One of the most compelling realizations that guided me to atheism was the realization that religion is mostly a matter of geography. I'm sure most people reading this comment have whatever religion they have because they were born into it, and if you had just _happened_ to have been born elsewhere, you would most likely have a different religion and you would believe just as strongly as you do now that you are right. Does that not bother you? Isn't it obvious how that *is not* a pathway to truth?

While admittedly a gross oversimplification, soteriological equifinality is a myth constructed by mankind. Only Christianity has a sophisticated enough worldview to completely explain who we are, how we are, who God is, how he relates to us, and properly frames not only the necessity for grace, mercy, and justice, but how they apply to the human condition and HAD to be fulfilled by Jesus alone. No other deity/deities had the ability to propitiate on our behalf.

You made out as if they all were. Matthew was the tax collector of Capernuam. Therefore he could read Aramaic and Latin and Greek. We have copies of works from the second century. Lord willing this testimony may help you.
I was an atheist, raised as an atheist, by atheists; made a study of biology both in school and in my spare time, as well as studying atheist arguments and debate tactics. I was a militant atheist in my high school years, and would talk about atheism with anybody who would listen. By the time of my 4th semester of college courses, I had become suicidally depressed.
I had experienced every pleasure I had hoped to experience in life by the age of 18, and every single one I found to be completely empty of meaning.
Sex, boring. I was literally cataloging the experience so I could talk about it later.
Drugs, pointless. Just trying to forget the hopelessness.
I had become perpetually more aware of an unavoidable fact, that every action I took ultimately could not accomplish anything.
Because no matter how far reaching my achievements were, how many lives I touched, it all turns to dust in the end. Entropy, the heat death of the universe, now cometh the end, not with a bang but a whimper.
This degree of nhilism ultimately culminated in a suicide attempt by pills. As I closed my eyes on what I expected to be my last day, I felt my heart starting to slow down. That was when I panicked and realized I didn't want to die, I just wanted to live in a world with some hope in it.
This led me to attempt to uncover whatever spiritual truth, if any, existed in the universe. I began to try to build a personal religion based on everything I had learned about newtonian physics, quantum physics (very rudimentary understanding), biology, evolution, astronomy, and combining that with a study of world religions.
I ended up with something that was a blended form of buddhism, western paganism, and evolutionary theory.
After performing consecration rituals, I became (at first) pleasantly surprised when I actually came into contact with spirits. They spoke to me inside my thoughts, and opened my mind to new possibilities (based largely on the multiverse theory) of reincarnation and a reality that cycled through every concievable possible reality in an infinite loop.
This then led to its own eventual hopelessness, as I reasoned that an infinite number of lives meant that by definition I would die every possible concievable manner of death in every concievable possible form over and over again forever. That made wildlife documentaries horrifying I can tell you, ever heard of cordiceps fungus?
I began increasingly to feel like I had begun slowly going insane, losing a bit more of my grip on reality every day.
The spirits began taunting me, pushing me towards suicide. Terrifying me with images of violent slaughters and laying the blame for thousands of dead at my feet. (After all, if one lives every concievable life, one commits every concievable crime; no matter how horrible)
I nearly committed suicide by sticking my finger into a light socket at the direction of a spirit, but thankfully God had his hand in my life even there.
By shear happenstance, I was wearing a souvenier t-shirt from Hell, in Grand Cayman; and was struck by an unmistakeable certainty that if I died I would wake up in Hell for real.
Later, I opened up a Bible to read through Revelation (mostly for kicks, though it had become evident to me in my amalgamated religion I had made a point of avoiding reading anything Christian)
And this is the absolute hardest part to describe, the only verses I actually saw directly convicted me of sins I had committed.
      Sorcery, guilty.
      Theft, guilty.
      Liar, guilty.
      Murderer, guilty.
I was guilty, and I knew it. Every single verse I saw was like staring into the face of a judge who knows all about you and is about to throw the book at you when he passes sentence.
I was terrified, but I also knew something unmistakeable; the spirits that had been tormenting me RAN when I opened that Bible. I tried to run too, I put it aside and curled into a ball.
But something inside me said, if its true you can't ignore this.
And as I came back to it, then God spoke to me of repentance; remission of sins, and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
I turned around, called on the name of the Lord, and he heard me.
And here is possibly the most amazing thing that has happened to me since, I'm sane. The evil spirits no longer have power over me because I belong to God.
If you've made it this far, I know you don't believe in spirits, evil or otherwise; so Ill tell it like you'll understand.
I heard voices in my head that taught me things, gave me knowledge of some scientific research I'd never heard of weeks before I'd ever end up reading about it. And later these voices tried to convince me to kill myself.
Yet now in Christ, their power is broken; and I am walking around without the constant fear of voices in my head.
The gospel of Jesus set me free from what you would probably describe as some form of paranoid psychosis, no medication or therapy sessions necessary.
And when I say psychosis, I mean voices speaking in my head telling me to commit acts of cannibalism, kill my family, kill myself, or commit acts of biological terrorism.
It cannot be overstated how powerfully God worked in my heart, it cannot be overstated that God took me as an insane addict and turned me into a sane free man.
God is REAL, Jesus is God in the flesh, he died for you and me both; trust him today. Please.

