@@dylanauger7316 yeah the closest we would have gotten would likely be the United States taking a similar path if not it would likely be something more akin to the Russian civil war
Yeah, all that debt France and Britain took from the US is the ONLY real reason they got involved. If there weren’t so many loans taken, they could’ve stayed out of the war easily. People talk about the Lusitania and the Zimmerman telegram but no, those huge loans from the USA put loads of indirect pressure to make sure they’d get their money back.
Yup, and this was after constant arm twisting. The US house did not want to approve these at all because of foreign entanglements. However they got reluctantly approved on humanitarian arguments...as well at the time the British Pound was the international reserve currency. Honestly even a victorious Germany would have been a better outcome. There wouldn't have been a need to release Lenin to Russia. Causing the communist revolution and thus the Cold War. The US at the time would have gone a ideological shift back to isolationism and removal of the Fed Reserve. At the time people were still not happy about the Fed Reserve act. On top of Wilson trying to push Global Americana. Then again it's like asking...what if Wilson lost the election and Theodore Roosevelt won.

Yep. Hence the conclusions reached in the video are bullshit. Plus even back then the US economy was far more resilient than that or any European country (or all of them put together really) and America could have decided "fuck it, let's take Germany out" and actually done it, followed by instituting Pax Americana from the Mediterranean to the Russian border.
Yes and no. The loans weren't paid back but after WW2 the US convinced it's allies to allow it to store their gold reserves. The US still has those reserves to this day despite being asked to return them
My favorite thing, is there is a mod, which I can’t remember the name of, but it’s from the point of view of someone from the Kaiserreich world making a what if the Entente won WW1
Dude I dont have to play a mod to see what a prelude to a second civil war looks like in the united states, I'm fuckikg living it, right down to the speeding towards another great depression.
I honestly think KaiserReich is just a German power fantasy and that I found several things in the mod that made so little sense it wasn't even funny, the America part was pretty interesting though.
I feel like this mod is biased with germany cuz literally everyone just frames them as the bad guys and always give them bad things for their downfall but the good stuff that can make them a like the U.S. a peacekeeper and not some warmongering nation
An interesting alternate history mod would be if the Missouri compromise never took place, and if Washington's decision to only allow new states to join as anti-slave states was maintained.
Idk this doesn't seem right. It's not like Germany had the money to pay back their loans after the war, I think the exact same situation would still play out regardless. Especially since just because Germany won doesn't wipe away their debt to the US unless they also wanted to go to war with the US who spent the whole war sending supplies to the UK and France and getting right off of it(that's part of what caused the roaring 20's in the first place)
They still have a depression in Kaiserreish, they've stayed afloat though because of war reparation payments, it's the reverse of real life where Germany payed France and Britain keeping them afloat till they got back up as well. But neither the french nor the British had the industry to get the money to pay back the loans and still get national income like the Germans had, so Germany just gets a few years of economic recession before it starts booming, and just like the US, too much booming economy causes a collapse in the economy and a massive depression, now kick started in Germany instead of the US.
Given that Germany hasn't erupted into civil war after the allies decimated their economy (aka the real reason for WWII according to Churchill) I doubt America would, but a neat thought I guess
Depends, from what I understand or I could be wrong, US was never fully paid back during or after WW1, WW2 came around and US gave more "loans". Look at Ukraine, I still believe they cannot win but in the slim chance they do win, do you think we won't put them in debt for all the weapons and ammunition we "loaned" them? US might have still had a roaring 20s, or in fear that Germany would set eyes on them for supplying France and Britain, declared war while probably looking to China and Japan for an alliance.
Nobody ever actually paid back loans taken out as part of the war, the US forgave all of that debt at the end of the conflict. Britain paid back Marshall plan loans which were for reconstruction but came about after the war was over.
From what happened in the great depression before WW2, I doubt there would be a civil war in america, I think most likely the same thing would happen as happened during the great depression.
What would’ve happened if England said “screw the French and the Belgians” and simply sided with Germany (or remained neutral or something like that)? I always wonder this
