏽♂️ Great work on yours!
Really love the skoolie conversion. My concept would be more live/work where it can serve as a mobile production unit for filming and editing on location.
I have a 40ft 1977 AMC Bus. I wanna install slide-outs, can you point me in the right direction for installation/where did you get the slide-outs? Thanks.
I removed the slide outs/hardware from a toy hauler that had a small fire in it. If you take good measurements and remove all hardware you’ll be able to do this pretty easily. if not lots of time & engineering which I’m not against and usually the route I take
I hate to pry but what do you do for a living to be able to do all this. I can only wish one day to live as wholesome as you and your family. God bless!
I have watched a ton of these videos but Lord have mercy " This Takes the Cake ! and I mean every world out of my little brian. ---- I know it's a labour of love ,but would you make one if some one ask you for a custom build one like it just asking ? I think you have a fantastic home on wheels every thing is spectuclar ! Cheers!
I have a hard time seeing through the window, I’d put the window as high as possible or maybe a small window above the door. I might install a camera so I can see out that side of the bus. Other then that it’s awesome and the look I was going for
@@diyalaskanlifestyle how about the height of the skoolie. Is roof too close to your head? How much space would you say is there between your head and the roof? And the 30k is including the bus? And is that slide out being a problem? I am guessing it's automatic?
@@omgsam7185 I put a drop ceiling in mine, the only reason I raised the roof 2’ is to be able to get the slides in it without too much modifications. 12” raise is plenty if you are only raising for head clearance. I bought the bus for $1500 back when you could get them cheap
Thanks for the tour. It looks great! Unfortunately, it’s hard to hear everything you’re saying because of the background music. We’d love to see more content without the music.
Thanks for the input, This was my first video and I was really struggling with the audio, I think I have it somewhat figured out now so audio should be more clear in the upcoming videos
Your build STILL stands out as one of the best for that slide out and raise! I love it! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Have a switch inside that you can use to hit that ladder with a 10,000 volt charge.
That will modify their attitude.

Motorized gearing for the pull out or are you using a hydraulic or pneumatic system?
Cable with electric motor, I’ll be putting together another more detailed video of the slides soon

The 488 Inn , if it was mine I'd call it the 420 express , sweeeeet
love your intro! 😁
Wow, you are a talented guy
Thanks, it was a lot of work
The slideouts don't compromise structural integrity?
It probably does a little bit but I did weld a pretty heavy duty frame for the slides to sit in
Probably the most unique build. How much did this end up costing you?
I didn’t keep track prob 20-30k but a lot of my man hrs
Where do your kids sleep, do the living room couches convert into beds?
Yes the couch folds down and we have a blow up mattress
how much did it cost to add the slide out?
Looks nice
Thank you
Wicked,, love it!!
How did you install the slide?
I’ll have another video out soon with the slide install
This is a very nice bus
Thank you
Can awning come out with fridge slide extended out ?
Yep
let know if its up for sale
What was the total cost?
Great job
Thank you
✨N o i c e✨

Nice work
Novice question: how much did it cost and can we buy one??
I didn’t keep track, if I had to guess prob30k I do think there is some guys down in the states building or atleast doing the roof raises for people

Is it called 488 because it is 488 square feet with the slide outs..just thought i would take a guess..
I called it that because 488 it is the prefix of our phone numbers in North Pole.
❤
🤩🤩🤩🤩
How does insurance work with something like this
It was easy for me it’s registered as an RV
While the time and effort in this build is obvious, this is no skoolie. No individuality at all. I guess if your into the RV vibe it would be great.