Michael Jourdan Nope, God isn't the author of good and evil, only good. Evil is the absence of good, not it's opposite. What you're proposing is dualism, and it's a classic heresy.
Another example is heat and cold. Cold is not the opposite of heat, it's the absence of heat energy. To get really detailed into the thermodynamics at play, when all molecular movement in the form of heat ceases, the state is known as absolute zero. It's the coldest possible temperature. But it's not cold because it has abundant "coldness"; it's cold because there is absolutely zero present heat energy.

Two years ago, I underwent a powerful evangelical conversion experience. It took me over a year to accept what I already knew but desperately wanted not to be true, that this religious experience was simply a mental event/brain state. I was in a low point in my life and the message of Christianity was extremely attractive to me, even though deep down I knew it was false. This repressed knowledge and the strong desire for Christianity to be true is what led me to study apologetics as rapaciously as I did. It offered me the assurance that even though I knew my beliefs were probably false I nonetheless had good reasons to suppose they were true. The reason Christianity and other religions continue to exert such strong influence over people, in part at least, is all to do with a psychological wish for it all to be true.

With so many people praying for me the cancer became worse, and over the years of my own praying for valid good things , none of these things came about and in most cases got worse not better!. I refer to my joining the faith as a mental abduction by its followers while I was going through a very difficult and stressful time, and was looking for comfort in it and was ripe in the taking to try and except the delusion due to the fact that everyone in it appeared so happy and loving. Stepping out of the box of conformity to fit in with the herd, I could see that I had become hypnotized in a sense to this cult of thought. It is difficult now that I'm free, and hard to erase all the fear and condemnation that has been installed in me. When the believers ask me if I am born again I can say with a smile and say...yes, I now know the truth and am free from the enslavement of religion and delusional thinking. As an atheist, as I’ve grown I can see the good in religion. It provides many good systems of thinking and morality. It explains how to behave in a way that has a positive effect on human emotion and motivation. The rituals can also be healthy. However, the false stories of creation or how these beliefs came to these creators of religion should be taken with a grain of salt. A false story with a good message is still something to think about and take value from.

