Thank you Simon for this wonderful walkthrough of Wisdom of the Shadow! Your brilliant walkthrough of these cards made my heart sing. These cards are so potent and raw because Jenny Hahn, the artist, used the process of painting these cards to work through a painful part of her own journey. My wife, Vernetta, is using these cards in her counseling work, and as an addictions counselor she has found these cards to be a powerful tool. And I have to mention Jessica Ricchetti, her knowledge of working with Shadow and her ability to write and speak about it come from her own deep well of experience as an Energy Alchemist and Priestess. So, this does look like a lovely deck. I love the colours & the keywords & I love the backs. Ok, there’s nothing I don’t like lol ! So glad you got it for review. 🙏🏼😍💜
That's a tough and wonderful deck. I really, really like some of the imagery. For example "Grief" ... not just crying a river, but a frozen one ... is so powerful. "Opening" ... can be seen as two or three figures ... and I like that. "Connection" ... soul mate, twin flame, a soul friend, anim-us/-a/-um, the double (see Ed Sellner's book of the same name) ... - the cards allow for all of that. I really appreciated, that you stepped into the ambiguities of the cards, Simon. In my opinion this is a strength of the deck. And only by realising the ambiguous, a clarity in a foundational sense can be found. What I also like is the diversity in the human shapes ... that's a good way to delve into human issues and not getting too entangled in the (important but still more superficial) gender/sex troubles. I just miss two of my favourite colours a bit: violet and green. ... this deck might be a good companion deck for (the yet to be bought) Animal Woman Tarot. It may also work well with other decks I own. (For example: With the Ritual Abuse Tarot ... there can be gained insight about what emotions created the ghosts in the walls/The skeletons in the closet, ... in the first place.)

I backed it up on Kickstarter and have used it several times since .. Just beautiful and images are intutive . I use oracles and tarot in my coaching practice and this card is just perfect for that . The cards are spot on and as deep as we choose to go . LOL my sister who doesn't care much for oracle cards is eyeing my copy. The guidebook is a treat with extra information if needed but i found the cards speak for itself ! The edging is gorgeous but unfortunately it already chipped however I'd still recommend it in a heartbeat. Just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hello my friend. That post card looks lovely, it is as though all the passion, talents and energy of that person are breaking free, after being locked inside for far too long. I do like that guide book. I like the concept behind this deck and as I watch and comment, I hope that the cards meet my expectations. lol. Sorry, I am commenting as I watch the video. Yes, I agree, it is like entering the centre of yourself, reaching into your soul. Hmmm.... Now.... what a shame, I loved the art, I loved the idea, I agree that we are adults and deal with swear words, I use them myself, but are they really necessary in a deck? I feel that they take away from the beauty, and purpose of the deck in order to 'make a point' rather than serve a purpose. I would have pounced on this deck but the expletives have put me off. Albeit we are all adults, not everybody likes or appreciates them being shoved into their faces like that. Ah what a shame, I feel that they have spoilt what could have been a perfect deck for shadow work.
Oh what a shame! I really don’t mind them at all, I think with them spewing out like that it’s an outward expression of frustration, hurt, defensiveness etc. Maybe they are there to challenge us too, as to why we may react the way we do to them?
@Six of Wands Yes, trimming is a good idea, I could also decorate each expletive too. That is actually something to think about as I actually like the deck but not the swearing.
@@the_hermits_cave Yes possibly, I think it probably stems from how we are taught from childhood. I personally, do have a habit of swearing at times, but seeing them like that on a deck was disappointing for me. I do like the idea of decorating them and/or trimming them.
Hello Elaine! I completely hear you on this. The artist and I went back and forth (many times actually) on whether or not to include the expletives... Because we knew they wouldn't be for everyone. Ultimately, we decided to keep both of them in there (just the two in the images and none in the book). We felt that to honor the spirit of Shadow Work... It felt aligned to leave things in that could potentially stir up some inner discomfort... Since that is indeed something that we can turn into medicine and explore the shadowy aspect of that within ourselves. And... These paintings were created from the artist's raw heart for her own personal healing journey, long before the deck was even a thought seed. So this was her truest inner expression, and we felt that editing it just for the deck wouldn't have been true to the Shadow. And... I share all of that simply to let you know what was on our heart... Not to convince you of anything. :) Deep blessings. Thanks for reading this.

I believe you do have a point as to why it affects us, and this would be something to address in shadow work. I cannot pretend that I do not curse, because I would only be lying to myself, however on the deck, it threw me. I have no idea why, as there have been times that I could scream and curse from the roof tops. We are complex creatures us humans. Thank you once again for responding to my comment. 🙏

The box, is an old box I have had for years. The incense is Morning Starr and the scent it Cedarwood 🙏🏼❤️

And yet the creators don't ship outside the US and I haven't found any UK resellers so the search for a shadow work deck continues 😩
