This premium seems to be more as a reaction to the earlier complaints that China didn't have a good top tier lineup as a whole. Before you get the Type 99s this is a good way to build that fast, afterwards though it's an expensive backup tank, with how likely you'll need it being down to skill and luck.

The FY-4 ERA blocks 140mm kinetic on the hull. The 50mm FY-4 you showed is weaker and is only on the side on the turret.
Can't wait to get this later down the line. Had a blast with this tank in armored warfare, and can't wait for this in WT
Yeah, there’s a certain tank quite prevalent on the battlefield right now that turns this tank’s armor to butter with its APFSDS, the T-72M2, believe it or not but I regularly fight China when using that tank and it’s TAPNA round just butters straight through the front of the Type 96A P

I honestly love it. I prefer it so much more than the turms, and I feel I do better in it than my t72 1989 tbh

Of all the Russian and Russian based tanks in the game, the Chinese Type 96's and Type 99's are probably the best of them.
This tank in particular definitely has better armor than other 9.7's, the turret cheeks will eat basically everything fired at it, and the upper glacis with the ERA bounces quite a few shots as well

It’s a worse TURMS in every way, but it is just barely worse. Meaning it’s a very good tank.
Stronger UFP than the turms but weaker turret. The shell also has slightly more pen but worse thermal.
It’s a pretty solid tank, and a much better premium overall than the T-69 II G.
It's a decent vehicle even tho the tech tree variant is quite better.

I'd prefer the TURMS over the ZTZ. The only issue the T-72 has is it's teams which often consist of only this particular vehicle type and many players do not have any back up.

its a great little t72 fun and the IRCM at 9.7 is at least somewhat effective unlike the t90s

Also imo 8.3 br is more enjoyable to play because there are way less people who quit after 1 death compared to 9.7 br.
And you'll grind to a full 8.3 lineup way faster than to a full 9.7 lineup.
Added to that is the WMA's above average (forward) mobility that basicly guarantees you a capture point when there is a one near spawn early game, while in the Ztz a bunch of XM-1's already captured it before you even get there.

For a long time Chinese mains only had the T-69 as their only choice for a premium vehicle and that's absolute garbage so now that they have this I would strongly consider it. Also, it's fair to assume that China may get the ZTZ99A next patch which if I'm not mistaken is a big improvement from the previous ZTZ tanks.
TBF to the Type 69 IIG, it’s main perks are that it gets to be part of China’s excellent 8.7 lineup, also it avoids the nightmare 10.0 uptiers, especially now with the T-72M2 event going onz
@@PraetorianMan I still would avoid the T-69, it's not worth the money and while it doesn't get uptiered to 10.0 is still can get to 9.7 where it is at a complete disadvantage.
ZTZ-99A wasnt in the dataminer leak list, only the ZTZ-88B and two other vehicles, so dont hold your breath over it ...
@@i_nameless_i-jgsdf I don't hold my breath for it. lol I just made that assumption based on the fact China gets the 96 Prototype. Remember when Russia got the Turms and even the T90A?

9.7 is a good line up but the lack of any decent CAS make it not rewarding once you did good and have plenty of respawn points to spend
i really like my chinese MBTs.. but what i hate the most is there god awfull optics.. its so trash.. great round armor thermals, but wanna zoom ? forget it.
they removed the previous chinese comunity manager that rigged information and implemented many nerfs to the chinese tech tree. We can hope that the new one will fix shit up since yes some of the tanks have bad optics but most of the top tier ztzs do not
IRL ZTZ99A, ZTZ99's all have variable zoom thermal optics (6X - 12X if I remember correctly), and a backup sight with fixed 8X. The previous consultant gave them all 8X scope, and he even gave ZTZ96 a 6X scope, which Gaijin refused and buffed to 8X. Thankfully he was fired!
@@murci981 the ZTZ99II has like no zoom. its a set 8x... nothing more.. dno about III dont have that yet.

@@boomcat1337 It is indeed the reason. The consultant refused to submit data for domestic helis, and threatened to withhold Chinese helis completely if he gets fired. Fortunately he still got fired.
challi 2 is a brick both irl and in game, but it's a formidable and incredibly agile brick. at least irl
EDIT: cause i forgot to mention, stop playing soviet and russian pattern vehicles like NATO vehicles, it will never work, NATO lords OVER cover and hills PACT lords AROUND cover and hills. try the proper methods for the vehicles and you will get better results. but i do agree, regardless of doctrine, the more angles of engagement and flexibility to do that the better.

And as always the optics zoom is wrong as is the case with almost all Chinese tanks. It should have the 5.4x-11x zoom because it shares the same optics with all modern ZTZ tanks. For some reason Gaijin refuses to implement the reported values.

better than the turms in any way:
-armor (except turret face)
-reverse speed by a SLIGHT but somewhat significant difference
-most of all, this does not plague the battlefield unlike the TURMS aka brainlet's tank
Only one disadvantage and its the terrible optics.
The fact that Turms has Commander thermals and 12x magnification optics make it a far better vehicle for the current meta. Also the ZTZ's large lower plate compromises its very effective upper frontal plate by a lot, raising the question if the vehicle has an armor advantage after all.

@@sheevpalpatine7588 That may be true but the FY4 ERA only sits in a small row on the upper frontal plate, can be shot past if the enemy aims a little and your juicy lower plate does not have any ERA to protect it. While Kontakt-1 on turms covers the entire frontal arc and makes you more survivable against ATGMS.