I want to confirm what this video was saying. I was a Mormon for more than two decades. I did the experiment the Mormon missionaries ask you to do, and I prayed about it. I had a religious experience, and received what I accepted as witness from God. Moreover, I heard a voice claim something was absolutely true, and the conviction that it was true entered my mind, moving into the core of my personality.
From that point on, everything I encountered was filtered by that experience. It was a delusion. I now believe that the experience was self-created so that I could receive the benefits of the Mormon lifestyle. and I did, I had a great marriage, raised a posse of kids, worked very hard, and was very happy.
Now that my kinds are grown and my wife has died, I had an experience where I broke free from the delusion. I felt it when it left me. It was a very odd sensation. It was the hardest thing I ever did. I am not as happy now as I was before, but I would rather know the truth. I was never comfortable having to deal with the ancient cultural restrictions from the Bible, and glad to be rid of it.
I still keep the health laws taught by Mormons, and I am single and not sexually active. But I am free to decide my own politics, especially when it comes to sexual taboos, sexual orientation and gender identity.
I am still a theist, but I don't belief any religion is true or could be true. God is personal, and no one has the right to ascribe a religious practice for someone other than themselves. My God is where I go when I need comfort, confirmation or an idea. Perhaps one day I might change my mind about his existence, but I have had a relationship with him for so long that I would miss him too much if I let go of him now.
For now, it is enough to discard religion. And the vast knowledge I have concerning Mormonism could be useful in helping others to make the transition out.
The thing that triggered my escape from my delusion was an article about a Man named Hans Matteson. I had always thought I was strong in my faith, and so I had no reticence in exposing myself to things that appeared counter to what I thought was true. Hans Matteson was an Area Authority in the Mormon church. As a result, members would bring concerns to him concerning conflicts that they experienced. There were 3 common topics: The translation of the Book of Abraham from an Egyptian papyrus, Polygamy, and Joseph Smith's seer stone.
So I decided to study more on these 3 topics.
The conflict concerning the translation of the Book of Abraham is that current day Egyptologist translate the papyrus very differently than Joseph Smith did. I resolved this in my mind by discovering an article in the Times and Seasons newspaper, where I found an article written by Oliver Cowdery, who was one of the founders of the Mormon church. In that article, Oliver mentions that there were 2 papyrus rolls. We only have one, so the extra information that Joseph has in the Book of Abraham must have come from the missing papyrus. No more conflict. However, when I attempted to tell Mormon authorities about it, they were completely uninterested in what I found. The official position of the Mormon church is that the Book of Abraham should be treated as if it was revealed to Joseph Smith without the medium of written characters on paper. This astounded me.
Concerning Polygamy, my mind was already comfortable with it. But as I studied it, it was the implementation of Polygamy that shocked me. It was kept secret. People were tricked into committing to do it before they knew what it was. I was really angered by Joseph Smith's behavior with this. A high ranking Mormon leader finally stood up to Joseph Smith, and that leader was excommunicated. He created a newspaper with the help of other Ex-Mormons and Non-Mormons called the Nauvoo Expositor. The first issue laid out all the tings that Joseph had done secretly. As a result, as Mayor of Nauvoo, Joseph Smith and the city council voted to destroy the Printing Press. As the General of the Nauvoo Militia, Joseph Smith ordered the destruction. Joseph Smith was jailed because he violated the constitution of the United States, by denying people their right to a free press. The townspeople rose up and assassinated him. Joseph Smith is not a religious martyr, he was a tyrant.
Yet this was not enough to have me deny that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I had to go one step further
The thrid item was that there are two ways that the gold plates were translated into English text: the "interpreter" and a seer stone. Most Mormons only know about the "interpreters", which is erroneously called a Urim and Thumim. The seer stone method of translation was where Joseph Smith had a stone which he claimed allowed him to sense where things were buried underground. He used this to help people look for buried treasure or decide where to dig wells. When he used it to translate the book of Mormon, he put it into a hat, then put his face into the hat to block out the light. In the darkness, he would see the words of the English translation of the Gold Plates, and he would read them aloud to a scribe. Two of the scribe, Emma Smith, Joseph's wife, and Martin Harris, gave testimony concerning how the translation was done, and what they described was the seer stone method of translating. The remaining scribe, Oliver Cowdery, remained completely silent on how the translation was done. Joseph Smith said that the Angel Moroni took the "interpreters" back after Martin Harris lost the translation manuscript, and added that the rest of the translation was done using the seer stone. So it seems that the "interpreters" were never used.
The interpreters never existed. They were described like a pair of spectacles with crystals like diamonds for lenses. However, the interpreters did not just give the translation with no effort on the wearer of the spectacles. the translators was expected to reaspon the translation out in his mind, and the interpreters would tell him when he got it correct. Then the text of the Book of Mormon would be told in Joseph's use of language, and not God's use of language. This was an "alternate history" which Joseph Smith fabricated to explain the thousands of grammatical errors in the first edition of the Book of Mormon. These grammatical errors were "rural English", such as: I were a going to where they was, which I not ought to do, ...
God had told the Three witnesses of the Book of Mormon that the translation was correct. If the Book was written using the seer stone, then God was at fault for the bad grammar. If the Book was translated suing the interpreters, then Joseph Smith was at fault for the bad grammar. When I realized that Joseph Smith was willing to rewrite history for his own convenience and marketing of the church, it was all over for me. I could then see my delusion for what it was

