I am addicted to watching your videos. I really appreciate the beauty of nature since all I see is concrete and asphalt everywhere in the city. I never knew it was possible to fly the way you do.
I don't think I've watched an entire 12+min fpv video before. Super nice job on this, and really nice getting up around the clouds. Must have been at least a couple scary points in that flight :)
Thanks for the kind words buddy! Ya that mountain was a little scary for video loss, I learned my lesson on the previous flight. It was a bit tense in the clouds a couple of times since they were up against the mountain so I couldn't see the ground.
Breath-taking I never get board watch Video absolutely Amazing what you do hopefully I will be posting some from the UK I am currently building my last seven inch and a ten inch I build all my own and it has taken my life over only wish I started years ago I am 60 years old now but I love what I do
Wow! I love the way you slowly work your way up, slow and low, exploring and enjoying! Is it possible to see a picture of your rig? I just got myself a bardpole antenna and I was wondering how you mount it
Thank you! I have a short look at the quad at the end of my "beakdown of a warm up flight" video. I was going to attach it just like a vtx antenna, with an sma conector mounted in the back. The store was out of sma ones so I got the ufl version and 3d printed a small sleeve instead of an sma mount hole for the back of the quad.
That is spectacular. Thank you for sharing. You ever have problems with prop icing when getting up into the cold clouds like that? I've heard of drones getting taken down by ice within a minute or two in severe cases.
No I never have had icing problems. It may look like the drone is at high elevation but I am only about 100 meters above ground while in the clouds. I think icing issues are going to be more of an issue with industrial or commercial drones that are permitted to fly at higher altitudes.
Thank you very much. I'm planning on doing a video about long range flying using 5.8g video and the antennas I use either as a stand alone video or as part of a "how to" for long range setup. It might be a month or two before I get that far along with my videos. I still have a few more long range flights to go through before starting a series of build and setup video's over the winter.
Amazing video inspire me to build 7inch, maybe midlongrange first ^^ can you share your setup, like a full photo of your quad?, im still love with analog things,
Thanks! I'm still on analog as well. There is a quick look at my quad and goggles setup at the end of my "break down of a warm up flight" video. I'll be doing a build video for a new long range quad in the next month or two.
Im using vtx rushtankultimateplus 800mw, and helical 3turn, just reach only 1.5km then must go back, ahahhha, so using 6or 7 helical its a must thing to do i guest ^^
Lots of practice. But I still screw up all the time. I lose video for a second or 2 pretty much every single flight. I've gotten used to it and manage to not panic and just follow the procedure I have figured out. Auto level and throttle first, then GPS rescue if that doesn't work.
beautiful video and love the clouds. I have a question: I'm using 2507 motors on my quad, but I can't get the tune right. Therefor I would like to get 2806.5 1300kv motors but I'm not sure about their efficiency. Looking at your flight stats, I can do more km with a 6s 3300 pack and the current draw is around 10amps climbing a mountain at a similar speed. I would really like to know the AUW of your setup with the li-ions. Would be really interesting to know
Thank you! I used to have 2508 1200 kv and I think they were more efficient than the 2806.5 1300kv motors. I lost the quad on my second flight with 7" props though so that opionin is based on only a couple of flights. But I find the bigger the stator the more amps the motor will pull. 2507 vs 2806.5 of same kv the 2507 will fly further but the 2806.5 will have a better flight feel and response. With a gopro and batteries its 1.3 kg or 1340 grams.
Hello, I love your videos and I have some questions to ask. I have been flying fpv for 2 years now (quads and wings) and I think I would like to start to do some mid-range and maybe one day long range flying like you. Even if I have a sensitive goggles receiver it unfortunately broke after use and now I don’t have diversity but just one “receiver”. Do you think it is safe to fly far away using just one antenna ? Also which patch/helical directional antenna with a “wider” beam do you recommend ? (I know that higher is the gain and straighter is the beam) Are lion batteries really good ? (I used to fly with high discharge lipo (120C) and I haven’t got any experience with lion) Thank you for sharing your amazing content !
