@@NintendoComplete Yes, it is crashing on mobile after maybe 15-20 seconds of opening it. It is a widespread problem today, so it might affect views/watch time stats for your video.
Thank you for this video! This was one of the most important game I played when I was a teen. It was my first RPG and I enjoyed so much the genre! After this, I was always looking for new RPGs and found just gold: Lufia, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger... Back that time, my English was so bad that I had to play with a dictionary by my side. Good times, hehe
I was pretty late to the SNES RPG train (1996 or so...) and after Chrono Trigger I became completely addicted to them. I thought they were all amazing...until this one. While not out and out horrible, it's such a huge step down from the top tier RPGs found on the system. It completely took the wind out of my sails.
That's why I don't like comparing games. Just focus on the one in front of you and whether you like it or not. Comparing everything to the best is just robbing yourself of fun imo
Eu e meu irmão costumávamos jogar esse jogo no SNES na adolescência. Descobrimos uma locadora na época que importava jogos dos EUA e chegavam várias fitas daora, assim como essa!! BONS TEMPOS :)
That sounds like good times :) could you read the English back then? I imagine an RPG could get pretty difficult if you don't understand what's being said.
When you consider some of the JRPGs that got left in Japan, while we got this one, it seems a bit wrong. I mean, Seiken Densetsu III came out in 95, and we had to wait nearly 2 decades for an official non-fan translation.
For RPGs, during the times you do grinding, I could imagine you putting in a caption "Are we having fun yet?" Still, neat work here. And very interesting find of an obscure yet fun RPG.
@@NintendoComplete Maybe give funny dialogues for the characters. Like in the well (which I'm currently at), have a caption of "Leona: Remind me to wash my clothes when we're done." Or "Cody: All these fish remind me of what I had to eat while in lion form." Kinda give it the MST3K treatment.
Vaguely remember renting this as a kid and getting stuck almost immediately. Not sure if my game was glitched but I couldn’t get into the volcano. I thought I missed something and nope. So I played something else lol. 😂 Which sucked because I liked the music and it was reminiscent of Paladin’s Quest and FF Mystic Quest which I loved. 🎉
It's not horrible, but I personally didn't like it that much... I don't recall ever finishing it myself. Still, compared to some JP exclusives it's decent. While we didn't get some interesting RPGs back in the day, we also didn't get the absolute worst games either, which is a plus.
I never played this game back in the day but found it when I was collecting in the 2000’s. It’s a decent game and Tecmo always brings the thunder with their game music. However, I think this game has one of the worst labels/box art I’ve ever seen and a lacklustre/mundane name that hindered it’s success for sure. C’mon Tecmo!
Never heard of this game before. And when I look at it, that's when it becomes clear why nobody mentions this game. An attempt was certainly made here. But the uninteresting storyline, graphics that look like an early '90s PC Engine title and terrible translation are enough reasons as to why this does not hold up as well as something like Earthbound (Which came in the same year, might I remind you). The only thing that I am enjoying here is the amazing soundtrack. It really _does_ compliment each area very well. This doesn't look *_completely_* abysmal. Just... Mildly abysmal lol.
I have beaten this game from beginning to end but this is so godamn generic i can't remember a single sh*t about it besides the fact you have 2 groups, one of the golden children and other of their squires
Ah, come on! A village of people turned into dogs and an entire segment dedicated to crossdressing before FF7 did it? 🤣 The game is pretty generic overall, but I thought that it definitely had its moments.
Secret of the Stars is one of the least loved SNES JRPGs, and it's a bit plain, sure, but it has its charms and a great soundtrack.
Great/original choice for a play through and awesome thumbnail! RUclips is crashing like mad for people today btw.
@@rjcupid Thanks! Is it really? It crashed my TV earlier, but that's pretty typical of the RUclips app lol.

(2:43:21) *_"... WHAT?"_*
*_"YOU'RE SO ANYTHING."_*
That is one of the funniest typos in an RPG that I have ever seen. 😂
Hahaha yeah I still have no idea what it means, but I love it. It sounds like something a sassy girl would say on 90s tv.

I hope you weren't one of the unfortunate souls who bought or even rented Quest 64 for the N64 lol

Admirable attempt at an RPG from Tecmo.
The party switching mechanic is a great idea, if poorly implemented.
I tried to get into this game multiple times as a kid. I remember making it past the island and to a giant, and then getting bored
I played this on an emulator way back when I was a teenager. For some reason just wanted to look it up and hear the soundtrack. Thanks for the upload!

I've so often thought of burying random comments in the caption track. I haven't, though. Yet.

@@NintendoComplete Oh, and cool that Rygar's weapon made a cameo in this RPG too!

Non pensavo che la tecmo avesse fatto un RPG molto carino aspetto la 2 parte grazie mille
Remember this but after SOM and CT, it's hard to follow

Nice of Dr. Gari to let you use his bed.
Ray learned “Coma”….everyone watch out!!
Jeep volcano will never not make me laugh.
Not as funny as "BEEGEES" (1:08:07)😂
Who would have thought someone named Badbad would turn to evil?

Definitely a cross breed with FF4 overworld and towns along side Dragon Quest battles.
I don't get the appeal or reason for 1st-person RPG battles. At least Earthbound added psychedelic effects to make it less lifeless
I never realized how reminiscent of the original Breath of Fire the soundtrack of this game is. Though it came out years after.
pretty nice
My favorite RPG of all time, followed by Chrono Cross

It’s not even bad.
This video is exactly 07 hours: 40 minutes: and 03 seconds long.
Ah. Nah I'm good
What a terrible game. There were tens of others of jrpg's that people wanted ported at the time and kept getting garbage like this.