This person engaged in some logical fallacies. He begins with the premise that all religions are false, a genetic fallacy and also a broad generalization implying that if 2 religions are false, the third, and all others, are also false. One can't do that without falling into errors in reasoning and logic.
When he compared these first 2 religions, he chose 2 incidents which were singular in nature, no witnesses. But, when he discussed Christianity, he inferred there were no witnesses to the miracles nor were there any witnesses to the resurrection. In fact there were many witnesses to the miracles and resurrection; there are written records from those who were witnesses. Hence he is guilty of the logical fallacy of a false analogy. In order to prove his point that there were no witnesses to the resurrection, he needs to demonstrate that the accounts which exist are either faulty or fallacious. In fact the names of many people are used who could verify the accuracy of the written records. He also ignores the point that none of the critics at the time deny the empty tomb. All they did was try to explain away the empty tomb. He doesn't even bother to do that much. All he says is that it is delusional to think such things could happen.
He argues from the point that Christianity must be fallacious, gives no evidence to support his claim, and then uses his claim as proof that he is right. In other words he uses his premise in the conclusion, circular reasoning. For example; miracles are impossible, the resurrection of Jesus is a miracle, since miracles are impossible the resurrection never occurred.
Not very well done. Too many holes in his arguments. Too many unsupported assumptions. To many errors in reasoning and logic.

    The Christian Absurdity:
Well there's this guy right, we'll call him the 'creator' and what he did was, he created a man out of nothing in his own image (I know right, this is why he is love). And because he was lonely and all that shit, he ripped out a rib of his perfect man (made in his own image) and made a woman. Like there was no one standing there at all, and then poof all of a sudden a man and a woman, fully grown ready to have sex.
Anyway, the reason why this is all true and everything is not just because of that damn book (where this creator told us all he did this), but because I love him more than my own kids. Like when your baby is first born and you say Wow I love my baby BUT not as much as I love this creator guy, because he gave me sin (2000 years ago, and every person before that burns in hell of course, or is in limbo). And because I'm scared of his almighty powers and shit, THAT's why its all true, and that's why I love him more than my family or anyone, and that's why because he told me in text that I must believe this (without the tiniest bit of evidence OR reasoning) or else bad shit will happen to me, because I'm a sinner and I really should hate myself, until I'm dead in (mythical) heaven, THAT's all the reasons why I love him. I wish he was here for me to hug him, I mean my baby would be put on the floor that second, because I love the creator more and I want to tell the world this.
Can a Christian here please confirm THAT's what they believe over the fact of evolution?
I want to be quite clear here, that THIS is what they are arguing for all the time. :)
Ideally read it twice to make perfectly sure you fully agree with that nonsense, I mean feeling.

You asked for a Christian to answer your question.
You asked if we believe the fact of evolution over the Bible story and I want to give my honest opinion on it.
First, real quick, you told some things that are biblically untrue/things that was not even found in the Bible. Like limbo, that word or place does not appear one time so I can't believe it's real.
Now, to answer 100% honestly, wether I believe the Bible or the fact of evolution more. I don't believe eitehr of them fully, yet at the same time I can look at both of them and see some truth in them. I don't believe the Genesis story in the bible, I also don't believe how they say evolution began 2 billions years ago.
I say this both about the Genesis in the Bible and evolution because both of them have logical gaps found in them and both of them we will truly never know how it began or worked.
Basically they are all theories people came up with trying to make since of something we do not fully understand.
Now I believe it does not really matter how we got here wether it gets evolution/natural selection/creation/aliens brought us to earth/ or any other ideology that explains how we are here.
We are here and we should and we should have a nice time.
      Have any questions?

@@dickersoncharlie4961 Thanks for your response of my 6 years ago post.
When you said you don't know if it's evolution (and you said it's only a theory, not science truth of course) or if it were aliens that brought life here 3.5 billion years ago (not 2 B).
      That's about abiogenesis!
It has zero to do with evolution.
By the way I think you got mixed up with approx. 200,000 years of human species, but 3.5 billion years of known life on Earth.
People who still don't accept evolution (let's face it, it's due to religous beliefs) really aren't worth arguing with.
We have more knowledge of evolution than we do of gravity!
And a scientific theory is not a personal theory. A scientific theory must be based of known facts. Anyway it's patronising to tell any adult this.
      Abiogenesis is unknown.
But it's not spooky unknown, definitely not. We have about 10 leading hypithesies on it, none include fairies, or Gods done it. You know why? Because no known evidence of fairies or Gods - NONE.
      The steps are:
      Show a God is possible.
THEN show it was the Christian God.
      THEN show it created stuff.
All 3 not done by anyone!
It saddens me you don't or partly don't accept evolution. In my view its merely a lack of knowledge you have (that we could resolve). But the issue is clearly your religous beliefs, this is causing you to remain wilfully ignorant, and that's a shame.
I was going to end there, but I'll throw something in.
It could have been a God, yep who knows what caused Abiogenesis (Although scientists state they should have the answer in a decade, and science predictions DO come true).
But yep it could have been a God BUT the time to believe that is after the evidence and/or reasoning is shown, of course!

