Good Evening! I have really enjoyed this build series. Love the way you go about the process.....You say "This is what i am gonna do, this is why i am doing that, and then you show how you are doing things. plus, you are brutally honest! Love it!
Hi Nigel, I've been following your Sea King build with interest and I'm responding to your plea for the correct colour of the part below the rotor head. I worked on Sea Kings from 1974 to 2018. the colours are all BS3181C spec in the main but for the part you need, which is the top part of the main gearbox, that is RAF Blue Grey. The rotor head, tail rotor hub, main, tail and intermediate gearboxes are all in this colour and it is semi gloss. There are quite a few more anomolies, as you have pointed out, but I would be happy to help with any of those too. While I think of it, the interior colour is Dark Admiralty Grey.
Great video my friend the sea king looks stunning the weathering is done just right really like the effect of the thinned deck tan really pleased the masking worked out well was worth all the hard work I’ve enjoyed every minute of this build look forward to seeing your next build thanks for sharing 😊😊
My word, Nigel, that exhaust soot pattern certainly looked overdone, so I'm glad you mentioned how much the camera was exaggerating the effect. The completed build looks really good - nicely done! Stay safe and well.
Hi Nigel, great video enjoyed the ones i did watch, helicopter not my thing, just wanted to mention your colour scheme of choice is in the back of the latest IPMS magazine if you want to compare your model to the real thing, always enjoy your tips and hacks for doing things will come in handy when i start my stash of kits.
the orange crop boxes were fitted during the falklands and were a pita to fit,but the "gubbins" that they were designed for were never fitted, consequently the boxes had a light brown rubbery patch on the front, the two forward ones on the nose had "no stand" on the top,but we always stood on them as they were perfect fer cleaning the cockpit windows,we used swarfega as it stripped the dried oil off the screen a treat!
Enjoyed the build series Nigel. Turned out very nice. Looking forward to your next build from which I certainly will learn new things on how to do stuff. Cheers!
Nigel, Thank you for another GREAT build video series. It is truly a beautiful build. I will be building this kit along with you after I work my way, with the help of your videos, through the Austin K2/Y build. Thanks much
Beautiful model Nigel. Looks amazing. I’m a bit unsure about the soot myself but you had the balls to spray it on so fair play, I think I would have bottled it if I had gone to all that work incase I messed it up 🤣 anyway great job, that would have been my colour choice too 👍
Beautiful Job Nigel - A very interesting color-scheme. I MISS my helicopters days - first jumps from a Huey, then some Sea King, and a long career in the Seahawk - even got 8 hours in the CalFire Firehawk this summer. Too danged old to jump as a swimmer / SAR crewman any longer .
Well done - looks fantastic - thanks for taking the time to put together such a detailed build - and not lose your mojo and get it finished. Next build? Cry Havoc! And let slip the dogs of war…..
Hi Nigel, the Sea King looks absolutely outstanding, the weathering was just right, congratulations on a job well done, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
That was an eye opening video Nigel. I learned so many different methods that you use to build this one model! Amazing! This build came out very nice. Glad you got it finished. Maybe one day I'll try to build a helicopter. Take care!!
Lovely job Nigel brilliant work and tips as always, the thinned deck tan is a great idea may give it a go myself. Just go with how you feel for the next build, whatever your choice is good enjoy all you do. All the best 👍
Really enjoyed this build series of the Sea King, Nigel. The end model looks absolutely stunning, and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm desperately waiting for the RAF SAR version to come out then I would find it hard not to go straight online and pick one of these up now! I hope you are happy with what you have achieved? As for what should come next, it has to be the A-20!
Hi Nigel. Cracking looking chopper there mate. But, I think you have forgotten something. That open door with the steps on it. Shouldn't there be a couple of poles sticking out of it with some cord attached to hold the door when its open? In the pictures of it built on the Airfix web site. It shows cables and 2 poles sticking out of the door. Other than that, it looks brilliant. However, I am going to wait until they release an RAF version.
@@NigelsModellingBench Then isn't it funny that the pictures on the Airfix web site show the door cord and poles, but its not in the instructions? That's weird.
Hi Nigel, just started this kit, what colour did you use for the interior bulkhead? I must have missed when you said and now I can’t find it, cracking job BTW
@@NigelsModellingBench Hi Nigel! I posted that just before you mentioned the colour question under the blade hub, which is what I meant!!sorry for any confusion!😊!

Already made buddy, in two parts.

Museum quality build. I think you also had fun doing it.
I’ve just sprayed deck tan on my KY/2 after following your build videos. Takes the brightness from the decals.
Sorry it’s a K2/Y. Just found the box

They have been added Andy, not called for in the instructions. this was an OOB build.

Very nicely done! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series. Now, if I could just figure out where you got those clamps from….
Sehr schön geworden dein Modell vom Sea King. Echt bewundernswert, mit was für einer Präzision du arbeitest 👍🏻🏆.
