    Input from both of you is very helpful. Well done review touching on most of the things anyone is going to care about without saying too much. I watched many reviews on this pistol and after watching this one will commit to purchasing one. Thank you.

    Been eyeing an ep9 for probably a year. Every time I go to buy it, I think “man, I could save a little more and get a banshee”. Problem is, every time I go to buy a banshee, if I can find one, the price tag hits me in the face & I start leaning back to the ep9. Not comparing the two as equals or even on the same spectrum. Just sharing one man’s internal struggle.

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews

      They are hand down a great firearm. I have shot a CMMG and I like them don't get me wrong but for this price you can't pass up the EP9.

      My experience with the gen 1 EP9 has been so satisfying that I've never felt any need at all to try a Banshee! And even if you did try one and liked it better, the Extar would be very easy to sell, as they're really in high demand.

  • @augustdrums1247
    @augustdrums1247 2 года назад +2

    Is the higher grain better for home defense? Seems like it would be. I'm glad you ran that because I should have mine weapon next week and I like to run the higher grain.

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews
      @FamilyFirearmReviews  2 года назад

      The advantage of a lighter grain bullets is speed. They also fly straighter in short range shooting. They have less stability When shooting at greater distances because of wind. They also have less expansion and penetration when hitting the target. This is due to less time in the barrel when fired.
      Heavier grain bullets will have increased penetration and more stability over greater distances. Wind will not affect them as much as lighter bullets. This equals more stopping power.
      I would grab a few different bullet weights and ammos and run them through your firearm. This will help you select the right ammo for you and your firearm. I am always trying different ammos with 3 shot test. Take 3 shots with each ammo and see how you accuracy is. I do carry 124gr in my concealed carry.

    Good Review ....I have own my Gen 1 coming up on 2 years and have put close to 700-800 rounds mainly 115-124 grain and have not had any problems with it at all. I still think I should buy a compensator from Kav valley, just haven't done it yet.

      With the 9mm we do not. We put them at an angel so they go off into the woods or back stop. I have been hit by a 5.7x28 so we put them out further with that now.

    The best accessory for the the Extar is Nightstrike Diamondback AFG. Seeking makes the best MLOK quick attach pic rails too.

    Thanks for the video.
    Is the muzzle device just a standard linear compensator? That's what I would like to put on a firearm like this. Is the barrel length 6.5" not including the muzzle device? I'd like to have the velocity of a barrel that is at least that long.
    The lack of adjustability of the brace is frustrating. I'd want to be able to make adjustments. I'd want to be able to make the brace very small and compact when necessary. Can the brace be removed entirely?

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews
      @FamilyFirearmReviews  2 года назад +1

      Yes it is just a Compensator. The barrel length on the Extar is 6.5 and the comp adds an additional 2 inches. I know the way the buffer tube is set up it is hard to change out the brace. The spring assembly is in the buffer tube so you can not remove it entirely. It is still a pretty fun firearm for the price.

    It's NOT a Pistol Caliber Carbine, it's a pistol. Extar doesn't sell a PCC. That thing on the end is NOT a stock to put on your shoulder and it should not be evaluated as such. It's a pistol brace. The EP9 is a pistol and is designed to be fired with one hand.
    I hate to be so negative when you did such an otherwise great review. My concern is that the ATF will watch this and use FB reviews to outlaw this fantastic firearm. You are not the problem my friend, it's the ATF I worry about. I put nothing past them.

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews
      @FamilyFirearmReviews  2 года назад +2

      Totally understand where you are coming from. I referred to it as a brace the rest of the time and I know better. It was a slip up.
      I do use this in my IDPA shoots and it gets lumped in the the PPC's in that shoot so that just got stuck with me. It is a pistol with a brace and registered as such.
      We will do better in the future in our reviews.

      @voiceofreason9238 2 года назад

      @@FamilyFirearmReviews Thanks for not calling me an anal retentive jerk. If you had I would have agreed with you.
      As you know the ATF has already arbitrarily changed the definitions of our Extars with the braces and is trying to turn all of us law abiding citizens into felons by bureaucratic decree. This is not the America I know and love. I couldn't be more fearful of what our government might do next. I don't trust them.
      To the 99.9% of us who saw your review, we know exactly what you mean. To the ATF it might be taken to further erode our 2A rights.