@@kimsland999 you told me that it saddens you that I don't or partly except evolution
It's not that I don't accept it. I just don't accept it 100% because there are parts that don't really make since and a couple logic gaps I know. I'm also like that with the Bible and being a Christian, I see things like the Adam and Eve story and see logic gaps and I choose not to believe it.
I do know certain principles of evolution are right and correct, I took honors biology in highschool and they taught me about biology and I studied about it and If I recall I got a B on that test over it, so it's not that I'm "willfuling ignorant" I'm just being honest. I don't 100% trust everything in evolution or bible.
In my opinion, I put enough effort and time into studying evolution (I know a lot of people would just blow it off and say it's non since) shows that I'm not trying to be "willing ignorant". I just know both views have flaws in them.
Since I'm acknowledging neither one of the other is 100% right talking about things we don't know for a fact makes me pretty sensible. So don't be sad for me, I have a fair amount of intelligence. I don't know everything but I know a little.

Lets start with the problems listed at the end. Problem 1) Makes people superstitious. Umm, so what? If prayer has no effect, but it makes the person feel better, then who cares? It doesn't hurt our species. Problem 2) people believe its OK to die. So what? If you don't believe in Heaven, then you should be glad that they are dying and strengthening the gene pool. Problem 3) Belief that the world will be destroyed. It will be. Stars eventually die. the only hope for our species is to build a star ship.
Now, my problem with this video. 1) You can use words like "magical" to make anything sound stupid. Here's a story: Once upon a time there was nothing. Then there was this MAGICAL flash of light where all matter was made. One giant rock had a unique mixture of primordial ooze that when combined with zappy flashes in the sky created a living creature. Over many many years, these creatures became more and more intelligent and shape-shifted into thousands of forms! None of these oddly shaped beings knew of their origin until the sorcerers looks through their MAGICAL "telescopes" and used magical calculations to discover all sorts of information about that first magical flash of light which they then called "The Big Bang"
Here's the deal. There is evidence, then there is how evidence is interpreted. No one is delusional, they just interpret evidence differently than you. That doesn't make them bad for the species. It might make them wrong, but jumping to a conclusion that all people should be healed from their religion is extremely ignorant.
Yes, religion has caused wars, but it has also given to the poor, built orphanages, and to this day continues to provide more food and shelter in the US for needy people than any other organization. If that's bad for humanity, then I'd rather be an ant.

    • @VeselkoKelava
      @VeselkoKelava 8 лет назад +1

Religiousness is not genetic and even if it was, do you really think anyone should be glad people die for the sake of gene pool. You're an idiot.
Everyone knows the world will probably be destroyed, but Christians think it will be very soon, so they don't bother to preserve the enviroment for the future and then we are all fucked. Also, the only hope is to build a spaceship? You're an idiot.
When someone uses a telescope, and you say they used magical "telescope" is completely different then when someone comes back from dead without any naturally explainable methods and in fact AGAINST all natural biological processes. That is magic, because claims not to be natural. And if you think telescopes are magical, then you're an idiot.
There are people who look at the evidence and interpret it as if the Earth is flat. Not delusional, you say? Very well. Do you think people like this should be shown the error of their thinking?
Religious organization have done charity work, true. Secular organizations have, too. Ever heard of Red Cross? But do you know have many children die every day, because religious people will not allow stem cell research, that would eventually cure these diseases? And why do they not allow it? No reason, except those that come from religion. How many child lives would you say religion is worth? A million? How many children should die before you reconsider the benevolence of religion? Or maybe you need for your child to die before you start thinking?

but, in the bible, the things are magical because they have never actually been seen and we have no proof or scientific evidence that they exist. telescopes were made by humans, sp therefore you can't call them magical and make it sound dumb that way. and with the big bang, it also wasn't magical because it got to such a hot dense state that it expanded, like when you shake a can of soda and it bubbles up. nothing proven by science is magical, however in these stories none of what's said can be proven, and the things that happened are literally impossible in the world, so they are 'magical'

Religion conditions us to think we have all the answers stifling cultivation of the intellect. When we have answers we don't need questions. Questions lead to truth, understanding, and progress. Religion is the biggest impediment to mankind's progress, quality of life and survival.

