    Ken, just having Rick Pierce do the interview is HHHHhhhuuuuuuggggeeeeee, as a previous President use to say! You can see his passion for his product and that means a lot! I would not have thought of Bass Cat boat, but because of this interview series, I would consider it now, it means a lot.

      @@KenSmithFishing yep. I’m fascinated with how boats are built and the difference in construction from company to company. BassCat is def one of the finer builders in the business. Ballistic, Basscat are probably the only two builders that would even be in consideration for me anymore.

    Trailer fenders---if available, ONLY type I would ever have is thick polished stainless steel. I wish Bass Cat offered this as an option. Looks great, more durable.

    • @KenSmithFishing
      @KenSmithFishing  3 года назад

      Mike I know guys fall on both side of this fence. Personally I was all in on fiberglass fenders when I started this process. Then I found how much I liked stepping on the metal ones for boat access. I "think" the metal ones are probably more durable to blow outs and I also suspect less susceptible to rock chips, but the glass ones (to me) are better looking and I love how BCB has set up the fender with multiple places to step and grip tape for those spots. My Ranger fenders had a tiny spot to step on that was like a place to climb a rock wall.... I really like these fenders and I also had the guys that wrapped the boat do a clear wrap across the leading edge of the fenders which helps with the rock chipping as well.

    Ok Ken this needs to be addressed. Your not running any boat manufacturers down by telling us and them what boat has what problem. As a matter of fact your should be telling us all about the bad especially boats that us fellow fisherman are going out to buy and then spend $55,000 and find out you could have saved us from a grave error. Always your helping the manufacturers but addressing said issues. I damn well help anyone I know on faulty products.

    • @KenSmithFishing
      @KenSmithFishing  3 года назад +3

      Rick I didn't set out to "make" or "break" any boat company, I set out to find the boat that suited what I was looking for. In every video I stated everything I observed, and I alluded to things that I had heard. But I never saw any stress cracks in any of the boats I tested. Now granted the oldest boat I tested was I think 9 months old. If I had observed it I would have pointed it out and talked about it, some of the fiberglass shops talked about boats with issues, but since I didn't personally observe it I am not going to say anything negative about any of them. I just don't see it as fair to be specific with criticism that I didn't personally observe. I hope you can appreciate that.

      @@bobsmith1841 well I say this to everyone, if it is buyer beware then so be it. But I bleed red white and blue. If telling the truth stirs the crap so be it. Everyone is about being politically correct anymore. I'm buying that brand that everyone is so afraid to mention. It's called Nitro, a Z 19 Pro package and if it's junk I'll let you and Johnny Morris know, that's the truth. But I bet if I have done my research right it will last 2 yrs then I'll reevaluate the next boat I buy. Everyone makes a turd now and then, but what really counts is do the manufacturers back up there products. Not going down the politically correct path. Right is Right and wrong is wrong. If it was a fishing reel everyone would jump in. But since it's a boat and people have platforms and they don't want to burn bridges then roll that way. I have gotten more pats on the back for standing up when I was wrong and when I was right then walking the gray area's. Stand for something. I hope you all remember my name because I'm getting back into this in a big, big way. As long as nothing weird happens like lose my ability to make a living etc. 2022 look out and I should have a channel that is straight up. That's all I'm divulging for now.

    • @rickvann3489
      @rickvann3489 3 года назад

      @@bobsmith1841 well I have been building a house and own my own semi and trailers. So everything is about paid for or at least the truck and two trailers. But I did this for 6 yrs and was fortunate enough to win a couple boats and be mentored by the likes of Doug Garrett, fished with Scott Rook and had some valuable time with Larry Nixon in person and through Bass Pro videos of him Stacy King Woo Dave's and KVD who I have met with several times even did a little article in place of Steve Bowman and got to interview KVD fishing behind Doug at Old Hickory. I quote this from KVD, I asked with this 10 hole course and it being day 2 what adjustments can you make to gain ground, and KVD response was all kinds but it won't do any good fishing behind a vacuum cleaner. KVD was fishing each hole behind eventual winner Doug Garrett of Cabot,AR it was his 2nd Mega Bucks in a row win. Larry Nikon was the first to do it, and also from Arkansas. About the Nitro, I called and talked to Rick Pierce and neither he or I was in a position to help one another at this time. But had a good talk, great guy, Rick pointed out that Nitro is the current number one selling bass boat right now. Probablly because of price.. side note I hauled alot of chemicals for all the boat manufacturers in the US but Rick was never one because I hauled bulk tanker loads and Bass Cat is setup for totes. I now haul totes so maybe I'll get to deliver there one day. Anyways back to Nitro,
      1. Best bang for the buck out there, next would be Skeeter.
      2. Money and payments
      3. Not the Nitro of old
      4. I'm starting a really good you tube channel and I believe Bass Pro or more important Johnny Morris would like to be part of it.
      5. I believe in the product from 2018 forward seems like alot of positives, but until I get 6 months under my belt I won't really know. Had 3 Charger boats 2 -195 and 1- first out of the mold 296 that didn't perform. Jim Doris is a great guy just wish they make Chargers because I never liked a Champion ride compared to that 195
      6. I like boats 19' 3" to 20' 4" anything bigger is cumbersome and smaller is just smaller...😆
      7. The hole shot or jump up on pad is 2 to 2.2 seconds is very important to me and the Z 19 does this with the new NVT hull, it gets shallow from what I have been told. My buddies 521 Ranger takes a football field to get moving it seems like and about 9 seconds to get on pad.
      Bob thanks for taking time to ask questions. I get moved into my house get the internet and start buying proper camera gear etc. Hopefully January I'll be up and running on you tube. God Bless
