Try the Black Swan Art Film. It has an orchestra with them singing and a dance company doing an interpretive dance to it. It's beautiful and haunting. It might be something you'd enjoy 😉. Also I'm laughing at the pet peeve yeah yeah yeah. You'll actually hear a lot of stuff like that. Army jokes how do you hear lalala, what song melody is used. They used it a lot in the early days. To me is doesn't take away from any song, cause in my head it's a meme now.
You are quite right....It's based on a quote by Martha Graham ""A dancer dies twice.... once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
Since you asked about the backstory of Black Swan/ the meaning of the song. It is about losing the passion for what you love, in BTSs case that's music. There is the quote from Martha Graham, that goes along with it: "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." BTS came to a point where they felt that way. They also express it in their song Outro: TEAR (live performance at Wembley in London: ruclips.net/video/94PtKx6iQqQ/видео.html ) and how bad it actually was is blatantly visible in their acceptance speech for the artist of the year award at the 2018 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) ceremony ( ruclips.net/video/vVs710bHkNA/видео.html ). As a fellow metalhead and ARMY since 2013, I'm curious to see your journey down the rabbit hole that is BTS. Don't worry, there is plenty of room down here and it's comfy! ;) Borahae from Germany! 💜
I've never heard them say they were losing their passion for music although inspiration can come & go for artists so it wouldn't be a surprise. They were having a really hard time in 2018 due to the pressure that came with sudden, immense global fame, burnout after 7 or 8 years of working insanely (unhealthily) hard, etc. Obviously only they know all the reasons but hopefully at the end of their careers they'll believe they made the right choice to re-sign their contracts. @@septasoareousrex
It’s so astounding to me that you quoted Martha Graham! The first time I saw Black Swan i immediately thought of Martha Graham. Unbelievable choreography in This MV. The music, the Dance, the meaning of BTS’s songs are always deep, epic and always emotionally clear no matter that the lyrics are in Korean. The depth of the meaning is incredible to me….totally ballet! A combination of Martha Graham, ballet and Merce Cunningham is alive here in Black Swan! I’ve been ARMY since 2018. No laughing, but I’m 73 and took dance lessons from the Amazing Martha Graham..thank you for the analysis..☮️
@@lindairving4396 It was actually BTS who quoted Martha Graham. Before the Black Swan MV was released, they came out with an art film (performed by the MN Dance Company) using a beautiful classical rendition of the song. Why would I laugh? ARMY comes in all ages. And that you got to train under Martha Graham is AMAZING! I actually envy you.
@@ambers5322 Thank you for telling me it was BTS who referenced Martha Graham..BTS is a brilliant intellectual journey that has SAVED ME made me feel YOUNG FOREVER and WINTERBEAR is my tiny grandson’s go to sleep song..! "Black Swan" is from the album series "Map of the Soul", which is inspired by the psychological theories of Carl Jung. BTS especially explores the persona, shadow, and ego aspects of the soul. "Black Swan" is one of the songs about their shadow, in this case, their fear of losing their passion for music. Another song, "Interlude: Shadow", talks about the dark side of ambition, success, and fame. Because BTS write their own lyrics and base them on their personal experiences, their songs are often reflective of what they are going through in their lives. Their early albums, released while most of them were still teenagers, talked about the importance of young people having their own dream, for example. Or their struggles to chase their dreams. As they gained more recognition, they talked about the temptations of fame and success in "Wings". And then as they received hate and criticism, they talked about self-love in the "Love Yourself" trilogy. And then they talked about finding one's identity in the "Map of the Soul" duology.
We love hearing about the why behind their songs! It is so cool and absolutely relatable and beautiful. Thank you for sharing! 💜💜 We will absolutely have to check out "Interlude: Shadow" because that sounds amazing. Loving their writing styles and excited to hear more!💜💜 Thank you so much for watching and joining us on this journey! We appreciate you! 💜💜Borahae!💜💜
@@septasoareousrex their songs tend to link one to another and build a whole theme through the album and even album series. So so many layers. I too was blown away by the intricacies to develop such narratives. Genius level.
@@septasoareousrex - I look forward to you exploring more of their music and discovering their individual writing styles. Since the rappers often write their own verses in their group songs, after several songs, you'll see how unique each of their writing styles are. If you're interested in "Shadow" (by Suga), be sure to check out also "Persona" by RM and "Ego" by J-hope. These three songs are solo songs within the BTS album. (Just so you know, BTS albums contain group songs as well as solo songs and subunit songs, which are all connected to the overall theme of the album.)
Well...I never expected to watch your entire 20 minutes for a 3 minute BTS MV. You two continue to surprise me, in a good way. Appreciate your honesty too. Mic Drop, Steve Aoki remix will blow you away. I can hardly wait.
We are so glad you enjoyed it in full!!! We try to keep our points quick and concise, but this one was definitely jam packed with beauty and meaning to un-pack! 💜 Thank you for watching and we will add that to our list for later! Thank you again Jo Strong! 💜💜
I am Army at 63 years old. I always liked blues, heavy metal, and later, Hip Hop. I stumbled upon BTS by accident in 2018 and have been a fan ever since. I loved their message, the different genres of music, their live performances, and their dance practices. Their humble, sweet personalities really attracted me especially in this “it’s all about me” society we’re living in America. I’m so glad that you gave them a chance and are respectful. I have subscribed. Next, I suggest On: Kinetic Manifesto Film.
That's what has attracted us as well. The "it's all about me" you're talking about drives us absolutely insane. It's so refreshing to such a massive artist be so humble, genuine, sweet, and charitable. Even if you don't like their music (even though we love it) it's hard not to love them as people!! We will look into Kinetic Manifesto 💜💜 Thank you so much for watching! :)
@@septasoareousrex There are 2 mvs for the ON: Kinetic Manifesto. Make sure it's the ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film, the one with the drummers/band at the scene with the bridge. The song/music and dance are more fitting for this mv than the other one.
Love your comment and you're so right. I hope they continue to get to know them because BTS has a lot to offer. And btw, it was not by "accident" when you found them. Remember ARMYs saying, "BTS finds you when you need them most" 💜
I really suggest Taylor Nakamoto's "a draft introduction to bts" it'll give you more meaningful insights on each member and a very small glimpse of their diverse music ...you really should know their personalities..it'll definitely help you have a better appreciation for their music💜💜💜💜💜 edit: i just saw that she took the draft down maybe she's adding to it and put it back up in some time...plz plz make sure to check it out...we'll let u know for sure
Taylor has unlisted this at the moment as she stated on her channel that she wants to ‘fix’ it, there are some errors in info, saesang and fan base footage she wants to take out and she is tweeking the 95 liners info at least, unless they are going to react to the same video twice to get the right information it might be best to remove the link and wait for Taylor to relist her final video
Black Swan has meaningful lyrics, intriguing arrangement, addicting melody, incredible visuals and heavenly vocals 😍 the concept left me in aw! great way to start!
I couldn't find anyone else recommending it but there is a dance company version of this that is set to a classical version of Black Swan. It was actually released first and was produced by or in cooperation with Big Hit. It's amazing.
Yes, that's right. This song is part of Map or the soul: 7, that takes ideas from Carl Jung's map of the soul theory so basicly the song it's like a confession as artists and individuals, where they face what they fear, their hidden and denied thoughts (their shadow) about the possibility of losing their passion for music, and how that pain could be compared to death. At the beginning of the performance video it quotes: "A dancer dies twice- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful"
@@septasoareousrex they have so much more incredible music to discover. Considering RM & Suga are the primary song writers and producers in BTS , they always speak truth and from the heart. All members of bts contribute to the musical process. So they are definitely not a typical boy band . Welcome to ARMY
@@geekyreader34 Not really as producers, its mainly Pdogg, but they do contribute to it as well and so much to their music already as Bts and as Solos...

