Thank you so much for the heads up I’m moving to Palm Springs at the end of October i’m so excited I’ve been there so many times I just fell in love with the city and the vibe and the chillness of the town. I’m ready to dive in and start living the Desert life. I know the heat is gonna be a big adjustment but I’m originally from the East Coast lived in South Florida for a long time and their summers were insane. But looking forward to this new venture

@@joechino9022 region needs better transit and metrolink. future buses will be smaller shuttles (like GM Cruise Origin) - electric, silent, comfortable and possibly driverless and more flexible timing/routing than fixed routes of today. We need these for getting to and from events, outings and errands without piling miles on our cars, depending on them when they break or when we are too drunk, ill or old to drive - or so we can be car-less.

This is all puzzling to me. We BBQ, hike and enjoy the outdoors all year and honestly, when it gets to 11pm, its rarely 106 even when its 115 in the day. I think the people who are trapped indoors are the ones who probably don't love desert life and should go elsewhere.

I know i am late to the party but I have to put in my 2 cents living here for the last 2 years. For those of you planning to move to palm springs, it can be difficult. If you are not in love with the heat, (like, love love,) it can be a burden here year round. High 90's sometimes in January, I haven't really cooled down much this year and A/C's, (plural) run all year. Coachella Valley can smell something gross from who knows what. Earthquakes and water shortages are going to be a major issue in the future but everyone here puts their head in the sand instead of dealing with it. Gardeners beware- your plants will not do great here. Sometimes even your cactus will burn in the heat. With the high taxes and so little to do and shop, just a little too pricey overall.

i agree there isn't much "to do" compared to a real, proper, walkable, park/transit oriented city like chicago/sydney/paris - just "shop and dine" like los angeles and other boring US cities. in considering relocating to PS from SF (too cold) i'm hoping i'll be able to get into heat and community aesthetics projects to keep me busy and just travel to cooler places in the summer months which i do anyway.

A LOT of the sought-after PS, vintage, architectural homes were designed as very late Fall/Winter/Spring/and weekend homes. Costing about $27,000 made that possible, even for middle-class folks. Those days are long, gone. We will have to get use to a LOT more 120 degree days, and severe water shotages, residents will somehow have to compensate. Making solar roof-panels, and drought-tolerant landscaping MANDATORY will help a LOT. The greater PS area should be 100% clean energy independent. Grass belongs, only in our community's many Marijuana dispensaries, NOT on the ground!

@@petermcdonald1744 agree completely about the energy efficiency/renewable/storage/shade mandates for PS. metrolink and cruise origin shuttles too. maybe PS could also decriminalize psychedelics and even legalize them (in office tripping first, then dosed at home by practitioner).

Yes, a strange title. I grew up in Palm Springs 70´s 80´s. In 1970 it was probably 25,000 people max. All of the Coachella Valley was open, just date palms, grapes and other produce, mostly towards Indio and southeast. In the 1980´s they began destroying the desert with country clubs and other resort living locales. The air used to be clean,
and the skies so dark at night the Milky Way was brilliant.

Thank you for watching! What brought you and your mom to PS in the summer, just out of curiosity? The weather is so gorgeous right now, you would really love it! The regulations here are quite different than Texas, that's for sure, I would read up on it a little to get a better idea. I would say they are much more strict, particularly in the LA area. And now, many restaurants are requiring proof of vax, just to eat inside. Although here, the option to eat outdoors is very intriguing. You will have to let me know if you come back, I can fill you in on some awesome things to do/see.

Hi there- thank you for watching and for your comment. I’m sorry you found it lame… also I’m not gifted at impromptu banter so I do keep notes to help me stay on task. I apologize that you found it annoying as it is meant to be somewhat silly reasons I hear people give about why they hate the desert. I for one love it- as I state in my annoying lame video. There’s no place I’d rather be. Thanks again for watching!

Ugh so negative. Palm Springs is awesome

Hi Lulubelle-thank you for leaving a comment on my video- I agree with you, Palm Springs is wonderful!. I even say that in the first 20 second of the video-it is merely a "parody" on all the reasons I hear people say they don't like Palm Springs. It's a joke. You probably did not watch the video-so I can assume your comment is based primarily on the title. I can understand why you think it's negative, but really, you and I know the reasons I list are pretty silly. I have many many other videos about how amazing the city is....

I lived in Palm Springs 2008-2013; moved there in March 2008, left in June 2013. At first, we loved it. My husband and I thought that it was going to be nirvana for a gay couple...and it was, for the first three years. But after three years, the negatives started to wear on me, and I'm not just talking about the summer heat and stench in the air from the Salton Sea. Palm Springs is a small town, packed with people who have a lot of time on their hands...time to get all up in your business and gossip. Thank goodness I left before covid hysteria turned it into a communist state. And Palm Springs also attracts what I call "desert rats", people who are on drugs and running away from someone or something.

Good for you, it IS a small town and mouths must be kept shut, esp. if you have a business. By the way, Desert Rats is also what some of us locals call ourselves without the drugs and running away from authorities. But I take your point!

Ya not everywhere at all is the lovely type of thing you picture Frank Sinatra singing happily in. The mexican parts are bad, and the heroin and meth seem to be on the outskirts of PS. Cathedral City seems real patchy.

I also notice the black people are not at all living in the mexican areas or on the outskirts in PS.
