Welding is a great skill to have. It's so cool to see you use it frequently to fix your stuff. I appreciate this type of build, where someone actually fixes something instead of just buying all new parts, because to me, that really requires skill. Anyone can swap parts, but you FIX things. Great job. BTW, I am a proud owner of qty2 - 3dmachines beanies!
I really like the project but not the stress man, we're here to watch you work on this thing. Let it be 10 parts if it needs it! Like and follow for sure!
I was about to say change the diff fluid but you talked about it at the end great video as always can’t wait for the next one I want to see this beast ride
I rely like this style of video please continue you are on to something good here. (watching from Cape Town South Africa) thumbs up from me and a good way to do a come back MR 3D!!!!
My 84 atv had the same problem with the battery, I had to using metal roofing strapping to fix it because I couldn’t weld at the time. It is crazy how many parts were shared from this 3 wheeler and the 1984 4moto 200cc atv
Dalton, you might not have known this but you really should not put your hands in the ultrasonic cleaner while it is on. The ultrasonic waves can burst your cells causing blood vessel and joint damage. I have an ultrasonic cleaner myself and it cleans parts up spick and span. I'm really liking the content, getting to see you fix every component. Keep it up man!
Permatex paint stripper is amazing. I have an 86 Honda 350 and it was painted camo when I got it but I wanted it back Honda red. That stuff took the paint off like nothing and didn’t hurt the plastics at all. The stuff is kinda hard to find but some Napa stores carry it or can order it. It’s well worth what it cost
Really enjoying these. You should weld a thin piece of metal on the tire side of the battery so it won’t rub when the tire is squishing due to jumping or Incase of puncture
I would also relocate the battery for sure. And I would get the smallest one possible. It just needs to be able to run the starter for 30 sec. I bet a 4ah would be fine, and it is small enough you could relocate it somewhere better. I can't imagine what yamaha was thinking when they designed it that way!
I've heard that a 50/50 mix of acetone and atf makes a really good penetrating/releasing fluid. Also, heavy varnish on brass carb parts can be removed really quickly with cellulose thinners. Acetone would probably work here too.
I had a 1980 YT125 and I was slowing trying to make it nice even though it was a complete money pit.. Sold it this summer to a girl and she fully restored it. Also Dalton idk if you're much of a facebook user but there is a group for these Yamaha's that can get you any oem/nos parts you need that aren't available brand new.
If you'll turn the rear wheel around (put the valve stems inside) the rear will have a wider spacing for battery clearance. They were designed this way.
You can also use Marvel Mystery Oil or mix it with ATF and Diesel. That stuff has broke loose great number of things for me. Also the other headlight bracket is still connected to the plastic if you wanted to zap that back on her.
Great video! There is somewhere around 60,000 people looking up to you on this video alone. I would have killed for resources like this video when I was a kid. You should be wearing safety glasses especially when using the cut off wheel. For real, you can set a great example for a lot of impressionable minds.
You should probley service the air filter and box,and the drive shaft!! Will need grease for sure, was probably in water at some point, I know mine was
Should do a couple more vids and clean the bike really well hit frame with acetone and touch it up with black then take a steel wire wheel for grinder and hit the exhaust and battery box and then paint them to keep them from rotting and you'll have yourself a very nice looking mint piece of history haha
Watching from Newfoundland Canada we would love to see a tool box tour notice your using some mastercraft screwdrivers where did you get those too thought they where only sold at Canadian Tire love the videos
Two items about the battery: 1) A couple of model years before or after this one, the battery was mounted high up in the space between the taillight and the rear of the air filter box. Might be worth a try here. 2) You mentioned something about a strap to hold the battery in place. The bracket you have essentially supports the rear, bottom and left end of the battery. The front, top and right end were supported by another piece of formed steel, not a flexible strap. This support had a tab that slid into the rectangular hole just below the hook on your bracket, the hook that looks like it should have the D-ring of a strap in it. This support was then held in place with a fourth bolt that went through a hole in the support and was then screwed into the threaded hole visible on your bracket to the right, or rear, end of the battery. Look here: www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/1985-yamaha-tri-moto-225dx-ytm225dxn/o/m146955#sch224650
I thought that as well, but the wiring diagram for this machine shows only a single conductor coming from the negative battery terminal. The ring terminal could, however, be the remains of a "bonding" conductor between the battery box and the chassis frame, designed to provide a path around the painted surfaces brought together by mounting bolts. Best practise is not to trust threads and scratched-off paint to provide ground paths. Especially on new assemblies. Did the ring terminal have teeth?
To make carbs like this easier use Yamaha combustion chamber cleaner, eats the varnish right off! Use gloves and a mask as it starts to burn pretty quick
just buy smaller container or strainer grate which has a good metallic surface because in those that do not have a shiny surface ultrasonic gonna corrode the metal of that and only use metals what ultrasonic page have
A lot of the off-road vehicles do it this way. My Polaris Predator, the old Yamaha Twolf, actually, most utility ATVs I can think of are mounted this way.