you guys have great communication skills, you are not interrupting each other and genuinely listen. it shows that you respect one another as humans. love it. 🇬🇪
BTS definitely has a lot of "yeah yeah yeah" and "na na na" throughout their discography lol. many kpop songs do, i think its to make it easier for anyone to sing along regardless of their language
Yeah (pun intended) I think it's a formula to capture more international folks because it's easier to sing to because of the language barriers since Korean is hard to translate to english. Love it. 💜💜
As an Army I appreciate the fact that you guys take the time to explore and react to our BTS I am from New Zealand and at age 53 have been following BTS since 2014 I love everything they stand for and Black Swan is my ultimate jam of all time
Every MV usually has dance practice if u are interested with the choreography. And some of their songs have explanation video because usually it will be difficult for the nonkorean to interpret the lyrics n MV. Everything they put on the MV have a meaning so it will be a bit difficult for a first time reactor to notice especially if they are new into BTS. DKDKTV, XCELESTE, n bookish theory are ARMY's favourite explanation channel 💜 BTW I love this song so much. The lyric, dance, music, act, the theme, theatre, outfit, all in one package. Even the title itself, I love all bout this song 🎵
I forget to say. Their Live performance also a must watch video. Many people said that BTS are way better with their Live performance. While MV are no doubt always top notch, their Live performances will give u a wonderful experience 💜 BTS in James corden show are the best for Black Swan. You can also check the performance in Jimmy Fallon also.
When it comes to bts musics every music has it's meaning even if u don't understand the lyrics there's always explanation video or u can search it .. Thank you n hope u enjoy the journey
@@septasoareousrex your interpretation was spot on 😉 Anyway, art is about what it makes YOU feel and see. Nevertheless, some of their lyrics and mv's will definitely get even better when explained, after your own take on it off course 💜
@@septasoareousrex I love your approach guys and for me you did a pretty good job analyzing the meaning of the song. Maybe it's because you're artists too. I purple you 💜💜
It's an incredible song. We listened to a mash-up of Butter + Dynamite first and we didn't mind those but this song has truly hooked us in. This plus BTS themselves and Army has made it to where we will now never leave!! 💜💜 We hope you have emerged from that dark place and are doing better 💜💜💜
13:58 You have to know that BTS are performers and many of there songs are produced and written having the dance and performance in front of an audience in mind. There are also fanchants, that means fans learn parts of the songs to sing along or as a call and response between the artist and the fans. On top of that, such vocables can be used to convey a particular sound or emotion without using words. They may not have a semantic meaning, but they have an acoustic or an emotional meaning. You nailed the meaning of the song. On a press conference the BTS members said that Black Swan is very personal to them. It is about confessing the fear of losing passion for music and describes the personal relationship artists have with their craft. Black Swan was co-written by one of the rappers RM and their in-house producer Pdogg, who also produced the track. It is based on a quote by the dancer Martha Graham “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful". The Art film (a different MV to Black Swan with the orchestral version of this song - I hope you watch it at least in your free time) opens with this quote. I recommend to react to their MVs “On (kinetic manifesto film)“ or “Mic Drop“ next to see the difference in sound, style and dance compared to Black Swan, but also to Butter and Dynamite. I hope for a reaction to an introduction of the individual members, for example “BTS member introduction“ by Taylor Nakamoto or “An introduction to the seven members of BTS“ by Ida S. The first one is a draft and not ready yet, but still good enough to watch. The creator wanted to add a few missing parts on some members.
We may have been able to elaborate more on that. As writers we just don't like when an artist uses it in a lazy way. However BTS didn't and very much used it in an artistic way. We also didn't think about it being a way to interact with the crowd and people who don't speak their language! It's actually very smart and respectable. Moving forward we are interested to hear how they us this in their music 💜💜 :) That's very interesting and incredibly relatable for us. It's scary to feel like you're losing your passion for something you love so much. We are super interested in watching that! We are planning on checking out Kinetic very soon. It's heavily recommended. That one plus Blood Sweat and Tears. We also will probably do The introduction to the members by Taylor and are very interested in their hardships.
@@septasoareousrex Thanks for your answer 💜 I can‘t wait to see your reaction to their live performances and to hear their fanchants. BTS are great live performers and singers/rappers even while dancing (some members revealed that they train singing on a treadmill), but it sounds as if the fans have some talent for singing as well 😆 I had to learn very quickly that nothing this group or their company does has no meaning or no connection. BTS‘ fans often find out months or even years later that BTS‘ past work like phrases or words in songs or in their livestreams, details in MVs and in their live performances or even in their choreography have already given hints or details to their new concept albums or songs. One of the members Jungkook even mentioned once that he likes to read theories of their fans. Of course, it‘s an exaggeration, because some fans like to put too much meaning in everything (not every “la la la“ has a deep meaning 😉), but I‘m sure you get what I mean. A great choice for the next reactions! Can‘t wait to hear your commentary on those videos. Greetings from Europe 🤘
All of the members are so talented, but jimin really shines in this mv. i love seeing the behind the scenes, he looks so happy (and tired) to be dancing contemporary again. 💜😊
Yeah they do have behind the scene vids for their MVs, you'll see they do create their own set and rarely uses green screens. There are so many different kind of reactors for BTS. Set designers, Producers, Dancers, Musicians, Video Editors etc.. Even if one doesn't like their music, they have something else to focus on and react to. 💜
@@septasoareousrex also if u guys do Spring Day music video you will need to watch the explanation video after that video. please take note of that right now for u guys wont forget lol.
btw, the person that's dancing solo is jimin, he really shines in this mv because of his background in contemporary dancing (before he joined bts he studied contemporary dance and was one on the top students). it would be really fun to see you guys react to their albums too, they have so many good songs that most reactors never hear since they aren't singles (which really is a shame cause they're great). i would suggest starting with love yourself: tear but really all of them are amazing so it doesn't really matter haha
i really love that you really paid close attention to the lyrics and theme of the video and didn't try to overreact to anything because i think some people get distracted trying to find something to say instead of taking the video in. you two are wonderful and got the themes right away and it made me so happy :] there are a lot of yeah yeah yeahs, la la las and nah nah nahs in your future but you get used to it and its nice for non-korean speakers to have ways to sing along. map of the soul 7 is the album this song is on and its part of an overall storytelling arc and revolves around psychology and they go through persona, shadow and ego and i'm not the army to be explaining this but yes there is a story and this is kind of part of the "shadow" concept of trying to find their true selves ?? like the dark side of art is the fear of losing passion and the tannies literally live for performing so its a scary thought for them.... kbye
You guys are so chill, thank you. I'm a 34 year old metalhead/hardcore fan and don't have many people in my personal life to listen to BTS with, so it's nice to hear your different perspectives and opinions. You're now 0.5% of the way through their discography, lol. Have fun! 💜🤘 Ps: the orchestral version of Black Swan is sick. There's a separate music video for that one (search "Black Swan Art film") featuring a contemporary dance team, highly recommend
Thank you so much! Glad you can enjoy BTS with us and we can talk about it together!!💜 Yes we have a very long path ahead of us!! lol!!! 💜 We saw there is orchestral version and we are so PUMPED!!! That and the dance are definitely coming soon! 💜💜💜💜
9:08 you understood it perfectly, being an artist yourself. All the boys of BTS have their own interests, skills and expertise that they’re passionate about. Since debut they worked tirelessly to make people listen to their music. Suga once mentioned in an interview that since they write, compose and produce majority of their music since they debuted (esp the earlier ones) it’s inevitable that you’d feel tired at one point and the thing you loved doing might eventually feel like a job so he’s very careful with that. They’ve been doing this for almost 9yrs now and all the pressures of having to produce songs and albums within a specific timeline can be overwhelming. That’s why in this track they expressed that fear of losing the passion for what they love doing since even before their debut in 2013.
Exactly, no matter how much you love something, if you do it long enough, you start to get burnt out and that's a terrible feeling! They did an amazing job expressing that and we definitely related to it!
The thing with BTS MV´s is that the first time you always say, oh great music, great choreo, great sceenery, but when you know that they have such profound messages and meanings and that they are almost always connected to previous ones, u have to watch them over and over !! Tankyou guys for watching BTS!!!
“Black Swan” is inspired by a quote: “A dancer dies twice. The first time is when he stops dancing and this first death is much more painful”. “Black swan” is about their fear that some day they’ll lose their passion for music and this would be their first death. They chose to use autotune in this song was to show the group's shadow (they're deepest collective fears/secrets) vocally, the fear being that they would fall out of love with their craft. It was RMs idea to use the autotune to blend their voices, (which makes sense since he adores Kanye and Kanye uses autotune on his vocals). Black swan is based on Jung's work of the map of the soul where the shadow, ego and persona (and more) are all equally important parts to a person's construct. The dance moves in particular you can see in the beginning they pluck what seems to be invisible string instruments, while at the end of the choreography they seem to be hanging by those very strings like puppets. Their shadow (fear/secret) has consumed them. Ok, so... the song draws inspiration from both the ballet (Swan Lake) in it's choreo and imagery, but also draws a lot of inspiration from the movie "Black Swan", which in turn is heavily based on the Japanese anime film "Perfect Blue". Both movies break identity and deal (in a non-obvious way) with Carl Jung's theory of the self: Persona, Ego, Shadow. In these movies, a female performer spirals into insanity as increased pressures in her career cause her to lose grip of herself and reality. “Black Swan” tells the story of Nina, a passionate ballerina (Natalie Portman) who struggles to maintain her sanity while competing for the main role (the White Swan, Odette) in “Swan Lake.” Meanwhile, “Perfect Blue” follows Mima, a former (Japanese) pop idol whose sense of reality begins to waiver as she attempts to transition into a career as a serious actress. Both stories feature a female protagonist is put in highly stressful situations and that makes them question their identity and ultimately conjure up a doppelganger that messes with their psyche (persona, shadow and ego, basically clash). Just as Nina suffers from the pressures of being a ballerina, Mima is also forced to deal with the strict expectations of being a Japanese idol. Their personal conflicts also bleed into their professional lives causing them to spiral out of control. In Nina’s case, it comes in the form of her oppressive mother and in Mima’s situation, it’s an obsessive stalker fan. At the core of the film, both protagonists have a psychological battle with themselves that results in hallucinations that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. In the end, like I said, these films break the self and deal with themes like loss of passion and the heartbreak that come with working for your dreams. Black Swan (BTS), at its core, reflects these themes. I think that Perfect Blue can be chillingly on point for BTS, since they too are idols and experience some of the things that Mima experienced as an idol and continues to go through. BTS reflect the core concepts of these movies, identity, and conceptualise them to reflect their fear of losing their passion for music and, by extension, losing themselves. They portray people who are afraid that music is all there is to them and are afraid of losing themselves if they lose their passion. And ohhhh boy, this choreography is gorgeous. Probably my favourite of all BTS dances. Jimin is my favourite part of the MV and his style just shines so bright in it haha he did train in ballet, albeit very minimally and as part of his main focus, which was contemporary and that's what he mostly trained for during high school. He is "professionally" trained in contemporary, hip-hop and idol dance. Even the members have said that Black Swan is Jimin's song, that he embodies the black swan. This is further highlighted in the 2020 MMA version of Black Swan, where he does a duet with Jungkook! (here's the link for a breakdown of the moment twitter.com/mintynkks/status/1335236325373448192?s=20&t=2C90i3inGV9MBv5dgoiYQA Spoiler alert, since I dunno if you plan to react to the 2020MAMA performance. Which I HIGHLY recommend, it has an amazing performance of Dynamite as well). Anygays, Jimin's dance style is unique and probably near impossible to replicate since its highly influenced by his 8+ years experience in martial arts + hiphop training. +idol training + his contemporary (and minimal ballet and Korean traditional) training. He does a lot of tricking and aerials you could see with his medialuna (which is a very dangerous movement to do, because you can easily overrotate and injure your ankles) and with his movements here twitter.com/pjmgem/status/1466261374355402757?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA and here twitter.com/jikookheart/status/1465173437589110788?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA, during the live performance, where he basically does a one-handed cartwheel to cover more space. Black Swan is one of my favourite songs from BTS! I actually got a Black Swan tattoo due to it being so special to me.
As i said before i'd definitely recommend MMA 2019 it's a award show performance and it's just amazing. Also the Black swan behind the scenes there are several videos, there is Jimin's Solo, the shadows and a could more they're well worth watching 💜 As for MV if you want artistic then yeah Blood Sweat and Tears or Fake love is the way to go. 💜

