i took circus classes as a kid (they were one of the only things my small ass town had for us kids to do lol) and clowns were like the girl in normal clothes, there wasn't make up or costumes it was mostly about acrobatics and stage performance, we did aerial silk and trapezium performances too, but it was sort of separated into clowns, who did more of the on ground stuff and aerialists who focused on the on the air stuff

As a clown enthusiast, I'm gonna be annoying and give my two cents on these questions. 1. Anyone who knows anything about clown costume/makeup design knows that it is very easy to make the design scary because of the Uncanny Valley. Exaggerating features in makeup has bene brought over from the theatre but it can become very unsettling when seen up close. Clowns also often work with children and any situation that child is in with high emotions can result in a long-lasting fear. AND the influx of clowns in horror has certainly made an impact. 2. For professional clowns, I would assume it would be very uncomfortable to associate their clown character with anything sexual because it is tied to their job and their interactions with children. Coulrophilia is thriving but I doubt it is within professional circles, especially since it goes against the Clown Code of Ethics. Presumably clowns who want to participate in that would have a separate character/costume. 3. Obviously not. Stupid question. 4. Clowns are VERY educated. It is extremely difficult to get into clown school and it's very prestigious. Obviously not all clowns get official education but they would still have to do their research. You have to look into comedy, art, performance, design, makeup, character development, fashion. There's also a lot of history to clowning that you'd learn. Not to mention the specialisation of clowns such as clown nurses. And the applied knowledge, the ways in which you interact with audience members and children. Clowning is an art form and as such there is a lot to learn. 5. Subjective question, depends on the person. 6. It doesn't matter who you are and what you do, you are not always happy when you're working. Clowning is a performance art and, if you're good at it, you can easily pretend to be happy. Clowns are not immune from the struggles of life. 7. There is so much nuance to this that it's impossible to talk about in one paragraph but I'll give it a go. Clowning is not inherently racist. Clowns have existed since Ancient Egypt and it is not based in racism. There are cultures in which clowns are very important to spiritual rites. Clowning is inherent to humanity and is international. That said, some of modern clowning is shaped by racism. Blackface is a type of clown. Some of what you see in Bozo costumes is based on discrimination against the Irish (red curly hair, red nose from drinking etc.) The Hobo archetype can easily slip into a minstrel character. While I adamantly disagree with the assertion that clowning is racist or started in racist ideals, it is very important to note that clowning, like pretty much everything, has racism in its past. 8. I don't think anyone has ALWAYS wanted to be something. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid.
@@aliamcbride Oh, phew. I'll ask my kid. After their SuperWhoLockian phase (I think that's how it goes; and yes, they are suitably embarrassed) they're pretty much my go to on that front :-D

I don’t have a fear of clowns specifically, but I do have social anxiety, and something about clowns makes them unbelievably socially awkward to be around.
Makes me miss being a clown/jester at the annual street fair in my home town. It was genuinely a really fun summer tradition. Plus, we made surprisingly good money!
Jordan feels like he could either be the main villain in a Disney movie or the hero's sidekick but not the hero themself because his dynamic towards the villain would be off?? I doubt this makes any sense. I just need to sleep

I’m terrified of clowns. Always have been. I almost didn’t watch this but it was very interesting. Also Jordan… how dare you be good at juggling too! What can’t you do!!!
Man knows how to intro a video. Took me six seconds to like him. Also, clowning and drag and commentary are not that different, just trying to make people laugh and hopefully make enough to get through the day. Thanks for not clowning on the clowns ❤️
It blows my mind that there are clowns that fully acknowledge that they're perceived as scary, fully acknowledge the the makeup is the only reason they're perceived as scary, but still insist on wearing it.
WAIT I saw my friend in the thumbnail and had to comment! Orange_U_Glad is on of my close friends from the TwitchSings days! Jordan love that you are finally uploading videos to your own channel. it is crazy to see one of my friends in your video!