I agree that True Christianity is a bubble of sorts. I think its important to note that this bubble, this faith in God that I have cannot possibly be burst, no matter how many cartoons and insults you create to degrade my relationship to the one true God, who is Jesus, the Christ of God. It's in poor taste to speak for me, portraying me as someone who looks at others in the degrading manner as you. I do not love my sin, so I ask Gods forgiveness and empowerment over that sin through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. The life I live demonstrates Gods will and love for mankind. So, be a nice humanist, why don't you, and quit wasting your time feeding your own pride by belittling others and robbing God of the glory due to His name. Jesus died for all, He conquered death and Hell and is coming back to judge the world in righteousness and truth. I love Jesus. He is worthy.

Not theism itself: but specifically religion.
Theism is a broader propositional term to the nature of our existence. The universe itself is alive and is aware of itself through us. Religion is about moral separating, magical super intelligences that demand worship and give a fuck about what only one universal species and their own little individual prayers.
      Belief is benign until religion.
There is no room in religion for propositional logical belief; only submission to false made up knowledge.
There is no need for accountability in illogical belief systems.

I have no understanding of how Christians and believers are ruining society, never have I as a Christian, tried to ruin society with my belief. Many of us forget that whether Jesus was real or not, his teachings were that of love and selflessness. Matthew 5:39 "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." The teachings of Jesus tell us that in no circumstances should we fight fire with fire. If someone disagrees with us, do not judge them, if they hate you, or say "I am greater than you," you don't say to them "No, I am as great, or greater than you," instead you say, "That is right, you ARE greater than me." Christianity has historically bread morals into society for generations, and while Christians can be pompous, selfish, and entirely contradictory to Christ's teachings, Christianity isn't.
Jesus created the famous golden rule, "do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." You wish to be treated with respect, love, friendship, and dignity, so be the change you wish to see in people, and treat OTHERS that way, and if they treat you the opposite in return, if they instead push you, and spit on you, that doesn't matter, continue to hold them above you.
Jesus taught us to strive to reclaim the innocence of our childhood, children know only love and play, and their minds are not yet tempted by temptations of the flesh which corrupt people, Jesus said "Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven." Sometimes, because of human nature, we can't meet up to these goals, so Jesus gives us infinite chances as long as we repent, and stick steadfast to his word, because his forgiveness is infinite. Jesus has bread passionate, God loving, God fearing people into this world, who believe and have faith in him, and because of the fact that THEY believe that someone gave their life for them so that they could be with God, they try everyday to shape themselves into a better person than who they were the day before. So this video is meaningless, there are loads of videos like it, they have done nothing to change people's faith, and these videos only cause people to be sad or angry, this video is about losing hope in God, and seeking immorality and modern liberalism, it is about ignorantly denying God, even though there is no evidence that there absolutely is none, and it is trying to walk on people's faith and freedom. Quite frankly, this video is insulting and controversial, just like this videos proclaims Christians are, in the end, this video is hypocritical, and whoever created it, should have thought before making it, because they could have just left it alone, and allowed people to continue believing in whatever they wish.

***** I am sorry, but I follow from the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels. Can you read to me a quote that Jesus makes, telling people to kill native Americans? Let alone "colored people?" Behold! You can't my friend, because there is no such quote, and Jesus never spoke of people with "color to their skin," because the skin color of a human being is insignificant, and meaningless to him, and should be to anyone who is a TRUE Christian. If you kill other humans, you are contradicting the TEACHINGS of The Bible, Exodus 20:13 "You shall not murder." Pretty simple

    • @christianblack9426

And yes, do you not know that Christianity has done plenty of good things? Christianity BIRTHED the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Christian preacher. Nelson Mandela was a Christian, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela lead to the end of Apartheid in South Africa. Christianity, ages ago, ended the murder of slaves in the coliseums in Rome, and later ended the Roman empire itself. Christianity even lead to healthcare for the masses, and education for the common people. Christianity has bread morals into generations of people regardless of the color of their skin, and generations of people have been raised Christians, and Jesus has spiritually lifted up, and IS lifting up plenty of people. Christianity makes people happy, and it only does good, he who is Christian, and kills another, has commit a sin, and has become separate from God. Jesus wishes for all people to reclaim the innocence of their childhood. Matthew 18:3 "Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like the LITTLE CHILDREN, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven."