However if you watch any of the MAMA ones you'll have to flip them and fade them and pause lots they often get blocked and it may not be worth it, you may just decide it's best to watch them in your own time. MMA 2019 is a phenomenal performance. It may hit different once they know more of the discography and connections within the songs. Either way, watching it without knowing the history or after knowing the songs and path BTS took, you can absolutely enjoy it for the pure performance aspect alone - just depends on the kind of experience you want.
@@TangerineSunshine I agree, I watched it the first week I found BTS with no context and it was one of my first times seeing a live performance from them it totally blew my mind. Normally I don't suggest it straight away but this time it just feels the right way to go I think they'll really see the connection more as artists themselves. Totally up to them what order they do things though. 💜
You understood the message of the song perfectly! As others have mentioned the song is based on the quote by Martha Graham "a dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and the first death is the more painful one". The song itself is about their fear of losing their passion for music but the MV/ choreography is also based on the Black Swan ballet piece where the dancer ends up losing themselves and their passion in the quest for perfection. Jimin is the member of the band doing all the solo dancing parts and playing the shadow in the scene you loved in the MV! He's a trained dancer who did contemporary (among other styles in school). A little fun fact, contemporary was actually branched off as a rebellion to ballet and the perfection it asks for and encourages transmitting emotions to the audience through your art instead so Jimin's dance background plays into the theme too haha.