I’ve been watching Cody for years and I didn’t even think about comparing you to him. You’re a completely different person and you’re so good at this (you’re juggling, for f*k sake)
I am not or have ever been a clown, but that one point about having to be a happy person when youre in fact not, really stuck to me. I had been a hair dresser for a while and when you work with people who will just stay for hours sometimes, you have to engage with them. I worked in retail before and that sucked, but at the hair dresser the same sucky people are there, just for a lot longer. And when I was working at the hair dresser I also was going through a rough patch of my life, but I still had to be happy and smiles all day, because there was always someone present. People that get their hair done just really have no sympathy for their hair dresser being in a bad mood. Like, i still did my work perfectly, I just couldnt get myself to fake happiness all the time, and people started complaining to my boss about it. I just have all the sympathy for people in jobs where they have to put up a performance and I feel like as a clown your whole brand is being happy. If u show a bit of humanity youre out

He's so real, so morally good, so smart, he's so attractive as a human being who has so much more to him then we could ever know. I appreciate what's made him who he is without having to know what he's been through, no kind of suffering is justified or ok but I am glad he exists. He gives me hope that I can find more people like us, I live in a small town and sometimes it feels like I'm the only person in the world with common sense and any kind of will power to advance in life but it's just my immediate area I'm experiencing this in. i took circus classes as a kid (they were one of the only things my small ass town had for us kids to do lol) and clowns were like the girl in normal clothes, there wasn't make up or costumes it was mostly about acrobatics and stage performance, we did aerial silk and trapezium performances too, but it was sort of separated into clowns, who did more of the on ground stuff and aerialists who focused on the on the air stuff
Based on that alone, I might know where you’re from… 😂
I'm personally very emotionally attached to wholesome circus aesthetics like merry-go-rounds, clowns, and games as well as the sad history of Oddball/Freak shows because of how I grew up being bullied for being disabled. I was called a freak or oddball a lot in school and now I find comfort in reclaiming that in a positive way for myself. Clowns are fun, the history is long and interesting, and also sad in a lot of spots. They make me feel safe in a way like carousel horses, or a pet does
I also love clowns and circus aesthetics💚 Im sorry bout how people treated you, its always baffles me how sucky people can be sometimes
@@greatestaxolotl4933 Oh definitely, it's extremely relieving to take comfort in it for me! I also mostly grew up in a town in Florida where the culture around circus history was super big and important to the area
clowns have become one of my special interests over the last few years and i forget now that a lot of people outside the interest of Clowning Around dont spend a lot of thought on how to ethically clown. not that i ethically clown (i am evil) but its important that some people do it
I fucking love this comment and I love you (platonically
"Not that I ethically clown ( I am evil)" 😭
Wow thanks Jordan, this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father it was so frickin funny. And I can’t wait to sub- er, to subscribe, and ring the bell as well! I - that’s it! I can’t, nothing matters to me anymore, other than that; and I distanced myself from the rest of my family, and I’ll sacrifice ANYTHING I have to, in order to please you!
no worries
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid.
this was absolutely fascinating to read, thank you.
Came looking for this comment, it’s well laid out. Thank you!
Being a clown is so hard sudden respect
Wait until Jordan learns about clown husbandry...
Is that... when you breed clowns?
I am consternation
@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 pretty sure it's a fictional circle of tumblr lol all good fun
@@aliamcbride Oh, phew. I'll ask my kid. After their SuperWhoLockian phase (I think that's how it goes; and yes, they are suitably embarrassed) they're pretty much my go to on that front :-D
@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 it's a fairly recent tumblr thing (past few years), so depending on whether or not they're still active they may or may not know about it ^^
@@QtPieMarth They are, and did!
I may have phased out at one point, but I THINK it started with fish... :-/
Really proud of Jordan for doing his own stunts. So authentic
Wow thanks Jordan this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father! It was so freaking funny! And I can’t wait to subscribe and ring the bell as well! :)
Firstly, I dogsit for a pug named Dennis and I can confirm, it's consistently hilarious that that's his name.
Second, I was literally walking around the Mission today in overalls so that assessment was spot on.
Thank you Jordan for these two jokes which were clearly for me and no one else.
I don’t have a fear of clowns specifically, but I do have social anxiety, and something about clowns makes them unbelievably socially awkward to be around.