***** The Bible does not condone slavery, slavery was in place at that time in history. And people who were poor sometimes sold themselves as slaves so they could have food and shelter. Nowhere in the Bible does God say, "I God condone all forms of slavery."
Instead, The Bible explicitly states that you cannot steal and sell people as slaves, like what happened in Africa. “Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death” (Exodus 21:16) That was the law in the Old Testament. Besides, the NEW TESTAMENT says THIS about slaves. Ephesians 6:9 "Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don't threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites." Slavery was a historical thing, that God didn't condone, however it simply was. However was not the entire Exodus about God FREEING SLAVES? Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

***** I have already heard about the theory that Krishna is God, yet he is not. "Christ" is Greek for "Anointed one" or "Messiah." And I did not want an argument, you didn't have to reply to my original comment. And, I am okay, I am a Christian, not a Hindu. The word 'Krishna' literally means "black," and he is known as being 'dark' and 'handsome.' There are hardly and parallels between Krishna and Jesus. Krishna was the 8th son of Vasudeva and Devaki, the name of their FIRST son was "Kirtiman." Jesus was born of a Virgin. The celebration of Krishna’s birthday is one of the most prominent festivals in India, which takes place in the late summer or early fall, Jesus's TRUE birth is unknown, but is celebrated in the winter (December 25th). Krishna died when the hunter Jara shot him in the sole of his foot, Jesus was crucified (because crucifixion historically took place at that time in the Roman empire.) Krishna died not for our sins but in fulfillment of two curses made against him and his clan, first: the curse of the widow Gandhari, for not stopping the battle in which her husband Dhritarashtra died,12 and second, the curse of the Brahmanas, for a stunt Krishna’s son, Samba, played on some holy men. However Jesus died for our sins. Jesus instructed his disciples to teach the gentiles (non-Jews [Krishna wasn't a Jew]) of the Gospel. And the teachings of Hinduism are very different from those of Christianity. Besides, how would Jews from Jerusalem have learned of a pagan faith from India?

***** Actually, there are more historical mentions of Jesus than their are of even Tiberius Caesar. Within 100 years of his death, he was written about by Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, Josephus, he was written about by the Jewish scribes in The Babylonian Talmud (a book used by Orthodox Jews almost like a second bible), he was written about in other non-messianic Jewish texts, he was written about by Lucian of Samosata (a Greek satirist). And as I pointed out before, he is nothing like Krishna.

This video is so pathetic 😂 such broad assertions and misrepresentations. I have literally no respect for atheism. Like seriously take a philosophy class or something. We utilize and interact with transcendental aspects of the universe daily. Numbers are a fine example, numbers have no basis in physical reality, yet we utilize them constantly. Mathematic principles aren't created they're discovered. Even your precious logic and reason are principals that govern the intelligibility of our universe. yet they have no basis in physical reality our reality is just a mesh of bumping particles a wave states that our senses decode into our visible light spectrum. physical matter is literally just a single snapshot frame of a continually changing Feild of energy. It's light energy condensed into a pattern, and that pattern transcends all space and time. Everything in our universe is a dance of energy mimicking the eternal forms. And the fact that we have personhood means the first cause would have eternal personhood otherwise there would be no form of personhood for our universe of dancing particles and wave states to form itself into. the face that we can have relationships with one another means the first cause would be relationship (the Trinity) otherwise there would be no form of relationship for our universe of bumping particles and wave states to form into.
    "Why doesn't God heal amputees?"
This question implies you know the history of every claimed miraculous event and every claim of God healing amputees and have proven every claim false. There are countless stories of God healing amputees but you will automatically discount them without looking into them because they go against your narrative. So it's a question with a built in assumption that assumption being there have been no reported cases ever of God healing amputees.
Almost every religion claims Jesus as one of there own. For the Muslims he's a prophet and did miracles for the Buddhist he is an avatar of the universe like Buddha and did miracles. For the Mormons Jesus was the son of God and did miracles. For the occultists Jesus was a high level occultist trained in Egypt and did miracles. Nearly everyone in the world believes Jesus lived and did miracles there is almost no disputing that. Even the historic record shows Jesus lived performed miracles, died on a cross and appeared to his followers again alive after his death. This is in the historic record. You can deny it philosophically but historically it a set in stone fact. Jesus really is the sticking point for almost everyone