@@septasoareousrex Yes! Make your own interpretation!! When a new album comes out BTS will often make comments about what each song means but it may be vague. You can make your own interpretation of what a song means to you and it can have different meanings to each person. There are videos out of theories on the meaning of some of their songs (Rosan from Xceleste has several) especially those that are part of the BTS universe-BU- their fictional storyline that runs across several albums. But even then those are theories and opinions of separate people. 💜

You’re absolutely right that this song is about when one loses passion for their art or craft. To give a bit of context, by Wings era they started blowing up in the west, but by LY era it’s when they really blew up in the west and started winning awards, beginning with the Social Billboard award. They felt lost at that point. They felt incredibly pressured too. As the first Korean artists to ever win an American award, they had no one to turn and ask for advice. They felt all eyes from the west and the east on them. What will they come up with next? Will it be up to par with the hype? Or are they just another overhyped fade? They felt like they had reached way higher than they had ever anticipated and the pressure was overwhelming to the point they nearly broke up. However, as the song says, once they got in the studio, once they grounded and reconnected, they used those same emotions and experiences to create an amazing album, that’s now Map of the Soul: 7. I know it’s a bit early for you to go into solos, but when you get to Suga’s solo Shadow, you’ll see this same topic being brought up and explored from his point of view. Shadow also ties it up to the overall subject of the album, which is the Map of the Soul. That’s a psychological theory of personality. They explore in the album Persona, Shadow and Ego, which are all from the psychological theory. Black Swan is part of the Shadow section of Map of the Soul: 7.
I really like their use of autotune on this track, it adds to to the mixed vibes of modern & classic that appears both on the lyrics (formal and informal/slang speech) and on the choreography (sharp hiphop moves and light delicate moves), alongside with the instrumentation (the guitar sound at the beginning that mimics the gayageum, a traditional korean instrument). It's all really well thought!
Suga has defined kpop as less a genre and more an auditory and visual approach to music which includes not just the music: melodies and lyrics but also the choreography, the outfits, the staging, and production....music storytelling. It's a complete package. This is BTS's approach to all their mvs. They give you so much more than just a song. In my opinion, BTS'S production is immaculate! They have worked woth the sam small team for over 10 years and they have a distinct approach to music excellence.
You guys are among the few people who actually interpreted the song correctly. I am impressed. The translated lyrics on youtube are correct to an extend, because as you know Korean and English are different, so some Korean words, sentences, proverbs and idioms won't make sense in English( a lot gets lost in translation), so I wouldn't say the captions are 100% correct...but they are correct nonetheless, just not 100%. If you are interested in the further meaning of the song, I suggest "BTS Black Swan Explained" by Bookish Theories....they take a philosophical approach to analyzing BTS music videos' symbolism and connecting the lyrics to some of their other songs and then explain the lyrics in the context of the album that the song comes from. Every scene in the music video has a meaning so I suggest you check out the explanation video. Some other BTS explanation youtube channels I recommend for future BTS songs in addition to "Bookish Theories" are "DKDKTV"(they are a Korean channel who explain bts lyrics in the context of the Korean culture and language) and "xCeleste" .
Thank you so much for the suggestions! We will have to check it out! :) We love deep dives into interpretation and symbolism 💜💜 Thank you for watching! We appreciate you💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Fun fact…Jimin (the one that was doing the solo dancing and had the black wings) was the shadow on the wall for Suga and JK and Hobi was the shadow on the ceiling for RM. they are the 2 main dancers for BTS. Jimin (my bias) pulls from his background of contemporary, popping, and martial arts to create a beautiful performance always. JHope was a street dancer and is fantastic with hip hop style dancing. Both are so incredible….as are ALL of our boys💜
This song is a masterpiece. Every ARMY adores this song. And there's another MV for it "Black Swan Art Film" which was actually released first and you'll find the quote by Martha Graham there and it's more of a classical version. BTS In-house producer Pdogg said, "This song reflects the emotions the BTS members were feeling when it was written." And according to the BTS description for the song, “The song lends voice to the band’s darkest fears-the music they do will one day cease to touch or move them. Yet, every time they come face to face with this “Black swan” within themselves, they hear voices calling out from deep within their hearts and are stricken with the realization that music is all they have. This track is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself.” You'll love it's live performance at their "Permission To Dance: On Stage" concerts that they did in LA, LV and Seoul, South Korea. It's BEAUTIFUL. You'll find lots of fancams for that. BTS live performances are insane. Their studio songs are great but when they perform their songs live it's a different experience. The vocals (their voice
You two are just both just so “lovely, lovely, lovely” ( you’ll get this comment eventually) ….66 year old metal head mama…have been sending my son(also a metal head) BTS videos to entice him to jump in the RH with me. Their music catalogue has something for every musical taste. I personally have not listened to a single song that I have disliked or has not had a huge impact on me! These boys are once in a generation special! Their music, lyrics, MV’s, videos and TV shows have positively impacted and helped thousands of listeners/ARMYs through some of the most stressful, difficult and emotionally devastating times in their lives. The are literally millions of comments on various media platforms that will attest to this. BTS have said FATE brought them together….I’m thinking there was the hand of something or someone in the Universe behind this. These seven boys have more power for positivity…love…and goodness and kindness than any government or public official that I am aware of, and they have an ARMY behind them that looks out for them and does good works in their name, support and are empathetic towards others. Some one knew what they were doing!
RM(leader) is main Songwriter of Black Swan and he said he cried while writing Black Swan. Co Songwrites-Jhope, Suga Pdogg(in house prod) is Main producer of Black Swan. Composer- Pdogg, RM, Suga,Jhope
This reaction gives you another subscriber. You don't have to like every song - The Tannies have such an eclectic discography so odds are you won't - but as long as you reflect like this, I'm in. 💜 Over time you may encounter people that make rude demands of you or are just unpleasant, but please know that they are mostly just mean on purpose or too eager to remember their manners. While I know it is hard as a creator not to take those to heart, I can only encourage that you punt those commenters to the side and have as much fun as you can with the rest of us. 😊 Oh, and get used to the nananas and lalalas. 😂 They are not there because they just didn't know what else to write, BTS just love to interact with us in concerts, so quite a number of their songs has those moments. It also makes it easier for them to blend language structures. They do not expect us all to be able to sing along in Korean just yet, but we ARE in training if the number of "speak Korean" merchandise they release is to be believed. I may one day feasibly be able to rap in Korean. I'm only entering my 40s now, so the hope remains. 😏 Edit: Most of BTS' songs are part of a larger collective and therefore needs to be seen in context for the full meaning. Black Swan is on the Map of the Soul 7 album, an album built around Carl Jung's theories of individuation (specifically persona, shadow and ego). I can recommend Bookish Theories breakdown of the video: ruclips.net/video/PRdSXnBqkak/видео.html . It may come off as extremely academic, but that's a occupational hazard for us ARMYs. I swear, we're all part time scholars by now. 😅
Thank you so much for subscribing! We're not here to just beat up on songs or be mean to artists. We want to analyze and really look into the song itself in order to reflect on it! The overwhelming majority of Army has been sweet so we just shrug off the rude ones XD This is a great explanation to why they do that in their songs and honestly it's completely respectable. Going forward we will keep that in mind and wont be too harsh on them for it! It seems they do it tastefully anyways which is already a positive! :) 💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is a great song, with a deep meaning. All of their songs have meanings. The principal dancer on the video, Jimin, is trained in contemporary dance he is the one in the spotlight and in the shadows. You have to watch Black Swan live in the PTD concerts, with the backup dancers, it's amazing!! About the yeah yeah, na na, and etc in their songs, I think they put them in order to the people that don't speak korean can also "sing" with them, and, at thr concerts, the fan chants are huge. The only thing that you can do to pay back is to spread their music to other people, so everybody get the chance to meet them. Thanks for your reactions!!
Black Swan was filmed at The Los Angeles Theater. The song is part of their Map Of The Soul 7 album which was based, in part, on the ideas of Carl Jung's psychological theory of personal development focused on the persona, The Shadow and The Ego. Obviously, the play of shadows throughout the video was with meaningful intent. Enjoyed your reactions and comments. Looking forward to many more of your reactions to BTS, but please don't think that KPOP is limited to just BTS. There are many groups and solo artists producing amazing visual, lyrical, and musical works. Borahae 💜💜
in my opinion BTS's most motivational/inspirational songs are :- * 21st century girl * 00:00 * Magic shop * No more dream * Love myself * Not today * Path * Apaman * Epiphany * Young forever * 2! 3! * Dope * Wings. you should react to those songs. you'll like it.💜
They understood the song very well. As others have commented, there are explanatory videos, but there are songs that can even have more than one meaning since, although in the end they lead us to the same message, we reflect the content based on our own experience. BTS has something very special: melody, lyrics, voices, performance, dance and MV, everything offers you a message and allows you to feel, so sometimes there is more than one feeling that they want to convey in a song and the whole set allows it. There are even songs that without reading the subtitles you feel the essence of it, an example Blue and grey or Spring day. The 7 are very good dancers but the official dance line is made up of 4 of the members: J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook and V. J-Hope and Jimin are dancers before joining Big Hit as trainees, so they are the main dancers. J-Hope was a well-known urban dancer and learned to rap from RM and Suga. you will Consider the dance leader. Jimin specializes in contemporary dance, he was the valedictorian of his art school before joining the company. He is a vocalist and you can easily spot him in the MV.
