My dad had a 1977 Morris Marina that had a toughened windscreen. Many vehicles in the era of this Range Rover still had toughened windscreens. It was only until the late 60s that is was UK Law for all vehicles to be manufactured with toughened glass instead of plain glass. Toughened is far better than plain glass because in the event of a crash, at least you won't be cut to shreds. I think is was only until the early 80s when cars started using laminated windscreens.

No laminated glass for the windshield in the UK?

    •  3 года назад +1

Not until the late 70s though some car manufacturers available in the uk would have had laminated glass.
That's a later Range Rover (likely late 80s to early 90s) and should have had a laminated screen fitted.
My guess is its had a screen replacement at some point in its life and someone has either been cheap or has mistakenly fitted a screen originally intended for an early 70s model. Makes sense as it would actually fit.

No modern car, SUV or off-roader rolls over while swerving, they have plenty of electronics and high tech suspensions which keeps them on the ground. But when you add another factor such as a curb, ditch, guardrail, flat tire or hitting another car it becomes a different story. In a situation like that the electronics and suspension won't do their job properly anymore and the laws of physics take over, meaning a car with a higher centre of gravity compare to it's width will roll over quicker.

So let’s see, a 20 year old test, with a car from the early 90s is swaying your opinion? A. They didn’t even bother trying to counter steer in this experiment, B. SUVs come standard with all sorts of accident avoidance technology today, C. SUVs are still safer than sedans and cars, even moreso today with the likelihood of an SUV accident encounter being higher for car drivers, and D. This video has a high ratio of dislikes because it’s very “The world is going to end” when it’s just a simple rainstorm. It’s creating an issue that’s not there. SUVs will always be more likely to roll over, that’s obvious, but in an 05 Suburban I’ve swerved and did not roll over because of basic knowledge of how to drive. I once ran over a MASSIVE log on the highway doing 85 MPH with traffic, the car hopped up into the air and landed perfectly fine. This is fearmongering, you’re falling for it, and worse yet you’re taking advice from a video that has a 30 year old Range Rover as the test car; a time when seat belts and airbags were optional, and some cars had no headrests. I’d still purchase the SUV because the SUV is safer. Fact, proven numerous times. You’re unlikely to roll over.

with all the due respect SUVs and 4x4s are two completely different animals. 4x4's - proper ones - are not built for speed but off-road capabilities. rock crawling is not done at 45 or 65 miles an hour but at 3 or 5mph. you don't see 4x4's toppling over every rock they encounter. I can't believe the number of inaccuracies, mismatches and flaws put together in one film

    Driving conditions
Driving safely - you wouldn’t need too swerve if you at the correct distance

Age of the vehicle I’m gunna use a 30year car vs a 15year old car

To be honest, I've seen hatchbacks rolled on a perfectly straight and flat piece of motorway, apparently without having contacted any vertical element of the road infrastructure or any other road users.
Also, "SUVs" (I hate that term, don't know why) are better driven with the same care and precaution as is due the operation of a light truck or commercial vehicle. That is, swerve and smoothly catch, not swerve and swerve. I've dodged plenty of wildlife in all sizes of truck from 4-wheeler to semi trailer without crashing using that handy method.
