I can see I'm 8 years too late to the party. But, I'd still like to comment, anyway. Because of you guys at Rapido Trains, Inc, I've fallen in love with RDCs. I recently purchased my first and only HO scale RDC, and I plan to buy more...with some help from eBay. I appreciate you guys because of your penchant for accuracy. I'm a stickler for "accurate" small (HO) scale train models. I enjoyed watching this video. 👍
I used to ride RDC on the Maryland commuter rail (MARC system) between Baltimore and Union Station in Washington, DC. It took a long time for the train to get up to speed. There was no frills. The train crews were contract CSX. Their uniforms still had the the B&O Railroad buttons on then. The equipment was eventually retired and replaced with typical commuter rail equipment.
I didn't know a thing about these. When Budd and GM got together to build one I didn't know how it turned out. The video gives me some info that I didn't have before. I am a big GM fan and had just recently dug up some trivia online.
You gotta love a guy with this much enthusiasm for what he loves. Can't wait to get a couple of these going around my layout, going to retire my mediocre Proto RDCs
Thanks for the information about the RDC. I have a request from your Company. I know the extensive line of your products are in HO gage. The O gage users have no RDC product to purchase. Have you considered going into the O gage field specifically the RDC product. I realize the additional cost involved but why not survey the model train industry and see if a market might exist for an O gage RDC. Jim Hatboro, PA
The cars were rebuilt into Club Galleys by CN in 1971-1972... with primarily purple seats. Some seats were red. VIA did a cosmetic rebuild in the 1980s and replaced the purple leatherette with dark brown and the purple upholstery with light brown.
Excellent video. Please consider an n scale version. the SP would be awsome. I know Kato Amat made these in n, but your attention to detail is over the top!
Any chance for a copy of the LRC? It was the train that brought us to Canada. After working on the APT-E (I've got 2 of those ordered) we moved to Montreal and my Father worked at MLW on the LRC. By the time I knew about it the reserve date had passed. If it's not possible then no hard feelings.
Chris Tarrant recently rode in a Budd diesel railcar in his UK Channel 5 series. Not sure if it will be available in Canada or the US but worth looking out for. www.channel5.com/shows/chris-tarrant-extreme-railway-journeys/episodes/canada
Apparently the downside of this lower cost train was the flimsy design of the ends (consisting of thin stainless steel and a frame) providing little to no protection for the engineer in case of impact. www.trainsarefun.com/lirrphotos/LIRR%20Engineer%20Patrick%20Molese%20-%20Vignette.htm

I remember when I was younger I rode on them. They were
Boston and Maine.
B&M had a load of RDCs!
B&M had the largest RDC fleet,104.
It's so great to see that VIA LRC back in operating condition

Awesome!
Beautiful video of the RDC.
I was watching TRIPPING train 185 on TVO and I wanted to know how the two engines propel the train.
The diesel motors on the RDC's are directly geared to each truck by way of a cardan driveshaft
The rdc is one of my favorite trains.
Awesome!
@@rapidotrains but my favorite train is still the ge silverliner IV E.M.U.

Very informative video! In Oregon, we're lucky to have 2 in service on the WES commuter rail. I've seen them before, but never ridden them.
Trains N' Stuff...... Unfortunately though... those two in Oregon were repowered with 4 strokes. : (
I used to take the Dayliner between Havelock and Toronto , I loved it
It was sad to see that one go.

Neat to know where the sound for my Rapido C&O RDC came from. Thanks!
We go all out!
scale trains might be catching up to you .. but you have my modelers heart.. what depth on video.
Had these Bud Cars in Sault Ste Marie ON that ran to Sudbury ontario. Good memories, I lived on the tracks and saw them daily.
👍

"And THRA kindly provided us with a switching engine!"
No biggie, just an LRC switching Budd cars.
Convienent eh? 😁
@@rapidotrains if 6917 could talk, it would be saying, "how has it come to this?"
My cousin worked for the Budd Co. in Philadelphia, as did his dad. I'm sure one of them had a hand in the building of them.
How cool is that? They most likely did!
I would really like an RDC in N Scale, the Kato ones never made it into Via Rail or the handsome CN red and grey or the CP red
We'll consider it!
Bombardier was bringing out RDC versions of these made in Canada and probably more efficient
Interesting!
I would love to purchase one of your Budds and help your restoration process, but I don't see any available for sale on your website.
I rode on a VIA Rail Blue & Yellow Club Car before they were retired in the mid 90's. The interior colour scheme definitely was not purple.

The DD 110 engine when idling sounds a bit like the DD 8V71 series engines. The 8V71 was used in motor coaches like MCI's and Prevost's
Nice! Its too bad the fp9's got sold to pan am in trade for the gp35 and gp38.

I'm an N scale modeler and a big fan of RDC's. Are there any plans to produce your RDC models in N scale someday?
It's quite possible. But it can't hurt to hit up our product suggestion form and have your voice heard!
@@rapidotrains will do, thanks!
I want a Via! Also I want that Via scarf. silly I know bit its that time of year and im sure they are hard to come by
that creekside shot'd have looked modelled were it not for water rushing in the foreground..clever 1!
The line between model and prototype can sometimes blur!
It’s The Canadian version of the British class 153.
Hey, you guys rock. What else can you say to a guy wearing an APT-E shirt. (Yes, I am British)
When will we see the restored "Edmundston" sleeper car? When will restoration be completed for this car?
Can we buy tickets to ride the Edmundston?
I would like a model of one that ran on Vancouver Island
👍

+Andrew Jackson We have some LRCs in stock. Give Thomas a call at the office.
will do, many thanks my friend.
Thanks mate.

I would get a Dominion Atlantic RDC with the tuscan red name board
These have been released already. Please contact Canadian model train stores and ask around.
will the VIA RDC's be recorded from a VIA RDC??
Good job ilike this video👍🚆🎥😀!!!
Rapidotrains are you going to make a North Conway livery
Bostonian Railfan a select amount for CSRX.
El RDC 3 BUDD, que aparece con el numero 952 perteneció a los ferrocarriles Occidentales de Cuba.
How about an nscale version???? Pleasssssseeeee!!! Haha
Too bad, Court is retired now. 😕
Andrew Wilson still goes to Railfans Day.

6917 switching. Nice.
not the job I had in mind for it
not to mention the fact that 6917 needs a bit of love in the paint department
none the less nice to see it's being put to use
Who walks an instrument on the tripod like that? Use the case!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way...way...way too many selfies.
It's what the kids are doing!
