Excited for arena cube and getting videos of you drafting it! For some personal input on this draft, you were offered the perfect combination of Rankle into Morbid Opportunist with your Urabrask's Forge for Rakdos sac and you took an Ophiomancer that you might even have wheeled instead, big sad. There was Junji, Sheoldred, Aristocrat, Judith, and even gutter bones late in pack 2 as well, Rakdos midrange sac was actually wide open and would have been insane. Imo in this arena cube if you go Rakdos it has to be midrange sacrifice or you can't really justify being in those colors, unless you are splashing it in Grixis control. For that reason I would also have avoided taking Languish pack 4, I think Languish in the cube is generally a bait because heavy black just doesn't play control very well, I have found black to be generally a midrange threat and removal strategy due to the amount of game ending effects in the cube that are not tied to small creatures. I value a card like Extinction Event much higher since you can splash it in ramp and control decks much easier, and even in midrange decks it can be a selective removal instead of killing all of your own creatures as well. I think the signals were pointing very clearly to Rakdos midrange this draft in both pack 1 and 2, and you would have made an absolutey insane deck if you moved into it.
For a bit of side tangent rant, I think passing Sheoldred for the Karn was a huge mistake, even disregarding what the context of your deck was. I think Karn is quite a weak card in the arena cube, since imo in this cube cards either need to have extremely powerful and cost efficient effects or be able to disrupt the opponent to be good, and Karn is neither of those things. Since there's no real artifact synergy archtype in this cube, Karn is just a really slow and relatively low quality card advantage engine that's usually a worse Sorin the Mirthless, which I'm also low on. Usually if these cards are generating you value without being attacked down you have already won the game anyways, and they do very little to help you deal with opponent threats or play from behind.
Sorry if I came across like I'm trying to tell you what to do, just wanted to share my thoughts on this particular draft, would love to hear your thoughts on the points I mentioned. Cheers.
I don't get the Arena people who complain that MTGO content is hard to follow but then expect people to know what Alchemy cards with essay-length text boxes do. I'm down to watch any content and I'd rather Nummy draft what he wants (no one wants to go back to the nightmare that was the streak of ONE videos), so I just find it odd to complain about what client he's playing on.
The difference is with Arena you can easily look up the card text if you want and there are a lot of visual clues to help you figure it out. But with MTGO, it’s really hard to just follow what is happening each turn even if you know what the cards do. I would venture to guess most new subscribers play Arena vs. MTGO so that makes it harder as well.
Totally agree he should draft what he wants, though. I just understand the difficulty with watching MTGO.
The thing with MTGO is if you've never played with it (or watched much content on it), it's so hard to follow. It's not only the cards, it's all the interface stuff. It's much harder to keep track of the stack, or what mana is tapped for what color and for what spell, or in which phase Numot is right now, and much more.
Yes, the cards being different and the text being so small is annoying, but it's definitely not the only thing.
Man I tried a few drafts today and I have to say Cube feels like the hardest Arena draft format. Just so many possible combinations to keep in mind, and decision making is not as straight as in a format limited to 1 Set.
My win rate went significantly down ^^ But I am gonna continue my education here with my new favorite draft RUclipsr : )

I totally agree. Cube is really cool but it's difficult to get a cohesive deck together most of the time.
Sometimes though, like today, I P1P1 Thalia and didn't look back. Mono white is ridiculous when it comes together in this iteration.

So, I agree the first 3 games were all bad luck of some kind. But game 4 felt like the OP just played tight and you didn’t draw great. They of course got lucky to “draw” your forge, did prove what you said about it being strong against control( you being case in point)

It didn't technically matter since you needed the blocker game one. But you could have field of ruined their black source which would let you also get a swamp.
its interesting that you didnt pick the henge. im not a very experienced limited player and i wouldve definitely talked myself into taking the henge at that point. but youre right of course, taking the dual land was way smarter considering the deck. i need to remember to not get "wowed" by strong cards, that barely fit the deck, late in the draft.
As you said it is a very bad pick at that point in time. he doesnt have that many creatures and great henge wants you to play quite a few and he was not in green. By the time in pack 3 u try to pivot it tends to end in a disaster
3:32 its crazy how much being draft only player makes you blind to some alchemy cards. You absolutely should picked agent of raffine. 1 mana 1/2 that draws you a card every turn is insane.
Warzone duplicator is kinda nuts too. Bounce a creature, "draw a card"
