Thank you, you’re right I couldn’t find anything on pruning a rose on an obelisk either. Your video is really helpful! 😊

If you have all the branches going up the roses will tend to rise up, so you won’t get a full obelisk. Try to bend em slightly like wrapping em around the obelisk then you’ll get spurs off the main branch and more roses.
Good luck I find roses easy to grow .. water, feed with a granular feed when the leaves break out and after the fist flush.. but I supplement with a liquid feed a couple of times also. And obviously spray maybe once a month for pests and black spot etc.

I've been looking for a video for pruning a new climbing rose - so glad I found you. Am in the UK and a novice gardener. I only started my rose collection last year and it gives me anxiety to see how bare the roses look once they've been pruned 🤣 I'm going to have to bite the bullet and prune my Gertrude Jekyll climbers. Thank you for a great video 👍

My first David Austin Rose will be at my house soon! I’m so excited! Thank you for sharing how you prune, not as intimidating as I thought. Can’t wait to see them bloom 🥰

Good video. Lady of Shalott is an own root rose, meaning it’s not grafted and doesn’t produce suckers from a different rootstock. I wouldn’t worry about it even though you pruned them off though. Roses are tough plants. It will bounce back big time.

Great video! On small comment: Lady of Shalott has a bushy habit, it is not a climber ;) But it still should do well on an obelisk, I love this variety!

Hi there!!! Yes! There is a LoS shrub rose and also David Austin sells a climbing variety. It’s a low climber but they train it to walls and everything! Up to 8’! I agree wither way it will look fine on the obelisk! 😂

My understanding is that how you prune a lady of shallot will determine whether it is a climber or a shrub. It is up to the gardener!