Thank you! We love how diverse the interpretation of music can be💜💜 That is so cool!!!! Their talents really shine through here. Thank you for the information and thank you so much for watching! :) 💜💜💜💜
Guys, I’d really like to see you watch Fake Love but the rock version of the song, extended version of the MV. If you want, you can check both versions in one video. The song is AMAZING, one of the most interesting ones and the lyrics are deeper than it seems 🥰💜
You two are adorable and so thoughtful in your reaction.Black Swan is iconic and a gateway to BTS. Don’t know if anyone has mentioned the BTSUniverse, which is a storyline within a group of their MV’s. It gives each member a fictional back story, tackling things like poverty , domestic abuse etc. Without purposefully following this storyline, undoubtedly you will stumble across it as some of their most iconic MVs are part of it, eg “Fake love” and “Blood sweat and tears”. For those following the Universe there’s lots of clues within them . The internet is awash with theories about the meanings. The Universe begins with “I need you”, which doesn’t totally match with the MV and this is because there’s the deeper level story going on. A side note, if you like choreography, a lot of songs have a Dance Practice MV too, which is great to check out too. And of course, the real magic of BTS is their live performance, they live for live. An example of their range - Outro “Tear “ live at Wembley ruclips.net/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/видео.html and live “Magic Shop”- ruclips.net/video/c1IQEbl25Tw/видео.html Enjoy!
Hopefully, you guys react to Rise of Bangtan after the introduction video from Taylor. It's really informative but has a lot of parts (whenever you're ready since ARMYs don't mind. you can react to one chapter each) Also, BTS covers a lot of genres so it's not just pop, so I believe you guys will like some songs even if some don't end up being to your taste.
What he said about 'finding someone to appreciate the art' is true. Whalien 52 is a masterpiece I think you'll love. It's about the loneliest 🐋 in the ocean. He sings at a pitch no one can hear hence being alone.
Please tell me if one day you're gonna react to their fanmade funny videos alongside with their music. I got a whole bunch of lists ready😂👍🏻. For now just enjoy the journey💜
As long as there is more content, we plan on reacting to it! So yes eventually we want to get to those things 😃 we're loving this community and want to be part of it for as long as we can! 💜😁
Yeah, these funny compilation vids are a must! Music Videos Documentaries Choreography videos Live performances Crackhead clips and compilations 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yes! In order for truly understand the connection between Bts and army and how we are, the crack videos and also vlive compilations are a must on this journey 🤣 a channel Fandoms unite have good ones that I enjoy for vlive clips.
@@septasoareousrex you will love it. You will see their personalities and how they interact with one another. And a lot of good edit that makes it even funnier 😁💜
I'm so sorry if my comment is a repeat but I didn't see anyone answering your question: the theater they filmed this m/v in is in California. L.A. if I remember correctly, it's used for a lot of various shoots because it's closed down.
y'all kinda hit the nail on the head with the theming. this is actually the 2nd video associaated with this song. the first was a an orchestral version, performed by a russian dance company in an abandoned mall. it was prefaced with a quote by Martha Graham: "A dancer dies twice-- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
hi! i loved your commentary, you understood the song perfectly. also, the shadow dancer is jimin! he is also the one doing most of the solos in the mv, there's also a behind the scenes of him recording those parts. what you thought was ballet was actually contemporary dancing, jimin especialised in it in high school (he went to school specialised in the arts and was a top student) and he is, in my opinion, one of the best dancers in kpop. he actually had a very hard time with "idol choreography" because it wasn't the style he was majorly trained in. i feel like this was his time to truly shine with his dancing.
Their albums have themes, so the songs often are part of this bigger theme. And the songs are also ordered on the album to take the listener on a journey through that theme. Black Swan is off of their Map of the Soul 7 album. They use Jungian psychological concepts (Persona, Shadow, Ego) to reflect on who they are as they move deeper into adulthood (and deal with success and fame). This song is in the middle of the album, which covers the Shadow (unconscious, hidden, darker) part of a personality. So they're dealing with their shadow to move forward with a better understanding (and acceptance) of all parts of who they are. In the MV, note the progression in the shadows from acting independently at the beginning, then is a reflection of a member, and then absorbed at the end. (A side note, the yeah yeah yeahs alternate with nah nah nahs. Conflict? Tension?) There are a lot of layers to each song, which is one of the reasons their fanbase is so diverse.
I don't know how to express how much I love this song, it always gives me this feeling that it's like I identify myself even though I haven't been through such a situation, I think their voices and dance share a lot of sentiment
you guys got the meaning of the song spot on! love this reaction. you guys can sing and rap to it if u want dont be afraid to do that we all sing and rap to their songs..i do it in front of everyone and i dont care lol....now you guys got over 200 of their songs to react...lets get it! 🤣💜..next songs i would like you guys to react too is their songs is Dope and Fire and Fake Love... @@septasoareousrex There's also an extended version of FAKE LOVE, which has more rock/instrumental vibe to it. There's a rock/metal band that also did an amazing cover of it. 😁💜
The dance shadow on the wall is Jimin who is dancing beautifully. Watching behind the scenes is also very interesting. Thank you for your reactions & looking forward for the next 💜💜🙏
I've been noticing that alot of people really like BlackSwan, it's never been on my top bts song's or not my go-to. It's a grower for me, that's why it's fun to watch reactions it makes me notice or appreciate things to some songs.
I enjoyed your reaction. As musicians, I think you understood the message entirely. You want to create music as an expression of yourself, but you also want it to be pleasing to others. In pursuing the latter, you sometimes lose the passion that brought you to music in the first place. That's the first death.
We're happy you enjoyed our reaction. It definitely resonates with us for all the reason you stated. They did an amazing job at expressing their message. 💜💜💜💜
You can read the correct english translation(if subs on official channel are not available or for B-side) from "doolsetbangtan" they also explain refrences which maybe difficult for non-korean fans or on YT DKDKTV channel also explains the meaning behind a lot of BTS songs. For B-sides I won't recommend watching colour coded lyrics available on YT most of the time translation is wrong so use "doolsetbangtan" for that.
@@septasoareousrex but I think it is important to say that yeah Doolset have the best lyrics there if you want to check BTS words but they are literal translation like word for word, even sometimes different then this on MV even if they are official there, bc BTS team put more artsy or metaphoric look at lyrics, or easier to understand for non korean fans, but yeah they are the best but they are stright forward. So I would say use colorcoded if you want, but look if person put all info that it is BTS song etc, copyright etc, you can check it with Doolset later if something is wired in this that you look up. But this is my look on it....
watching the mv ..then knowing the meaning behind the song /knowing the lyrics of the song then watching the live performance of it aswell as the behind the scene of the mv/performance..will gonna give you a different roller coaster ride of diging up with bts
Hey guys, really enjoying your journey so far! If you want to know them individually, I highly recommend the intro video by Taylor Nakamoto, it's the most updated and complete one that has a good balance about their personalities and overall achievements. Can't wait for your next video!
BTS have insanely huge content you guys are gonna be so blessed as Armys or reactors too💜 they are known as artists of healing and you will find out why. There are fan made compilations, Run BTS (variety show) Bon Voyage, BTS in the Soop, American hustle life, Rookie king and many moreee i suggest you to dive into fan made videos and RUN BTS along with music videos and songs💜 Along with their title songs actually their B-side tracks are more meaningful and deep i suggest Zero o clock 2!3! Magic Shop Answer: Love myself Outro: House of cards Born Singer As these songs are without Music videos you can react to their live performances available with english subs
Their music videos, their choreography videos, their performances are awesome. They have such variety in all their music. No matter your mood, they have a song for it. I love 피 땀 눈물 (Blood Sweat & Tears) MV, On: Kinetic Manifesto, MV, Not Today MV, and Black Swan 2019 and 2020 MMA performances. But seriously check out the story behind Spring Day and explanation video behind Spring Day before you watch it. It will tear your heart out and stomp on it.
honestly, if it weren't for bts, i would've not dove too much into hip hop. my favorite bands are pearl jam, deftones, and many indie artists. bts brought me into the mainstream again and made me feel that even in this area, we get great lyricism. also, their daring approach to tapping different genres made me open myself up to those said genres even more. can't wait for you guys to experience more of bts musicality. 💜
I think you guys might enjoy some of their older songs like Fire, Not Today, and Dope. Also watch A Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (updated 2022) by Rice Squad. It takes you through how they were created, who the guys are and their discography. It’s very well done.🇨🇦💜
idk if anyone told you already but this song is part of their Map Of The Soul: 7 album BTS have a theme in their every album, so this album is about the Persona, Shadow and Ego...and this album was inspired by the book Map of the Soul by Murray Stein which was written based on Carl Jung's theory about a person's relationship with the world and oneself... Persona is like how we want the world to see us, it's our mask... Shadow is the darkness within us, our fears and such which we sometimes ignore or we didn't know that it was there until an unexpected event happens to us and Ego which is the center of our consciousness... so Black Swan is like under the Shadow... BTS always write songs that fits the concept of the album and personal at the same time, and it's so fascinating to learn these different layers 😊 the 3 rappers have solo songs in this album; Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow and Outro: Ego... i think these songs can explain the meanings better than I do lol
So happy you guys liked the song but please if you don't like a song just say it. some people usually don't tell us they don't like the song and it's not a good thing

