I just love how you capture such beautiful subtle miniature moments in your vlogs. Just so aesthetically joyous to watch. I’ve still not read Real Estate because I don’t want that trilogy to end.
Simon, I felt the same about Real Estate. I loved it so much I bought the trilogy and decided to read them each year. I’m not at all a rereader but the books are that good! I think you will love it.
Looks like a lovely trip. I adored Real Estate too. I love that scene towards the end of the book where she crashes a literary party and has an unsavoury encounter with “a male writer of some note, but not in my own hierarchy of note”. It's delectable how she puts him in his place.
Thank you for documenting our trip. Now I can go back anytime and relive those precious days! LOVED Real Estate, as you mentioned. Perfect book for me at the perfect time. How is your home, home, when you lost those who lived in and made it the home you loved being in... so deeply meaningful at this particular time...Started August Blue but couldn't get into it as easily as I did Real Estate...but now you make me want to pick it up again! Beautiful vlog, Ben. Bravo!
I just finished Real Estate and also LOVED it, definitely my favorite of the three. Levy’s observations mixed with her quirk were also exactly what I needed at this moment. I wish I could sit with her under a banana tree and listen to her musings while eating guava ice cream.
oh I absolutely understand what you're saying in terms of writing, especially thinking about what you do being seen/read. it's such a performer thing. not only do I not want to do something badly, but I also don't want to create something "for myself" -- I want an audience. the work/the practice is solo, but i don't to write for myself. gorgeous vlog, as always 🖤
the scenery!!! this was such a beautiful vlog. i need to get onto some Levy but have never known where to start! but with what you've said, will probably start with her nonfiction! eep! can't wait to hear your thoughts on the ABC Diaries! just got my arc too and stoked to read it!
I also journal a lot. Or take notes everywhere. But it actually never occurred to me to compare that to the writing of the books I like. It was so interesting to hear you saying that, because for me these are two completely different things. Both things include words, that's all, but so does speaking. Maybe you should try to see it more like having a conversation with yourself, than as writing? Don't now if any of this helps.

Oh I love that you’re trying writing…for you. I’m a journaler first thing in the am…just my thoughts.
Loved this, I’m currently reading The Cost of Living, so much resonates with me I’ve highlighted half the text!

So many gorgeous yummy shots! I can’t think of anyone who does it better 💕
