Hell, I'd do it for free just to give them a chance to experience a con semi-normally again. I'd be pretty bummed too if I traveled almost across the world to a con and couldn't enjoy more then 2 steps out of a private room to experience it outside of signings and a panel. At least some cons will give guests and staff an hour before or after the con to enjoy everything before the public are let in, but that still isn't as incredible (especially if you're there for cosplay or something that involves regular people).
It's also cringe with how people are dictating what the boys are gonna do without them saying anything themselves. One upvoted comment on Reddit was stating they're not coming to cons anymore and I'm like bruh thats not for u to decide

As someone who just went to a con (literally yesterday and the day before) I can confirm that wearing a full cosplay is a great disguise for more famous influencers that get stopped every 5 seconds. I was talking with one of my cosplay idols yesterday for ages and I didn’t even realise it was them cause they were debuting a new cosplay. Also I can also confirm that there were SO MANY genshin cosplayers.
Yes I have been living under a rock, and I am genuinely so sorry to hear that this happened to the boys. No amount of "we should have expected this" will make what happened any less scary. All of the talks about parasocial relationships, as well as seeing some pretty large RUclipsrs just out and about, really have made me more aware and critical of my parasocial feelings towards the people I watch. Once again, sorry that this happened to you all.
It's 100% MCM's fault. They should have provided security for them, especially if what I heard about the guy was originally banned but was let back in for some reason is true, and because there shouldn't be people throwing shit at them. That's their responsibility to take.
From what I heard the reason the guy was unbanned was because MCM changed ownership and the ban was lost somewhere in the transfer. I absolutely agree they should have had security though, I work in security and it made me SO angry when I saw that guy jump up on stage. I've literally seen convenience stores with more security than that shit.
Not sure why MCM had no security, maybe all the top dogs are boomers who didn't know RUclips or Twitch well enough. Also, do security guards need certain physical requirements - weight, height, technical security skills?
Honestly the security throughout the entire con was dogshit. Like none of the bag checks were done correctly, people were apparently getting in with old tickets (somehow) etc etc. Saturday was especially bad though. I've talked to a few people that were also there, and we all pretty much agree that it must've been way over capacity that day. The whole weekend was just kinda scuffed all around

What really upsets me about this is that the guy who went onstage wasn't even explicitly a fan of trash taste. There were reports of him harassing other panelists at this event and previous mcm events. I understand why they have to get security but this man shouldn't be a representation of trash taste fans.

Yup. Some people ignore those rules but once the ground rules are set it should be easier to be like “I’m sorry but no I’m not answering that.” And the handler should also step in if not before you say no. But this is also con by con.
The guy that asked "how shit of a mother would you be?" to Sydney is just full on disrespectful and Im glad sydney handled it well by answering the sydney that we see in trash taste which is her real personality.

There's a story about Marilyn Monroe (I don't even know if it's true) of her doing a walking interview, on the street, and with nothing covering her face. And it's like people couldn't see her. Even the interviewer questioned her about it. She said it's because she's not "acting" like Marilyn Monroe. Next, she starts "acting" like Marilyn, with the walk and the facial expressions and the entire street was like "oh, shit. It's Marilyn Monroe!". I don't know if this is useful info but it seemed appropriate given the topic.
Honestly I don't think it's even about how much trash taste you watch or whether you're on the subreddit, it's just common sense that there are boundaries and that it's not okay to be cringe or try to invade privacy
I feel like you guys would be okay in Australian conventions, like I was working in a booth one year and the girl who played Luna Lovegood was just wandering around with her handler and it seemed pretty chill
I queued 4 hours on Sunday to get picture + signature with Connor and Joey and it was worth it :D I was very nervous though, I didn't think I would be that much of a simp. In the picture with Joey I look like an overstimulated kid who just ate too many candies. Also I forgot to bring an item to sign but luckily I had a white tote bag available and I had that one signed. Anyway the boys were really nice even if it was Sunday afternoon and I appreciate them not charging for pictures or signature. They were available for a chat and very nice with everyone. I also saw Garnt at the hotel (Novotel?) later that afternoon but I was too shy to approach him and didn't want to invade his privacy, but that made the experience whole so I can now confirm that the boys are indeed real!
I don't know who needs to hear this but don't heckle during a panel or try to go on stage or invade people's personal space. Just respect them and their privacy and treat them how you would any other human.
As someone who was there one of the days but failed to get an autograph because i didn’t join the queue at 9 and wait for 3 hours all I can say is - I’m shocked that the boys are real
It's crazy. In some ways, it feels like TT started a few months ago, but on the other hand it feels like it's something that's just always been around for years. I am so glad it's taken off so crazily well though. It's given the boys a great creative outlet, has helped them all grow, connected people to different channels and people, it's just crazy. Trash Taste is just really one of those things that are peak examples of internet culture (I mean that in the unironic way) showing what it can do, reaching heights and accomplishments previously thought impossible. I can't wait to see what is coming up, and am so happy for everyone.