Is it Christmas already? 2 videos in a row? Its a froggy fresh Christmas.
Like these vids. Brings it back to how you started
rubber inter tube for battery hold down from a bike.
2 uploads in 2 days loving the work and the videos keep up the work dolto
Always wanted to see ya work on 3 wheelers again nice vid
Keep up the uploads! This is the shit us machine freaks signed up for wayyy in the beginning. Much love!!
Really liking the 3 wheeler content.
I really like the project but not the stress man, we're here to watch you work on this thing. Let it be 10 parts if it needs it! Like and follow for sure!
You should put some wheel spacers on the back to give that battery more clearance
Luke Benko I have a 225dx and I can’t find spacers for these things anywhere I wanted to do the same
I like these types of videos! Maybe do a part on how to properly tune and check every part of a carburetor!
my neighbor sold me a ytm 200 similar to this one and these videos have been helping me so much to understand engines Thankyou man
Hell yeah another upload. Been watching for couple years now glad your back on the grind man you one of my favourite channels to watch
3d machines! Upload.. yea the shottz coming back. Always look forward to the vids.. let the haters drink there haterade. Keep doing what ya do.
Damn man, seems like the only thing that WASN'T loose on that bike was the CARB LOL.
Yeah!!! 3Dmachines is back! Nice work!👌
Change RUclips's name to "3D Mechanic" 🤙🤙🤙
I was about to say change the diff fluid but you talked about it at the end great video as always can’t wait for the next one I want to see this beast ride

Left road kill for this 🔥
👌👌👌
Strange Builds Inc what up brothea!
LOL. Why you wear headphones when you're working on your bikes?
So he can listen to music without getting hit by copyright issues.
Love these types of vids. Keep them coming

Pine-sol and water 50/50 and that carb will literally look brand new, best thing I’ve ever used on grease or even rust on cast iron
Tip bro!!! next time you want to remove something and it is stuck, then you can use brake fluid, because it is strong and quite good on rust
Really enjoying this simple raw footage it’s simplistic entertaining and fun!
I’ve been watching for so long I’m so happy you got another 3 wheeler you only had a few vids of the old one Honda
Really enjoying these. You should weld a thin piece of metal on the tire side of the battery so it won’t rub when the tire is squishing due to jumping or Incase of puncture
make sure on reassembly, on the fuel screw for the Carby, you need to put an oring after the washer. Screw, Spring, Washer, Oring
Personally I'd move the battery tray to were the engine is
I would also relocate the battery for sure. And I would get the smallest one possible. It just needs to be able to run the starter for 30 sec. No room
ctvxl There is not any better places for it. I have this same tri that I bought new in 84-85. Lift fender for easy access.
Really enjoy this style of video... Working on and how to stuff..
I've heard that a 50/50 mix of acetone and atf makes a really good penetrating/releasing fluid. Also, heavy varnish on brass carb parts can be removed really quickly with cellulose thinners. Acetone would probably work here too.
I’ve always just used zip ties as battery tie downs. Yeah it’s not the correct thing to use but works pretty well
Am I the only loving these new videos?
Giant hose clamp to secure the battery!
Yesssss more long videos
Project videos are the best thanks for vid
A mix of diesel and ATF should help with unsticking that carb
these 3 wheeler videos are so good!
I like this video Dalton. Back to the roots
My favorite old Yamaha trike the 225dx. New sub here. Looking forward to seeing you get that old beast 💪 running
If you'll turn the rear wheel around (put the valve stems inside) the rear will have a wider spacing for battery clearance. They were designed this way.

