  • HUGE THANKS to all the great critiques in the recent videos it's helping me a ton! I've been playing nearly every day for the past 3 weeks and honestly all of the recommendations are paying off!
    This match wasn't anything special but decided to post to show some progression:
    Andrew = Blue Todd = Red Final Score: 6-2 6-0
    In this match I was using the new serve but was more focused on my ground strokes, energy, and pace. The new serve is feeling much more natural but I will give it another week or so before adding more mechanics to it. I worked with a speed radar and my first serves are up to 99mph and my second serves are averaging 87mph with lots of depth.
    Some critiques I've been focusing on:
    -Trying to hit ground strokes with more purpose
    -Trying to keep feet more active in between shots
    -Pushing body weight through shots more
    -Engaging legs more, bending my knees especially on backhand
    Instagram: @AndrewKristensen
    I recorded this in 2.7k using this camera:
    GoPro Hero 5: amzn.to/2stZiOK
    To clamp the camera to the fence or fence windscreen I use these:
    Clamp Mount: amzn.to/2uOK87b
    Clamp Mount #2: amzn.to/2sucfbb
    For matches over 1 hour your going to want an extra battery:
    amzn.to/2su0jX4
    For my Racquet I am using:
    amzn.to/2sQL9un
    I am stringing at 50 pounds and using this string:
    amzn.to/2uuzMdt

    You've probably got the most complete game I've seen in amateur tennis. Super consistent, not always blindly blasting the ball, smart placement, and smooth strokes off both ends.

    • @sean9267
      @sean9267 7 лет назад +3

      A complete game would mean a good transition game and volleys whereas he doesn't look very comfortable approaching or volleying. Serve looks kinda weak for 5.0. Bet he's a pain in the ass to play since he's athletic and consistent.

  • @footiefan16
    @footiefan16 7 лет назад +12

    Nice vid. Serve progress looking good! Other guy hits a solid ball and seems to have a very good serve. But there's a huge gap in movement and consistency, and you're playing within yourself while he's close to maxing out. A bit too much air under the volley at 0:46, sometimes its better to hit a firm angle, droppers can be run down (especially by guys like you :)

    • @iRacer3
      @iRacer3  7 лет назад

      for sure I agree 100% the firm angle will be my go to from now on instead of the cut shot

    Andrew, in your backhand, you could keep your eyes on the point of contact an extra one or two seconds, this will help you make the full strokes. I am observing that you are moving before finishing the movement, with that you lose depth and power. Note the Djokovic in the backhand he seems to be looking into the void after the blow, but he is transferring all movement to the ball.

    • @iRacer3

      It is somewhat the old style to set the racket low on both sides. Now everyone sets high and hits high to low to high. Then his timing is somewhat off on the backhand side because he seems to not want to really hit a backhand.

    Is this the formula for beating you?
    1. High loopy, heavy ball to the backhand
    2. Put the shortball into a corner with 70% pace
    3. Come to net and hit the volley or overhead for the winner

      @maccajoe Yea i agree, most of his rivals, dont have nough power behind their shots, either landing short or are lobby shots in both cases he uses really well the angles to finish you off. If you dont press with really heavy ball deep or flat he will murder you.

  • @artax3434
    @artax3434 6 лет назад

    I really like your groundies and footwork. I feel the biggest problem on your serve is lifting both arms as a V unit (as opposed to a smoother motion where you'd lift the left arm first with the ball toss, create momentum, then get busy with the right arm).

  • @AntonioMac3301
    @AntonioMac3301 7 лет назад +1

    The backhand slice looking better! A tip to help I think is at 1:51, some of your weight is on your back foot and you are moving sideways. It seems like to you are trying to get back to the middle while swinging, which is okay, but I think you should put more weight on your front foot and stepping inwards. This will help add some penetration because your body weight will be coming into the shot.
    The slice at 2:24 is nice!

    So can you add all those bits you were focusing on to a 5.0 opponent? Sure they will challenge you more (run you, push you back, hit harder), but you can be more active, bend more, lean in. And maybe the stamina won't last playing as long at the higher level, but you'll be playing,that higher level and "within yourself" not having to think about creating results just playing solid and finishing points as they present themselves. (i know after a tough match when I'm playing well, win or lose, my mind is drained and the next day(or two!) the body tells me that I was working my legs more than i realized.
    When are you going to practice the 3:40 racquet kick? He may be 4.5 but he can do the racquet kick flip like a 5.5!

    • @satjiwan
      @satjiwan 7 лет назад +1

      iRacer3 good luck. I need some more above level practice matches so I don't just play neutral and defense when i have a more meaningful match against tough opponents. (ps college often means impatient, so smart grinding can earn points but that might not be how you want to,play.)

    Opponent has no weapons. Doesn't take advantage of short balls to put them away and hits too many easy short balls, often to the middle of the court. It might work against a tentative player who isn't very consistent, but that won't cut it at all against a fast player who hits everything back and can hit winners when they're available.