I love these guys literally grew up and loved learning about new anime every week from “The Anime Zone” or some Nice Sebastian VA from The CDawg Moke’ VA … Even some old school pixel JRPG series from “The Anime Man” himself… Truly I think people support and love this Podcast so much because of the fact you three directed RUclips Itself into a anime craze that in my opinion made the west be a lot more open to the Japanese Culture. First of all, I'm so glad to know that you're all okay after such a terrifying incident. I didn't even know about it and I've said this already on Joey's channel but it shouldn't even matter if you're a big star, a little star, whatever kind of celebrity status, you were guests. They should have taken your safety into account regardless of whether or not anything could have happened because should something even more serious happen, it would have been too late. I don't really want to be too harsh to criticise how they do things but the lack of security was a disappointment. As you said, it's the biggest con in the UK so things could have happened and in my personal opinion, with Tom Hiddleston, I just assume he bought his own security which is why no one would have dared to do anything. All in all, I am proud of you boys to have come this far. It is a learning experience and I'm excited to see all of you grow.

Yeah it’s kind of weird but to be honest what they’re dealing with seems fairly low tier, I mean as far as celebrities go… They haven’t even hit the crazy shit yet. It’s only because they were at an anime convention, if they were anywhere else I don’t think people would know who they were or care. As a non-Brit who has experienced meal deals on my trips to England, here's my order: For the main, I go for a Hoisin duck wrap. Snack is Kettle Salt & Vinegar OR pickled onion Monster Munch. Drink is negotiable, but I find myself going for the Monster when I first land, because I need the energy after a flight.

the staff who said this has never happened... they must have been newbies. It's happened before. Anime got added to MCM around 2006 (may have been 2005?) and stuffed happened. A lot of stuff happened. And if bare in mind that MCM didn't use to have anime (Movies, Comics & Media Expo is what MCM stands for) this convention has been going for a VERY long time and should know basic needs. If you go to Insomnia (gaming con in UK) you'll see even though it's not as big as MCM they give their guests security and a safe place to go (usually known as Green Room) which I used multiple times and never felt like I'd be in any harm. But at MCM I was attacked many times and there was no place I felt safe to go apart from my hotel room. Even then I was not completely safe cos I still got rushed at by some random person during BREAKFAST.
I went to a con for the TV show Once Upon a Time in Paris that was in a hotel, which was obviously a much smaller event than MCM and every guest had security guards with them everywhere they went.
It's funny that Trash Taste goes to an Anime convention when they hardly talk about anime in the actual podcast 🤣. Overall congrats boys in all the hard work you have put in the last 2 years the podcast have kept me entertained.

When Connor was talking about the weird interaction he had with the guy who was following him and trying to introduce himself to everyone in Trash Taste, I think the best thing to do in that situation is to be straightforward and politely refuse that person, but offer an autograph, photo, or merch as consolation. Let them know that you can't give special treatment to fans as a matter of company policy because it incentivizes negative fan interactions so they don't feel like you rejected them on a personal level. That way, you can reject them without making them feel betrayed.
To be fair he met the guy at 1am at a bar where everyone had been drinking, in the hotel at an anime convention. I think just simply saying he wanted to spend some time with his friends and that this was not the right or good time would have been enough.
I always find it interesting when youtubers talk about their con stories. On one side, I can understand someone wanting to get a photo with the person they look up to if they see them on the floor. But a larger part of me feels bad for any creator who wants to keep their individuality when they're done "preforming" idk, im a very socially anxious person and the idea of trying to get somewhere and constantly being stopped is my nightmare. I do feel like we're slightly improving on how we view creators though so maybe this won't be an issue in the future

It's 100% MCM's fault. They should have provided security for them, especially if what I heard about the guy was originally banned but was let back in for some reason is true, and because there shouldn't be people throwing shit at them. That's their responsibility to take.
From what I heard the reason the guy was unbanned was because MCM changed ownership and the ban was lost somewhere in the transfer. I absolutely agree they should have had security though, I work in security and it made me SO angry when I saw that guy jump up on stage. I've literally seen convenience stores with more security than that shit.
Not sure why MCM had no security, maybe all the top dogs are boomers who didn't know RUclips or Twitch well enough.
Also, do security guards need certain physical requirements - weight, height, technical security skills?