I love BTS English songs, they’re fantastic summer bops, but they’re not a true reflection of their artistry. The Korean songs is where the gold is. That’s where they put themselves in, where they fell comfortable writing and producing. And they have a fantastic, intense, enormous and diverse discography. You want Rap? Hip Hop? Pop? Ballads? Jazz? Disco? Maybe a little Latin flavor? Marching Bands? EDM? Dis-ease is a song that even has a bit of Samba in it. A nice way for you guys to check that out is to react to the 2021 Festa Medley. It’s a fantastic sample of great songs and also a fun way to experience a bit of the chaos that is BTS having fun doing what they love most.
It makes sense that their Korean songs is where the gold is! Like you said, since that's where their comfortable, that's where they're the most free to do as they please. Hearing just this song you can see it. It's so incredible and everything about it is put together beautiful. It's not just a song or music video, it really is a work of art!
I was skimming through the comments, and couldn't see if anyone had said this yet, but BTS filmed this MV in the Los Angeles Theatre ouo They released a short behind the scenes of the MV shooting on the BANGTANTV channel (which they usually do after they drop an MV) ☺ Their videos always contain either little to no green screen, so they either shoot in a real location, or on a custom made set, and of course can have some post production edits to make certain scenes more intense. IDOL is the only MV I can think of right now that has a ton of green screen, but it's done on purpose because a large part of the song is a sarcastic clapback regarding certain comments BTS as a whole, and individual members constantly receive/d. Oh, DNA also has a big amount of green screen too, but it's a real pretty MV (not my fav song though, but that's just personal taste). Aaaaand thinking some more, Dynamite had a decent amount of it, though that's bc it was filmed in 2020 and yeah they really /couldn't/ just go anywhere to film. And I don't think there's anything /bad/ about using green screen, but also filming on actual sets DOES have it's own impact, and I think it kind of draws the audience in better than green screen. Kind of makes it a little more... engaging? Intimate? Something like that, lol, but anyway, I've rambled on enough, I'm glad you guys enjoyed the song, AND got the meaning right away ^u^ BTS lyrics are so important, and they sing about such a wide variety of topics. I love how they have deep, meaningful songs like this, I love how they have their own love songs with some GORGEOUS lyrics, I love how they have scathingly emotional breakup songs, I love how they have songs that are just about having fun, like, they just song about what they WANT to sing about, and it's just >chef's kiss< (okay rambling over)
Black Swan is from Map of the Soul 7 album, 2nd part of the Map of the Soul series inspired by Jungs Map of the soul: An Introduction by Murray B. Stein (Persona, Shadow, Ego), this song is part of the shadow (our dark thoughts, emotions, feelings, fears, etc...) part of us that is hidden. Ego is also in Map 7, Map of the Soul: Persona was the first album and the title song is Boy With Luv. Bts leaves their music open for our interpretation, but please read up on the storyline of the series. This series focuses on individuation. Which is why we say lyrics are very important, they also have many Korean references that we dont understand, so we search or wait for DKDKTV to post an explanation video (this mv doesnt have any references), only a quote by Martha Graham in the beginning. Thank you and Sorry its long, have a nice day!!
Ahh I thought you already did and I could start off my lazy Sunday by watching you react to the very first song and MV of BTS that had me hooked immediately and for the rest of my life 😁💜 Looking forward to your reaction later 😊
Welcome to our ARMY family !! So glad your taking a trip down the BTS rabbit hole💜. I'm 55, my daughter is 28 and introduced me to them. My aunt is almost 70 and is ARMY. I am definitely looking forward to watching your reactions. 💜💜
I love the fact that the shadows behind the members in individual parts were just supposed to be their shadows… but the shadow was doing a totally different movement from the member singing or rapping in that moment… just a very beautiful visual for the idea of fear of losing your passion… the disconnect from their shadows and themselves. Bts love to use rhythmic words in place of percussion quite often lol the na na na and La la’s will be a recurring artistic choice just to give you a heads up lol I understand your stance and nothing wrong with that… just warning you that it def happens lol you don’t have to love every single part of every single song… I dig the honesty. They also tend to like to use the English slang in songs and it’s usually being done for a specific lyric to flow audibly in a pleasing way.. and this is something else that’s used quite a bit…. They do the same thing with the Korean and bending the words and phrases to fit the necessary part but you won’t notice that stuff really from that side… but just keep in my mind that everything is done for a reason. The intricacies of the details of the music, the dancing and the visuals and backgrounds… there’s SO much thought into every aspect… but they do like to play with English slang .. I think it fascinates some of them bc it’s very different from their language. Like I remember they were asked something about English words or something and jungkook said “brekky,” which typically hear from Australian or uk possibly when talking about breakfast lol rm who is the most fluid in English had no idea what jungkook was talking about and when the interviewer explained to rm that it is an actual slang term… jungkook looked so proud . He’s the youngest and def a gen z style guy … he loves learning new English and slang … but never feel like you have to pretend to be a fan of something you’re not… totally your right my dudes!!!
Black Swan is such a masterpiece! It's one of my favorite songs ever. It's part of their album Map of the soul 7, which is named after and based off of Carl Jung's theory of the self. The album explores themes of identity and the collective psyche of the group, so Black Swan fits right into this thematic exploration. There are five other songs of this album that have official music videos with subtitles that you can watch: 'Boy with luv' and 'ON' are very different and will give you an idea of just how wide-ranging these boys are both in their musical and their aesthetic styles (you should check out 'ON Kinetic Manifesto Film 🔥🔥). And there's also 'Intro:Persona', 'Interlude: Shadow' and 'Outro: Ego'. Each song is written and performed by one of the rappers in the group. I loved your reaction! 💜
Thank you for the reaction. You can check BTS- Black Swan art film performed by mn dance company. The instrumental is a little different and also the dancing is telling the story in a interesting way.