Makes me miss being a clown/jester at the annual street fair in my home town. It was genuinely a really fun summer tradition. Plus, we made surprisingly good money!
i adore jordan and his content. hes emotionally intelligent and hilarious and relatable. keep it up dude, i really appreciate what ur doing
Jordan feels like he could either be the main villain in a Disney movie or the hero's sidekick but not the hero themself because his dynamic towards the villain would be off?? I doubt this makes any sense. I just need to sleep
Nahhh he has antihero who stumbles into a found family situation and reforms the villain in an akward but heartwarming way.
I would say this healed my relationship with my estranged father it's just...we were too late...if only Jordan started making videos seventeen years ago...maybe he wouldn't have died. Still liked and subscribed and rang the bell tho, very funny video :).
"No adult loves clowns"
*Joseph Gordon Levitt has entered the chat*
Haiku was truly the cherry on top of this RUclips sundae
(Or the red nose on this clown video?)
This video actually had a net zero impact on my relationship with my father, but if he decides one day to become a clown I'm sure this video will have some form of influence down the line! I look forward to it!
Watching you and Jarvis on Sad Boyz really helped me through some rough times, especially as someone with ADD and depression. I was literally just sitting here thinking "I hope Jordan is doing well" super please to find you've recently posted.
Using mimes would create the ultimate video. You are a genius.
I’m glad the video got sincere and nicer pretty quickly, I was a little worried it would be mean or judgmental about people who aren’t hurting anybody! I was relieved when it was just harmless goofs 🙂
Jordan Adika my clown ally
my parents are both trained clowns who went to clown college (my dad even taught steve-o in clown college) this video was really fun and refreshing to watch, bc most ppl just think clown and think scary pennywise and especially when making jokes bash on clowns, but jordan did an amazing job of just making jokes on the people and the video and not clowns as a whole
It blows my mind that there are clowns that fully acknowledge that they're perceived as scary, fully acknowledge the the makeup is the only reason they're perceived as scary, but still insist on wearing it.
lol Ig it’s just like… can’t let a few people hating ruin what makes you and many others happy
Natasha was just a random girl hanging out and Jubilee was like, "Hey, you look like a clown! We could use someone like you!"
WAIT I saw my friend in the thumbnail and had to comment! Orange_U_Glad is on of my close friends from the TwitchSings days! Jordan love that you are finally uploading videos to your own channel. it is crazy to see one of my friends in your video!
These people seem so genuinely wonderful and nice to be around
aw thanks, jordan wow this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father it was so fricking funny
I’ve been watching Cody for years and I didn’t even think about comparing you to him. You’re a completely different person and you’re so good at this (you’re juggling, for f*k sake)
I am SO clowncore. Clowncore is basically a fashion where you dress as a clown, but it's not by profession
you trying not to offend clowns is legendary
If u show a bit of humanity youre out
Awh, thanks Jordan, wow, this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father, It was so FRICKING funny. And I can't wait to subscribe and ring the bell as well! That's it! Nothing matters to me anymore, other than that. And I distance myself from the rest of my family and sacrifice anything I have to in order to please you, Jordan.
sure thing np
Wow thanks Jordan this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father!
"sensually spray you on the neck with a whoopee cushion" is the worst sentence i have had the displeasure of hearing
I like how their Exit went from disappearing in a puff of smoke (momentarily confusing them with magicians) to phasing back into hell through a giant pentagram on the floor
honestly? both would be in-character for them, just in different ways. i would’ve liked to see them all pile into a tiny car and drive off set while honking a silly little horn but oh well, you win some you lose some
love Jordans commitment to dressing like the subject of his videos! 👏👏👏
Jordan, I'll clown for you and I have in the past. Many, many times.
There is more out there. There are cool people out there who can comprehend so much more than the people around you now. We can't give up, we just have to learn how to look.
:O wait who is this about
it’s okay king i’m balding too
finally the guy i always laugh the hardest at in collabs is cracking funny sillyman jokes on his own
this is a fantastic arc of youtube
Thanks Jordan! Wow! This really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father it was so funny. He heard me laughing from the next county and came over to tell me to shut up. Haven’t seen him in over 4 years.