Thanks for your comment. You should be ok with a single receiver for mid range flying if you use a good antenna like the TrueRC X2-air. Just be careful of the antenna orientation and moving your head around. Li-ion batteries are good for carrying a large capacity in a smaller package. Not that much smaller than lipo's now. The C rating for li-ion packs is more like 10 C compared to lipos at about 50 C (I know they are rated much higher but they can't really deliver what they say.) I find my 2806.5 motors don't really hurt the li-ion battereies with amps because the battery voltage sags so much that I never get over about 45 amps. On a big lipo and expensive ESC I could probably pull that many amps on a single motor. It's really all about finding the right mix of components. Despite the battery sag I do still get a top speed of over 100 kph. This setup is more about a compromise between extended range while still maintaining sufficient power for maneuvering and pulling out of cliff dives. I want to make more varied videos and include more using lipos as well but the cost of parts and batteries is too much.
Great flight. Cinematic long range is my favorite! Nice job! I just build a 7” and I really want to build some 5s li-ion packs to extend the flight time.
Hi, I'm curious why you fly long range with the Rush tank ultimate pluse? Is it because through your experience of using different vtx's you found it's best and for what reasons or is it just that it's worked out for you so far ect... I'd really appreciate your input, thanks. Keep up the amazing videos.
Thanks. I chose it because Kabab fpv recommended them, they are reasonably priced, they have a full gounded enclosure on it and it just works. For long range quads the vtx isn't that important as long as it's reliable. The antennas used make a much bigger difference.
Hello, very beautiful videos on your channel, i like this. What cell do you use to make your batteries? I think you use 6S 2P with 21700 in this video. ;)
@@FalconRadFPV I have 4S1P with VTC5A and other with the same configuration Samsung 21700 30T. The 30T has a very impressive discharge and vtc5A it’s very good cell too. I have with my business some solutions to go to the mountain and have energy for drones and for the camp for some days.
Thank you! Its just a lot of practice for keeping line of sight and taking a really good look at the mountain before flying. I used ev800d's before I got my orqa's earlier this year. My "River's edge to icy peak" video was filmed while I was using ev800d's and a home made helical antenna. I got over 5 km out to the peak of a 2300 meter tall mountain. That was pushing it though. With a $60 TureRC X2-air on the goggles you could probably get 5km with clean video. If your antennas are setup well and your sma connector is a good one and in good shape and you have any 800mw reliable vtx.
@@FalconRadFPV hey thats an idea, i could get those antenna before i go for the dji goggles, i only just got my first gopro 7 black today, its not just the line of sight but the clouds too??? i think maybe i need a number 3 quad to let me fly this kind of range, i get the horrors at about 1km hehehe.
Any size props will do but it's all about figuring out what motor size and weight of quad you want to build. An ultra light 5" can fly as long or longer than a heavy built 7" but the 7" can carry a full size gopro. If you want to do long dives and have power for wind at the peaks you may want to go on the bigger side 5.5" minimum. For general cruising in flatter terrain a smaller build would be ok and also cheaper for it's 4s 21700 li-ion pack over 2 x 6s li-ion packs for a heavy 7".
Awesome flight! Do you think i can do flights like this with the 7 inch iFlight Chimera 7 with the 1800kv Motors? Or is the Motor kv there too inefficient?
Thank you! You probably could. At 1800kv, I think running on 4s would give you descent efficiency. There is also the batteries to figure out. I use 2 at once to get that much capacity. I'm not sure if the chimera accommodates fitting an additional battery underneath? or maybe it will fit like a 6000mah 4s on top? You'll have to decide on lipo's or li-ion, the battery setup would be different for each. with li-ion you would have to use a 4s2p setup. Then you need to make sure that your video is going to make it that far. So you'll need high quality antennas on your quad and goggles like the ones from TrueRC or Video Arial Systems.
hey, amazing vid! would you mind making a video of the making of your custom built 7 turn directional antennas? or if not making a video refer to one which is built like yours? greetings from germany :)
I might do a video about it over the winter but I haven't decided on that one yet. I got the instructions from thingyverse along with the 3d print for the shell or base of the antenna. I think rcmodel reviews has also done a video about how to make one.