strengthinweakness1 You really can justify or rationalize anything. It's almost as if this video conjured you to illustrate how apologists can deny any contradictory information to their beliefs.
For those that haven't seen strengthinweakness1 before, this person is impervious to logic or reason, and can find endless excuses why all the contradictions and lack of evidence of supernatural claims made in the Bible (all versions) don't matter.
I mean, the entire point of this video is how people make up all sorts of excuses to continue believing in their religions, and here you are claiming a false analogy and that "40 years is not long enough for legend and myth do develop". I wonder what metric you used for that claim. It's not even close to being true. 40 years is more than enough time for myths to arise, especially when you consider that the people then were highly superstitious and without access to information as we have today. Also, the stories weren't even recorded for 40 years. As was explained in the video, just telling a story about a room will screw it up royally. Try to write down something 40 years after the fact, and you'll be lucky to get a few of the names correctly.

Since we are trying to see through delusions here, I want to add in some topics/distinctions.
    1) We criticize Christians for dogmatically imposing their principles, but in doing so we are also imposing our own principles. We defend that our principles are for the good of society, and that we need to deal with the more immediate, current issues of human oppression. I like this, pragmatically speaking, but it's a personal dogma. It's just as baseless as religion. It's less obvious but still a personal fancy among many.
    2) On what basis can logic be trusted? I don't think there is an answer to this question that is satisfactory for everyone. Once a reason is given, we beg the question. Evolution has the end goal of the flourishing of a species. It does not, at least it seems to not, necessarily promote that logic/our senses tell us something true about the world. We always say that religion was a man made invention for human flourishing, so we shouldn't trust it. But then how can we trust human logic if it's goal is survival, and not clarity
    Just food for thought.

    • @dootdoot6130
      @dootdoot6130 2 года назад +1

Logic is trusted because we can make decisions using it which lead to reliable, predictable, desirable results. Games make this most clear; if in a game you consider what events may happen next, and use logic quickly & effectively enough, you will be able to make decisions that lead to victory more often than not. For a basic example, take chess: if you have two players of approximately equal skill face each other, but give one far more time to make their moves, the one who has more time to think will win far more often than not, simply on account of logic allowing them to consider & make better choices.
As for why making good decisions matters, the reality is that the world is hostile. If you make poor choices, you are significantly more likely to die than someone who makes good choices. No amount of delusion can hide the simple brute facts that 1, you need to be alive to do things, and 2, you must utilize logic if you want to have any agency in determining your fate.

Sounds like a pretty human concept. Not to mention that he wipes out an entire race of people apparently but we're just okay with that and okay with all of the horrible, detestable acts that actually take place in this 'holy book' that isn't even close to being relevant today. The reason is the constantly repeated question of religious people "what stops you from killing if you are not punished by hell for the sin". Asking someone this question means that you can not think about another reason for not killing then retaliation.
It scares the shit out of me what would happen if this guys would not fear hell anymore .

It's a slow struggle my friend, but soon they will all see the truth, just as you and so many others already do! I'm glad that that there are 4X more likes than dislikes, it means it's slowly getting through to all these fools stuck in their bubble universes! Keep up the good work and spread these messages globally! One day we will be free of the embarrassing religious scandal, and we can finally progress as a species into a new, religion-free age, and it will be bliss!

I've talked to mormons who said they believe JC walked on water, but said they did not believe Mohammed rode a flying horse

Still a gold standard 13 years later. A very effective tool for reaching out to the deluded and their geographically-assigned Santa figure..

Yeah, because it's SUPER EFFECTIVE to call people out as FOOLS and say nasty things about them for them to believe you. Gotcha.

I really don't believe that you get anyone who is deeply rooted in a belief system socially, emotionally and psychologically to even listen to you by pointing your finger and repeating over and over "You are delusional". I'm no psycho-therapist, but I doubt that that's how they get delusional people to accept that they are delusional.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I've read it's very common for people with no psychiatric history to hear voices. It's just something that most people who experience this stay quiet about. If you've got a good family I hope you stay close to them.

Problem #1 answer- God chooses to answer your prayer, it does not always happen your way
Problem #2- many soldiers do not believe in Jesus, so that's not a driving factor. Everyone who goes to war knows what they are dying for, the guy next to them and to stop the bad from reaching our shores.
