Toronto is so f***ing loud I don't know how people stand living here. The city noise levels are so under estimated, the city/gov needs to do something about it.
I live in the city, and I rarely hear "honking horns". That just sounds like a cheap shot at the freedom truckers. However, the screaming police sirens are constant, and very annoying. Especially when they're on a "doughnut emergency"......Big turbo-diesel trucks make the most noise, summer and winter, along with the loud freezer trucks/trailers. Sound reducing technologies for these heavy vehicles would be the logical first step. It would have to be cost-effective, and not affect the fuel mileage, because then these costs would be passed on to the consumer. There are bright engineers who need to work some of their magic to help with this. Some of these trucks pulling away from a stop are louder than a jet at takeoff.
Lol not cheap shot but honest for sure and anyone should of been able to understand that what they were doing was causing stress on the people living and working wherever they decided to protest . Also , 100% agree on the engineering part and the trucks that sound like fighter jets …. I have been tempted many times to leave a thousand post it notes all over one of them at the same time right here at my apartment, it’s not enjoyable At any point listening to him drive away for 30 seconds solid
@@embersascendancy8682 We live right next to a 7-11. And their deliveries take place around 1am. Glad I am retired, and I feel sorry for those in my building who are not. The truck engine on high idle, combined with the freezer roar for an hour while the guy brings the stuff into the store, and then sits in the cab and fills out paperwork, is enough to drive anyone crazy, let alone get any sleep.

I'm woken constantly by police, fire, ems sirens. Can people please behave themselves in public, at home, on the road? The ridiculous car exhausts out there are just icing on the cake. People red-lining their bike engines waiting for lights to change at 3 am... How stupid everything and everyone is now.
There should be noise traps in the city just like speed traps. If your vehicle is above X decibel then you get a ticket. This will encourage people to be more considerate when accelerating. Besides, a vehicle(even a motorbike) that you hear from 3-4 blocks away is just too loud. This should be regulated just like speed.
Did the women complaining about the noise because her condo is next to a major highway not realize where the building was before she bought it? This is rediculous! Wear ear protection if it bothers you.
Crazy how commentators here seem to believe it is just normal to have that much noise in cities. There are tons of solutions that can and should be implemented. Cities never experienced this level of noise before the mid 20th century and the domination of motorized traffic.
Not really it's actually the opposite I find in regards to road noise. I moved from Southern Ontario to the Prairies and everybody here has a giant lifted truck that tends to be obnoxiously loud(and the people driving them tend to be morons flooring the f out of them). Also plenty of big barking dogs here that do this all day. There seems to be more Harley style motorbikes for some reason. It's less busy but not quieter I find overall. probably the other way around.
And in the countryside it's not quieter. People over there tend to have snowmobiles and ATVs that are even louder. I had a neighbor who actually built an ATV track in his backyard ...
Hahaha, I can't help but laugh. I live in Toronto, in a condo, overlooking a busy intersection. I hear noise as well. I live with it. A few things I've taken away from this news clip are; ▪︎The condos along the highway were built there with the highway pre-existing. Hate to say it, but they chose to live there. Those are condos, not low income housing. They had a choice. ▪︎They make it seem like the majority of the city is plagued by the noise pollution. I wonder, have they seen the map of the city lately. And are we talking about the entire GTA or are they just focused on selective areas? ▪︎I don't see this as a cheap shot towards the protests, but I find it ironic that now we are talking about noise pollution. You'd think that living right by the Capital of Canada, you'd be exposed to noise regularly. It once was a popular attraction. Now it's a wasteland, but they can sleep at night. Wait till our Capital is booming with tourists again. ▪︎Toronto is a busy city. The GTA is constantly in motion. Top to bottom, left to right. As locals, we all know this. ▪︎Interesting topic, but what can be done? Call me crazy, I'm guessing no one will talk about the quality of construction these days. Are they using inferior products? Are there better materials out there? Like I've said, I go through it. I for one know that my condo was built fast and cheap. It is what it is. The 3 things you'll never be able to have together. GOOD, FAST, CHEAP. You can have 2 of the 3, but never all 3. One will always be sacrificed.
Correct. As a co owner of a construction business which builds large scale projects I can say this is true. We build good and fast but we are not cheap. Cutting corners always effects speed or quality.