Thank you. The home arrow will change every time the quad turns so that it always points towards home. I only move my head from one side to the other if I fly from one side of a mountain to the other. At 2 or 3 km away even a directional antenna covers a very wide area.
@@FalconRadFPV That makes sense. Thanks bro! I’m just now getting into bigger quads and I’ve never sent one that far out, so trying to get as much info as possible before. Your videos have been very helpful. Keep it up!
Excellent ascent! Amazingly clear video feed among the clouds. You almost hit that bush! What ReelSteady level do you use? When I do loops it always crops way in for it & it's not clean like yours.
Oh I hit the bush. It pulled my quad off course and I had to correct and get back to the left to miss the next trees. For ReelSteady I always unlink the two sliders. I put smoothness all the way down to the left and leave cropping speed in the middle. I think it turns out with less stretching in 4k 4:3. It records in 4096 x 3072 and then reelsteady crops it to a standard 4k res of 3840 x 2160. I've been using 2.7k so I can ghet 60 fps so it works better for adjusting the speed. But I might try 4k 4:3 30 fps this weekend.
I would love to give them a try but they came out just after I bought my Orqa goggles. The cost is holding me back from getting a second set of goggles.
No, there isn't even a road close to that spot on the other side of the river. It would be 2 or 3 days hiking and searching. And would require mountain climbing skills and equipment. If I crash, it's gone.
@@FalconRadFPV I’m assuming you never found it!? I’ll check out the video! I’ve been interested in making some too! I’m gonna make your helical antenna first!🥰
I believe it's to do with the transmitter / betaflight setup. I'm pretty sure Joshua Bardwell has a video about how to do it properly. I was in a rush and just thought I'd try turning it on and see if it worked. I didn't set it up properly though.
about $1500 but you can't just buy the same stuff and fly it. It takes practice and people often crash and damage drones when first learning. I started off flying freestyle for a few years before testing my luck like this at long range fpv.
I might try selling some pre-built quads in the future but I'm not doing it at the moment. I've been thinking about it though. Check back with me in a month or two if you want.

Hey beautiful flight :)
How much amps could your pack provide at max?
With two 6s 2600 mah packs connected in parallel I've pulled over 70 amps for a few seconds.
Well done! 👍
Thank you! 👍
Are you conformal costed? Those cloudsssssss
Oh ya 2 or 3 times coated by now. I get waterfall spray on the quad every now and again. And have been caught in a light rain a couple of times.
Amazing flight! question: Are you moving your body/head to hold LOS? The home arrow is all over the place so im just curious:)
Keep it up!
Thanks for the prompt reply, betaflight which version? Do you use gps with compass, which one? Greetings from Chile
I've been using 4.1 but will be changing to 4.2 very soon. Brain fpv gps is what I used most of last year, no compass.
hola! awesome vids man! what "lq 0" means? i have 2:100 on my osd
It wasn't setup correctly.
Very impressive! Exactly what Li-Ions are you using?
Thank you! Molicel p26a
Thats crazy dude im just getting into long range got my crossfire all set up flew 800 meters and said nope no more 🤣🤣🤣
Ya, you gotta work up to it and build trust in your quads reliability. No way I'm hiking for a day or two 4km up a mountain to get it back!
Beautiful! And these rocks 👌
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Loved it.
Thank you!
epic as always
Thank you!
@@FalconRadFPV upper slider all left, lower one all right, on my end. slowest push/pull effect imo so far
nice video bro...what fpv camara do you use??
Thanks, In the description.
That was a very nice flight and i enjoyed it to the end wondering how cold it was that day?
