It was a big hit all over Europe in 2010. Ranked no.1 in Germany (listed in the top 100 single charts for 59 weeks), Austria, Switzerland (76 weeks in the top 100) Denmark, France, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium (his homecountry)and a few more.

I've seen a bunch of comments on the music being repetitive, I think it was actually on purpose. It's not just the genre, which is repetitive, but it also goes with the meaning if the song, the repetitiveness of live, of repeating the same things everyday and letting loose dancing and singing because it breaks the pattern, but it also becomes a pattern in itself

his artist name is a verlan of the word maestro. his real name is paul van haver and together with his wife he runs a fashion lable called mosaert. this influence is clearly visible in his current look, i would say.

That was so return to my study time. It was a good, hard, and fun time. And even I remember some of the lyrics.
    Great reaction, as always. ❤

he's belgian, not french, not dutch ^^
Stromae is lyricist, composer, musician, producer, and rap artist. One of the best artist of these 10 last years in Europe, who suffered from a serious burn-out after his big success.
He's a fine lyricist, and a performer (for example in "Formidable").

Heard this a million times. It still appears on the radio regularly. It became so mainstream, I couldn't care less, which is unfortunate, because it's actually not a bad song. And I liked the lyrics...

this reminds me somehow of the streets, blinded by the lights. it's completely different of course, maybe the way it is filmed.

Half of Belgium speaks Dutch (The north) and half of Belgium speaks French.

You heard this everywhere it's dance scene standard and it's in tv commercials

    • @sagebooker
      @sagebooker 2 месяца назад +1

it was very successful of course but not standard, because Stromae is a real composer with specific intention, and as the music is joyfull the lyrics are very peculiar and important in each of his songs

    Hello !
I know you already reacted to 3 stromae's songs, but you missed the best ! :(
it's called "formidable", and the clip is filmed in the street with real people.

all you are saying is what I felt when I was a kid and I do still feel sometimes, the only one thing that made me got out of that wild dance of the survival was God... nothing more made me feel that I had a real purpose.... sorry if my english it's funny, i'm latin...

Not for me, but I can see the appeal. I'm not big on "dance" music, and I think it's because to me, it's just toned down Techno music. So if I ever wanted to listen to this type of music, I would just listen to Techno,it's faster and goes so much harder than just dance music. Plus, it's to "Pop" for me.

I think I would have liked this song better with different music. I liked what he was saying, but I got bored by the music half way through.

That's like saying to Beethoven: I like it more when you play Fur Elise on the Guitar.