Honestly the security throughout the entire con was dogshit. Like none of the bag checks were done correctly, people were apparently getting in with old tickets (somehow) etc etc.
Saturday was especially bad though. I've talked to a few people that were also there, and we all pretty much agree that it must've been way over capacity that day. The whole weekend was just kinda scuffed all around

I'm amazed at how much dedication the bois have for making videos on time. I honestly wouldn't mind waiting an extra week for an episode, but despite being away they still made a temporary setup. I'm impressed and respect the dedication bois.

I feel like the cringe questions are inevitable lol What I noticed that helps, is if one of the con-volunteers makes an announcement of questions you can and cannot ask. Same with the list of things you can and cannot do. Just have that prepared before a panel starts, because there’s always one or two people that are either crazy fanatics or disrespectful to the rules 🙄 Yall are at RUclips celebrity status. You’ll need rules and security for your comfort.

I feel like you guys would be okay in Australian conventions, like I was working in a booth one year and the girl who played Luna Lovegood was just wandering around with her handler and it seemed pretty chill
I queued 4 hours on Sunday to get picture + signature with Connor and Joey and it was worth it :D I was very nervous though, I didn't think I would be that much of a simp. In the picture with Joey I look like an overstimulated kid who just ate too many candies. Also I forgot to bring an item to sign but luckily I had a white tote bag available and I had that one signed. Anyway the boys were really nice even if it was Sunday afternoon and I appreciate them not charging for pictures or signature. They were available for a chat and very nice with everyone. I also saw Garnt at the hotel (Novotel?) later that afternoon but I was too shy to approach him and didn't want to invade his privacy, but that made the experience whole so I can now confirm that the boys are indeed real!

It's crazy. In some ways, it feels like TT started a few months ago, but on the other hand it feels like it's something that's just always been around for years.
I am so glad it's taken off so crazily well though. It's given the boys a great creative outlet, has helped them all grow, connected people to different channels and people, it's just crazy.
Trash Taste is just really one of those things that are peak examples of internet culture (I mean that in the unironic way) showing what it can do, reaching heights and accomplishments previously thought impossible.
I can't wait to see what is coming up, and am so happy for everyone.
I feel like it's the only podcast I've watched since episode one and ever after 100 episodes they've managed to stay relevant.

First of all, I'm so glad to know that you're all okay after such a terrifying incident. I didn't even know about it and I've said this already on Joey's channel but it shouldn't even matter if you're a big star, a little star, whatever kind of celebrity status, you were guests. They should have taken your safety into account regardless of whether or not anything could have happened because should something even more serious happen, it would have been too late. I don't really want to be too harsh to criticise how they do things but the lack of security was a disappointment. As you said, it's the biggest con in the UK so things could have happened and in my personal opinion, with Tom Hiddleston, I just assume he bought his own security which is why no one would have dared to do anything.
All in all, I am proud of you boys to have come this far. It is a learning experience and I'm excited to see all of you grow.

the staff who said this has never happened... they must have been newbies. It's happened before. Anime got added to MCM around 2006 (may have been 2005?) and stuffed happened. A lot of stuff happened. And if bare in mind that MCM didn't use to have anime (Movies, Comics & Media Expo is what MCM stands for) this convention has been going for a VERY long time and should know basic needs. If you go to Insomnia (gaming con in UK) you'll see even though it's not as big as MCM they give their guests security and a safe place to go (usually known as Green Room) which I used multiple times and never felt like I'd be in any harm. But at MCM I was attacked many times and there was no place I felt safe to go apart from my hotel room. Even then I was not completely safe cos I still got rushed at by some random person during BREAKFAST.

I went to a con for the TV show Once Upon a Time in Paris that was in a hotel, which was obviously a much smaller event than MCM and every guest had security guards with them everywhere they went.

When Connor was talking about the weird interaction he had with the guy who was following him and trying to introduce himself to everyone in Trash Taste, I think the best thing to do in that situation is to be straightforward and politely refuse that person, but offer an autograph, photo, or merch as consolation. Let them know that you can't give special treatment to fans as a matter of company policy because it incentivizes negative fan interactions so they don't feel like you rejected them on a personal level. That way, you can reject them without making them feel betrayed.
To be fair he met the guy at 1am at a bar where everyone had been drinking, in the hotel at an anime convention.
I think just simply saying he wanted to spend some time with his friends and that this was not the right or good time would have been enough.

I always find it interesting when youtubers talk about their con stories. On one side, I can understand someone wanting to get a photo with the person they look up to if they see them on the floor. But a larger part of me feels bad for any creator who wants to keep their individuality when they're done "preforming" idk, im a very socially anxious person and the idea of trying to get somewhere and constantly being stopped is my nightmare. I do feel like we're slightly improving on how we view creators though so maybe this won't be an issue in the future