Thank you very much! It was a little above the freezing point, about 3 Celsius. Probably about -8 to -10 at the peak though.
Do you concider switching to DJI FPV system?
I would love to give them a try but they came out just after I bought my Orqa goggles. The cost is holding me back from getting a second set of goggles.
Круто, какой взлетный вес? У меня такие же моторы стоят.
1330 grams, with 2 x 2600mah 6s batteries and a full size gopro.
@@FalconRadFPV 👍✊
If it failsafe will you try to get it back
No, there isn't even a road close to that spot on the other side of the river. It would be 2 or 3 days hiking and searching. And would require mountain climbing skills and equipment. If I crash, it's gone.
Are you making your own Li ion packs?
I’m working on a 6” LR BangGod build currently!
Yes I am, I did a video about it. Sweet a 6" bangod. I loved my 6" long range until I lost it.
@@FalconRadFPV I’m assuming you never found it!? I’ll check out the video! I’ve been interested in making some too! I’m gonna make your helical antenna first!🥰
My lq is always flashing zero just like yours is it a certain beta flight version?
I believe it's to do with the transmitter / betaflight setup. I'm pretty sure Joshua Bardwell has a video about how to do it properly. I was in a rush and just thought I'd try turning it on and see if it worked. I didn't set it up properly though.
Hi, can you tell me aprox cost for Gear like this? All googles, drone, battery, remote, gopro etc..?
about $1500 but you can't just buy the same stuff and fly it. It takes practice and people often crash and damage drones when first learning. I started off flying freestyle for a few years before testing my luck like this at long range fpv.
@@FalconRadFPV Thanks a lot, i start learning now but on drone for $100 from ali. :)
How does you GoPro record continuously for 12-15 minutes mine starts a new video every 4gb which is about a 5 minute video for me?
I stich them together in premiere pro. After using reelsteadygo I have to sometimes zoom and pan a little to get the videos to line up.
@@FalconRadFPV thank you, also one more quick question, do you use bi blade or tri blade props and why? Thanks
@@zachspiker8475 I use tri-blade props. It's what I'm used to and I get plenty of range with them.
What tilt angle are you running?
About 25 degrees.
Craaaaaaazyyyyyy😱🤩
Thanks!👍
Can I buy one of your set ups ?
I might try selling some pre-built quads in the future but I'm not doing it at the moment. I've been thinking about it though. Check back with me in a month or two if you want.
I would definitely be interested In one of your aircrafts . Shoot me an email , i have a business proposition you’d might be interested in . Growingstatewarriors@gmail.com .
Your balls must be made of some kind of alien material ;o) Sick flight!!
Thanks!
hello can i use 21700 50E samsung , i make 4s2p on my quad 7inch
thanks....
only if your quad is very amp efficient, yes. 50E only handle 20 amps where as molicel p42a can handle 45 amps at only 800 mah less capacity.
@@FalconRadFPV i use 2306 1750kv with prop hq 7 inch 3 blade. maybe if i use maks throttle 50% can i fly with safe ?
i plan in 40% throttle thanks for advice
What is ur frame weight?
The frame I'm using here is my V1. I only have one of them so I can't weight the frame seperatly, but I think just the carbon was 150g.
Hey man my lq does the same thing, how did you fix it?
I just turned it off again. I don't really need it as there is very little interference way out in the mountains. Joshua Bardwell has a video about getting it setup, I think using telemetry instead of an aux channel.
@@FalconRadFPV ok ill check it out thanks bro
low bat warning ....
you could change the config.
Yes that's right. I like it to come on early though. It takes a long time to fly back!
it's a shame YT is lowering bitrate so you can't see details.
Ya it never looks as good as the original on my computer. It's better than it was a couple of years ago though.
3:25 omg 😱
Oh the video loss? Ya again at 10:45. It happens to me quite often because of covering such a distance and trying to get down low. It gets easier as you get used to it.
