The reason your crops aren't growing is that they're not getting enough light. If you light them up with torches, they'll keep growing properly at night.
If they werent getting enough light to grow, they would pop back up. The sky also emits a constant 15 light for plants so they grow at the same rate no matter what if theyre under the sky
I could see "Killing a wither" being possible as a next step to this challenge. It would require a nether fortress nearby where you spawn in though, so it may not actually be possible either without a mod or something.
A german RUclipsr did this challenge without any mods "to make it easier" and he killied the ender dragon. "BastiGHG LEVEL=BORDER" if the language isnt an issue i absolutely recommend to watch it. Nothing is impossible in thos Game with zhis restriction, you only need to dedicate youreself completely to it. Building XP Farms and all that. I myself played this Challenge up until i reached lvl 200-ish.

I'd be interested to see a twist on this aiming for The End. Maybe instead of increasing by 1 block per level, increasing a number of blocks equal to the level (I.E. achieving level 1 increases by 1, level 2 increases by another 2, 3 by another 3 and so forth). The increase growing like that makes death more punishing (losing half your levels means losing over half your land), and it's feasible since reaching level 50 would mean having increased your border by ~1275 blocks, and 70 would mean 2485. Entirely possible to reach level 50 before the end if you farm XP, and balancing using XP for enchants with keeping it for space could be interesting.
BastiGHG did this challenge before. (German RUclipsr and it's called something like "Level=Border"). He played in hardcore, so no deaths allowed, and with zero mods whatsoever and he killed the ender dragon in the end. So it's definitely possible without any changes to the levels to get to the end.

Also we do not have a seperate word for "bell" as in a bell tower for example, we say klocka which also means wrist watch, so you can mean both bell and wrist watch depending on in which context you use the word.
If its the same script i played, the border doenst get smaller again but only continues to grow after you reached the level again you had as it last grew bigger. I died in my World with level 69 (lol) and was very happy as i found out it doesnt shrink ^^ But yeah you should use villagers cause they give you already enchanted diamond gear on master level and also give you more Xp, with an iron Farm you can gain levels pretty quick using villagers
Little tip for trees, they need enough light to grow. So torches near them helps them grow faster: im pretty sure moonlight isn't enough to grow them Another tip, you CAN plant crops on dry farmland. The growth is significantly slower, but it IS an option. Just....be sure to ALSO plant in a row or individually when you do this. The penalty from being dry and the penalty for being planted in a "blob" stack to make growth ridiculously slow.

You could have tried to get a lot of sand or gravel. Place those in the nether and they will fall to the bottom creating a pillar, You can then create a stair down around that pillar. The hard part would be finding enough sand or gravel
I’d like to see a version where the border increases exponentially. Each level increases the border by that number instead of by 1 each time. So by the time you get to level 20 the border would be 321. Not crazy big but gives more wiggle room for harder goals while doing this challenge

@ShadowWolf2023-yp5zgif you hoe ground away from water there's a random but usually longish delay before it un hoes. Any seed planted innit will then prevent it from being un hoed. As far as i know all vanilla cropland crops will grow like that. It also grows faster if you plant crops in alternating rows rather than a big blob. And light it up for nighttime growth. His crops grew so slow cause he only used water.

Intentional structures shouldn’t be directly under spawn. There should be an incentive to have to obtain a certain amount of XP. Like end portal ~100 blocks away (or whatever the width of the end island is so it prevents you from going there when you can’t beat it).
Would breeding the chicke s at the start not have been better? A little slower, due to waiting for seeds to grow, but unlimited food, breeding/killing chicken XP.
(Tip) Hey bale blocks reduce fall damage by 80%, they can be a good substitute for the nether if you don't have powder snow next time, also lava can be cleared with grave or sand by letting it fall in as it will not just delete where you place it but also where it falls.
Honestly I’m super surprised you didn’t immediately make a enchantment table as soon as finding lava. Always try keeping your levels at 1 since you’ll get levels faster

beating the ender dragon would be great to see. the end pillars are in a 43 block radius circle from the middle, so it’s definitely possible to get a large enough area for the fight
Yo Robert, small piece of advice when building a simple exp farm. Use water in the corners so that they pushed into the hole in the middle. Also, use a torch at your farm so it will also grow at night :)
maybe increase the amount of border increase by each level its self, so at reaching level 10 will increase border by +10, lvl 11 border increase to +11 and so on.
Load the normal minecraft, make a specific seed, find the stronghold, load the mod, make a new map with the seed and teleport to the coordinates before the border is up. I think copy paste would work. If not something like autohotkey to "type" it out to make sure you are quick enough... Or just type like a maniac lol. If you want to fight the dragon this could work. Like this people so he sees it and make it happen!
53:38 using logs as fuel is very inefficient, crafting them into planks gives you 4x the burn time (and making charcoal gives you slightly more than that, net 7 items smelted per log vs 6 for planks)
You should just make it where you can control where the boarder expands so you could just keep growing in one direction to get to the end portal/nether fortress. Maybe if you made specific goals and the boarder would grow in the directions of those goals as you completed them, so for instance there would be a goal to get blaze rods to complete the end portal so the boarder would only grow in the direction of a blaze spawner until you accomplished the goal of collecting whatever number you deemed necessary then the boarder would start moving in the direction of the next goal.

You could do a XP Border fight the wither XP border skyblock XP border complete achievements (each one could give a decent amount of border distance. Weighted ovc) XP border village defense. Waves ramp up every night XP border ocean world with a goal of ocean monument XP border thru MC editions XP border vs another player
For the farm I would have trees on trees into the sky to farm wood for charcoal for torches and wood for sticks for ladders. You should be able to use lava and retain the bucket to smelt a full stack of what ever. Also would have been able to clear out some of the lava pool below you using this method 🤷 GG though👏
For the dragon fight you should just scout a seed that has a stronghold close to spawn rather than implementing a mod to do so, but I guess it wouldnt matter either way, would love to see a dragon fight end goal

Kinda, with how portal linking works you'd need to move the portal in the nether and break the old one and make sure the overworld coordinates translate to being within 100 blocks of the nether one or on the exact coordinates via calculating them. It can be messy sometimes fixing linking issues 😅

You do get to remove leaves faster with hoe but if you want to have a higher chance of getting sapling you need to have it enchanted with fortune.

If you died to reset your levels and then set your spawn point at the edge of the boundary each time it may be possible to get much farther
Quartz may not have much use but in this game mode it’s great since mining it give lots of XP.
oak, and only oak saplings (unless new ones) can grow with 0 room between the next, you dont need to spread them out

Kinda, with how portal linking works you'd need to move the portal in the nether and break the old one and make sure the overworld coordinates translate to being within 100 blocks of the nether one or on the exact coordinates via calculating them. It can be messy sometimes fixing linking issues 😅