Loving the series. Looks like lots of room between the wheels behind the seat, maybe a good spot to move the battery cabinet?
Love the videos!! Keep it up! Really enjoy them and very helpful!
Great video! There is somewhere around 60,000 people looking up to you on this video alone. I would have killed for resources like this video when I was a kid. You should be wearing safety glasses especially when using the cut off wheel. For real, you can set a great example for a lot of impressionable minds.
Just bought a three wheeler good video
Also maybe try some nail polish remover or some MAF sensor cleaner on that blue paint.
You should probley service the air filter and box,and the drive shaft!! Will need grease for sure, was probably in water at some point, I know mine was
For the battery box I would use a bungy , or make a battery hols down piece that bolts across
It's not yours until you put the 3D decals on it
Get spacers to make sure the tire doesn’t rub on the battery anymore and it’ll look cool
Should do a couple more vids and clean the bike really well hit frame with acetone and touch it up with black then take a steel wire wheel for grinder and hit the exhaust and battery box and then paint them to keep them from rotting and you'll have yourself a very nice looking mint piece of history haha
Yeah! Love these videos
Watching from Newfoundland Canada we would love to see a tool box tour notice your using some mastercraft screwdrivers where did you get those too thought they where only sold at Canadian Tire love the videos
Are there tires buckshot muds
Is there a way to bypass the cdi box can't find 1988 cdi box anywhere
I wanna see the 3rd part ASAP
What kind of cleaner do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner? Thanks in advance for your reply
I’m loving these vids
I’m still working on my electrical. Haven’t got spark yet

Nice project 👍
More three wheeler builds
Man I like watching your content
zip ties works great for battery hold down
Which ultrasonic cleaner is that one?
The ground that would be on the fixing for the batter box would go from the battery direct to earth the frame
Hell ya bro keep two days in a row
Pine sol! Best carb cleaner and cheap, works within minutes
To make carbs like this easier use Yamaha combustion chamber cleaner, eats the varnish right off! Use gloves and a mask as it starts to burn pretty quick
Add wheel spacers to the back
Bring back some of the the old style white 3dmachines stickers.
Just use a large adjustable metal hose clamp for the battery.
You should move the battery tray I think when you put weight on it the tire will hit
I was thinking of that too, must have been the flat tire that hit the tray to begin with. Might happen again
Just take the battery holder off its weight reduction you can use the pull cord. But great video
just buy smaller container or strainer grate which has a good metallic surface because in those that do not have a shiny surface ultrasonic gonna corrode the metal of that and only use metals what ultrasonic page have
At 27:35 one tire looks bigger than the other
Guess I will re sub bc you got some vintage with just the right amount of wheels...lol
Don't buy his merchandise. It's a scam
/// Jason Statham /// he likes the bills, that explains this comment
Front shock tube caps are missing
Between the painted plastics and the screwdrivered ignition id say it was hot at one point of its life....
Hey dalton that head light is a special bulb
The three wheelers missing the top motor mount and has a bolt broke off in it he said if we seen anything in the video let you know lol
What happened to the shop
Looks like a head light off a Yamaha it dirt bike
Bungee cord it I did that to one of mine works great
3D, best way to free up things is TO SOAK IN ATF, works everytime
Should do orange to Mach Cush
Good work Man U definitely have to have patience with the old girl lol
You’re not supposed to put floats in an ultrasonic cleaner, they can crack or explode
for battery use a lawn mower plastic battery box cut and flip upside down
I like the vids and all but how come you don’t vlog anymore?
Really strange method to mount the headlight on the plastic and then the plastic to the bike, cant find a good reason to do that..
A lot of the off-road vehicles do it this way. My Polaris Predator, the old Yamaha Twolf, actually, most utility ATVs I can think of are mounted this way.
Put wheel spacers on it
USE BRAKE CLEANER ON THE CARB GOOF.
I had a 250 Yamaha three Willow the rear and went out
Omg yours is pull start to