Just so you know, Jordan, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite creators on RUclips. You rock!
only about two weeks before one of those storytime channels make a video about you being a juggalo
I don’t like clowns but I like Jordan, so.

As soon as he finished talking, an ad played of a man sitting on the floor depressed, with sad music and a black and white filter. That broke my fuckin' voice box I laughed so loud. Best accidental editing I've ever seen.
I considered professional clownery and spent years making balloon animals and sculptures that were a few feet tall only to develop a latex allergy. It wasn't meant to be sadly
If you want ideas, I always enjoy when people do ASMR reactions, whether it's regular ASMR, or like...kidnapping (edit: kidnapping *roleplay* ) ASMR. Or some outlying genre, lol. I find it funny when RUclipsrs react to ASMR. Not telling you what to do with your channel; just, if you want ideas, I think it could be cool.
No kink shamming but for someone with a clown fettish. Are birthday and Halloween parties just too intense or like how would that work?
i hope nobody answers that
@@ethangrayse I would google it but my body rejects typing it into the search bar.
Very thoughtful questions. I await a response.
Gotta be honest with you, you just have to try and avoid the clowns at parties, also a lot of times it's only specific types of clowns if you know what I mean
@@Deanbutwithass I don’t know what you mean I’m sorry :(
This was indeed a 'social experiment prank gone wrong epic gamer moments parents will never understand life hack', perfect description :)
saying that one clown looks like that other clowns spiritual protector is why your voice is needed in the commentary community
there arent words to express how happy i am that hes posting
I've never been afraid of clowns, but their video made me wildly uncomfortable. I feel like I want to know about these peoples' childhood. I'm getting a very, theatre kid gone rogue energy.
are we all going to collectively ignore the person in chat at 0:22 who said they need to call their mom bc she's a grandma implying that they found out they were going to be a parent while on jordans stream??
Aw thanks Jordon, this really rekindled my relationship with my estranged father. It was so frickin funny. I can't wait to subscribe and ring the bell as well
Wow thanks Jordan. This rekindled the relationship with my estranged father who’s been dead eleven years. I’ve already subscribed and rung the bell, so I suppose I’ll go call my dad. Bye!
Jordan doing RUclips is one of the best things it had happened to me in these last years. Thank you.
having "affairs" in costume is HIGHLY against the clown code. no clown worth their nose would break clown code like that.
technically the woman who isnt in costume is clearly the most professional of all the clowns there.
Jordan, the first person I've heard implying that clowns are sexy and balloons are not
"idk anything about myself as clearly as this clown, *because that's what they are* "
Yes! When I saw your collab with Nick, I was hoping you'd also upload soon.
It’s rare to find a commentator so wise. Pennywise even..
When you notice that Jordans eyebrows look like the two sides of his moustache were copy pasted onto his brow line, you realise how perfect his face truly is
i have been waiting and searching for the ‘lone content ~ granted, i have viewed mostly if not all minus three videos before leaving my “ long-time listener , first time caller...” statement/call-baxk(this typo stays lol)/“comment”- and I would like to add , since I did begin this venture /binge-watch more properly yesterday evening, and in my lil corner , it has been quite bleak and just pain depressing and you actually made me laugh aloud pretty hard, like a real, good laugh and for that , sir, I thank you , much.
:3
Thank-you Jordan, because of you I now feel comfortable calling clowns "drippy".
i, too, feel validated in my appreciation of the Clown Drip™️
I would love to hear some Jordan commentary on drag race. That would be top tier content
Gabagool
My family and I were clowns when I was a kid, so I have attended clown camp.
Bro there is literally an opera piece where about how entertainers aren't allowed to be true to their a emotions for the sake of what they must provide. It all comes to a head more or less at the song "Vesti la giubba" which translates (roughly) to put on the costume.
jordan thank you for this video, it brought my dad back to life after being dead for the past 15 years, i really appreciate it
As a birthday clown myself I appreciate all pro-clown advocates! Thank you 🃏💛🎪
this was the perfect timing for this upload, thanks jordan 💓
My grandma used to be a trained clown and as a kid I sobbed out of fear when she first dressed up in front of me. I will never get over it.