I think you should watch dionysus live perform & not today mv. You will like it ! This 2 songs are very uplifting
You are quite right....It's based on a quote by Martha Graham ""A dancer dies twice.... once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
Such a beautiful quote💜💜💜 And an absolute master-piece of a song 💜💜💜
@@septasoareousrex So true, and happy and relieved you guys liked it. Many Armys including myself feel it should have garnered them a Grammy.

That’s what I was thinking! That we should recommend ‘Mic Drop’ next😂

LOL. They are so different and sooooo good. 💜😎
Since you asked about the backstory of Black Swan/ the meaning of the song. It is about losing the passion for what you love, in BTSs case that's music. There is the quote from Martha Graham, that goes along with it: "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
BTS came to a point where they felt that way.
OH!! That is very interesting! Thank you!💜
Borahae!
Thank you for replying and telling me all these great insights into BTS. I’m on their journey and love them so much! ☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
Loving their writing styles and excited to hear more!💜💜
Thank you so much for watching and joining us on this journey!

It's called "Black Swan Art Film"...it was the video that started my BTS journey 💜
Yes. The video made me chills because so beautiful... It's art. 👍👍👍
At the beginning of the performance video it quotes:
"A dancer dies twice- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful"
The orchestral version of the song is even more majestic
you seriously understood this song. its amazing
I'm so glad!!!!! It's beautiful and they are great writers!! 💜
@@septasoareousrex they have so much more incredible music to discover. Considering RM & Suga are the primary song writers and producers in BTS , they always speak truth and from the heart.
We will probably watch that video. We like to try to interpret it in our own way and then see what the artists intentions were :)
I purple you 💜💜
This was my first Bts song that had me down the rabbit hole I am 43 and was in a dark place when they found me.
The creator wanted to add a few missing parts on some members.
great comment 💜
We may have been able to elaborate more on that. As writers we just don't like when an artist uses it in a lazy way. However BTS didn't and very much used it in an artistic way. We also didn't think about it being a way to interact with the crowd and people who don't speak their language! It's actually very smart and respectable. Moving forward we are interested to hear how they us this in their music 💜💜 :)
That's very interesting and incredibly relatable for us.
BTS are great live performers and singers/rappers even while dancing (some members revealed that they train singing on a treadmill), but it sounds as if the fans have some talent for singing as well 😆
I had to learn very quickly that nothing this group or their company does has no meaning or no connection.

map of the soul 7 is the album this song is on and its part of an overall storytelling arc and revolves around psychology and they go through persona, shadow and ego and i'm not the army to be explaining this but yes there is a story and this is kind of part of the "shadow" concept of trying to find their true selves ?? like the dark side of art is the fear of losing passion and the tannies literally live for performing so its a scary thought for them.... kbye

MMA 2019 is a phenomenal performance. It may hit different once they know more of the discography and connections within the songs. @@TangerineSunshine I agree, I watched it the first week I found BTS with no context and it was one of my first times seeing a live performance from them it totally blew my mind.
Really suggest watching Taylor Nakamoto’s “draft introduction to BTS”. Think getting to know the members individually will help.

