Was idling around 15-1800 rpm at times and overheated VERY fast when it jumped. Shop wanted $250-300 to fix. Checked my tps as the video instructed and was at 1.2v. Had to drill my tps slightly and am now at around 9.6v and wow what a difference! Idling at 8-900rpm and I have a noticeable increase in power and no more issues! THANK YOU!! BEST CHANNEL EVER!
Awesome vids...made my pony run better...it had a flat spot on take off and throughout the RPM range...this got me in the right direction. Thanks again!!
Love your vids. Very helpful! Could you make a video to help with temp gauge not registering. I dont want to overheat but I got no reading I got an 87 LX. THX keep up the great work!
@@derrickconnerproductions6007 you get the reading and set it before you start it. once its were it needs to be, then you unhook the negative cable for 20mins before starting
when you actually start the car what is the voltage supposed to be at because mine starts at 0.98 with the car set to the on position but off and when I start the engine it reads at 1.08
This information is not quite correct. You need to obtain your earth signal directly from the black wire on the TPS otherwise you will end up with a signal variance of up to 0.15mv. That make a lot of difference if you are trying to set to 0.97-0.98 for maximum performance as you could easily end up over 1.0v.
have a question...what for are the water hoses connectet to the EGR Valve spacer?? heating up incoming Air or what..I live in Costa Rica..lowest temp 25 celsius...to keep air cool wouldnt it be better to disconnect the waterhoses..or what is this heating for..??
Sometimes on startup my 89 GT surges at idle very dramatically and eventually smooths out and runs fine. When I hit the gas it somewhat evens out. Wondering whether to go more in the direction of IAC or TPS, or both...voltage and rpm surge up and down when this happens. Thoughts?
I have a 97 mustang v6 and the check engine light is giving me a p1443 code to replace the canister purge valve, do you have or can you make a video showing where that part is located in the car so I can replace it in mine
What brand of a dvom are you using? Could I pick one up at my local Autozone? Oreily's ? Many thanks for your time. What voltage would you reccommend that you set the dvom at? Thanks again.
Hello Question why is my TPS reading 4.95 switch on or off from green wire and ground from intake manifold And it reads 0.0 from green wire and black wire from TPS plug Using a multimeter DCV Please advise Thanks
Need some help i have a 1988 mustang gt it was riding rough backfiring no power ext so i bought new distributor spark plugs wires still was riding rough so i bought a new fuel filter and it felt good for a day now i have throttle body getting stuck and its still back firing and help?
I have a 01 Mustang 3.8, I've replaced the TPS and the car got worse, I put back in place the original TPS and the car when back to the previous condition, any advice for installation for this type of sensor for 01's Mustangs?? Thanks !!
Same issue. 1998 3.8 Stang. I replaced the TPS without knowledge of adjustment. Now I have a P1120 code. I'm going to re-adjust the TPS with a meter. I will give the results. Great video
Typically, no. Have you checked the voltage of the TPS? Does it change whenever you move the throttle blade? Is the car getting fuel and spark? -Landan
@latemodelrestoration yes even with a new TPS I'm only getting about .34 volts. So I've replaced my fuel pump relay. I have plenty of fuel pressure. I have spark, I changed the TFI to be safe. Fuel/EEC relay both click with ignition in the on postion. I have power in all my fusible links, ground cables are clean, one thing I do notice is with the key on, my fuel pump constantly runs. I hear fuel pressure throughout the fuel rails. If I unplug the TPS my car won't even crank. When plugged in it just cranks but no start. Not sure what else to check.
@@mosesandres3385 No, the fuel pump should not constantly run with just the key on and the engine off. The acceptable TPS range is .5v - 1.25v with the key on/engine off. .99v has always been the "go-to" for folks. It's just easier to remember I guess. There is a really good write-up on one of the forums covering Fox Body no-start conditions. I suggest reading through that. -Landan stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/cranks-ok-but-no-start-checklist-for-fuel-injected-mustangs.787471/
Hey there, we have only tested this on Ford Mustangs and Lightnings. When it comes to the Escort, we recommend checking some forums for more details and info.
Why can’t i get a read on the volts? They have a read when the sensor is off, but when i slide the clothes pin down the green wire i can’t get anything?

I thought you check the "Green" wire for the voltage, not the "red" wire. I always used the "green"....