So looking forward to your journey. Their live performance of this is amazing. Do you guys typically like to know a bit about the premise of the song before listening or like to hear and interpret on own first? Their lyrics and meaning of the song goes deep. 2 of the members are credited as writers
We usually like to listen and interpret it our own way and then look into the meaning after :)

Thank you so much for sharing.. I love how you got the meaning right away.. Loved listening to your thoughts.. see you next time.. I purple you 💜💜💜
You’re absolutely right that this song is about when one loses passion for their art or craft.

BTS In-house producer Pdogg said, "This song reflects the emotions the BTS members were feeling when it was written."
And according to the BTS description for the song, “The song lends voice to the band’s darkest fears-the music they do will one day cease to touch or move them. Yet, every time they come face to face with this “Black swan” within themselves, they hear voices calling out from deep within their hearts and are stricken with the realization that music is all they have. This track is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself.”
You'll love it's live performance at their "Permission To Dance: On Stage" concerts that they did in LA, LV and Seoul, South Korea.
Co Songwrites-Jhope, Suga
Pdogg(in house prod) is Main producer of Black Swan.
Composer- Pdogg, RM, Suga,Jhope
Hobi and Yoongi didn't cowrote black swan though
He did an absolutely beautiful job. It sounds very raw and personal so it makes sense that he would cry while writing it. 💜💜
@@jinsstyle agree but ofc they'll have some parts written by themselves cause they are one of the main Songwriters too
This reaction gives you another subscriber. 😊
Oh, and get used to the nananas and lalalas. 😏
Edit: Most of BTS' songs are part of a larger collective and therefore needs to be seen in context for the full meaning.
The overwhelming majority of Army has been sweet so we just shrug off the rude ones XD
This is a great explanation to why they do that in their songs and honestly it's completely respectable.
Borahae 💜💜
05:38 the moment Septa realizes there is no turning back..🤭🥰
Watch blood sweat and tears it's another masterpiece 🙌
We keep hearing this and will put it on the top of the list! 💜💜 :)
in my opinion BTS's most motivational/inspirational songs are :-
* 21st century girl * 00:00 * Magic shop * No more dream * Love myself * Not today * Path * Apaman * Epiphany * Young forever * 2! 3! * Dope * Wings.
you should react to those songs. you'll like it.💜
They understood the song very well.
J-Hope was a well-known urban dancer and learned to rap from RM and Suga. you will
Consider the dance leader.
Jimin specializes in contemporary dance, he was the valedictorian of his art school before joining the company. He is a vocalist and you can easily spot him in the MV.
Thank you! We love how diverse the interpretation of music can be💜💜
That is so cool!!!!

An example of their range - Outro “Tear “ live at Wembley ruclips.net/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/видео.html

Hopefully, you guys react to Rise of Bangtan after the introduction video from Taylor. It's really informative but has a lot of parts (whenever you're ready since ARMYs don't mind. you can react to one chapter each)
Also, BTS covers a lot of genres so it's not just pop, so I believe you guys will like some songs even if some don't end up being to your taste.

Such a beautiful song!!! 💜
I'm so sorry if my comment is a repeat but I didn't see anyone answering your question: the theater they filmed this m/v in is in California. L.A. if I remember correctly, it's used for a lot of various shoots because it's closed down.
thank you for telling us :) 💜💜💜💜 its absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We would love to be able to visit it!
Yo were spot on to the meaning of this song.
YAAAYYYY!!!!! We are so glad we interpreted the lyrics correctly! They are beautiful 💜
y'all kinda hit the nail on the head with the theming. this is actually the 2nd video associaated with this song. the first was a an orchestral version, performed by a russian dance company in an abandoned mall. it was prefaced with a quote by Martha Graham: "A dancer dies twice-- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
hi! i loved your commentary, you understood the song perfectly. also, the shadow dancer is jimin! he is also the one doing most of the solos in the mv, there's also a behind the scenes of him recording those parts. what you thought was ballet was actually contemporary dancing, jimin especialised in it in high school (he went to school specialised in the arts and was a top student) and he is, in my opinion, one of the best dancers in kpop. he actually had a very hard time with "idol choreography" because it wasn't the style he was majorly trained in. i feel like this was his time to truly shine with his dancing.
I really suggest Taylor Nakamoto's "a draft introduction to bts" it will help u to learn about each members personality, vocals and other stuff
I don't know how to express how much I love this song, it always gives me this feeling that it's like I identify myself even though I haven't been through such a situation, I think their voices and dance share a lot of sentiment
I absolutely love this song and performance. It shows their range and their love of the craft!

Thank you! We will make sure to check it out!! 💜
In my opinion, I would not recommend this channel "YT DKDKTV". It is kind of problematic and their videos explaining songs can be not accurate.
watching the mv ..then knowing the meaning behind the song /knowing the lyrics of the song then watching the live performance of it aswell as the behind the scene of the mv/performance..will gonna give you a different roller coaster ride of diging up with bts

Hello frm Malaysia..BTS is the reason i ever get to know people around the world..the power of Army💜💜
honestly, if it weren't for bts, i would've not dove too much into hip hop. my favorite bands are pearl jam, deftones, and many indie artists. bts brought me into the mainstream again and made me feel that even in this area, we get great lyricism. also, their daring approach to tapping different genres made me open myself up to those said genres even more. can't wait for you guys to experience more of bts musicality. 💜
I think you guys might enjoy some of their older songs like Fire, Not Today, and Dope. Also watch A Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (updated 2022) by Rice Squad. It takes you through how they were created, who the guys are and their discography. It’s very well done.🇨🇦💜
idk if anyone told you already but this song is part of their Map Of The Soul: 7 album
BTS have a theme in their every album, so this album is about the Persona, Shadow and Ego...and this album was inspired by the book Map of the Soul by Murray Stein which was written based on Carl Jung's theory about a person's relationship with the world and oneself... Persona is like how we want the world to see us, it's our mask... Shadow is the darkness within us, our fears and such which we sometimes ignore or we didn't know that it was there until an unexpected event happens to us and Ego which is the center of our consciousness...
so Black Swan is like under the Shadow... BTS always write songs that fits the concept of the album and personal at the same time, and it's so fascinating to learn these different layers 😊
the 3 rappers have solo songs in this album; Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow and Outro: Ego... i think these songs can explain the meanings better than I do lol
You guys better be ready cause these journey is full of “na na na na”s in the discography 😂😂😂

I was skimming through the comments, and couldn't see if anyone had said this yet, but BTS filmed this MV in the Los Angeles Theatre ouo They released a short behind the scenes of the MV shooting on the BANGTANTV channel (which they usually do after they drop an MV) ☺
Their videos always contain either little to no green screen, so they either shoot in a real location, or on a custom made set, and of course can have some post production edits to make certain scenes more intense.
I love how they have deep, meaningful songs like this, I love how they have their own love songs with some GORGEOUS lyrics, I love how they have scathingly emotional breakup songs, I love how they have songs that are just about having fun, like, they just song about what they WANT to sing about, and it's just >chef's kiss<
(okay rambling over)
You have 9 years of content and about 300 songs to catch up on. You don't have to worry about the journey ending anytime soon.

This is my favorite BTS song so far💜
