The shot at 5:11 is defenitetly the outdoor lot at the old Granada Studios, it's just where the public entrance to the tour was, behind the main building.
If memory serves me correctly from what I've read LWT and TVS binned it off to even crappier slots sooner than later. I think it got one repeat run on Sky Soap in the late 90s, amazed it got that frankly.
Yeah, LWT always saw the weekends as their turf, so they were nonplussed at Granada's insistence that it went out on Friday and Saturday evenings. It got to the point where LWT, and other regions dropped the Friday episode in favour of two episodes on Sunday afternoon, much to Granada's anger.
I've just seen in an old theatre program that Con O'Neill was in an episode of this. Who knows where, since IMDb hardly has credits for anyone & there seem to be only Ep 1 & Ep 100 online. Very amused to hear from everyone that it was crap!
I was trying to think where I'd seen this guy @4:51 before...I remember now....he played a villain who stole Grandad's canary in an episode of "BREAD" !
Love the hammy melodrama in the Aussie soap "Return to Eden" with hilariously cliched dialogue and performances to match, and then we get the dull, dreary failure that was "Albion Market" in pale colours, a final episode that virtually no one bothered about as it ended the misery of both the sparse viewers that were watching and the bored, disinterested actors who clearly wanted to be somewhere else.
I Cant thank you enough for uploading this.. NOBODY, NOBODY , NOBODY Remembers this .. . i KNEW.. BLOODY KNEW!! This excisted!! I think I must have been 7 or 8 at the time and i swear it was on for such a short time, that BLOODY NOBODY Saw it AND we lived in London alot of the 80's.. could it be that it was NEVER on Thames TV AND/ONLY on Granada?? and maybe I saw an advert for it when I was in the north somewhere?? Think my family n my friends think i must have dreamed or imagined this... Because No-one I know remembered this I might as well.. Thank god for you tube and you! By the way it's beyond terrible lol.
Love the Action for Jobs advert at the end. Talk about rubbing salt into the wounds for those actors who found themselves out of work after that show finished shooting. Ouch!!!
this was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. i did keep me watching. i remember finding the girl that gets wed in this strangely attractive. good theme tune too
Think she was a bad 'un though, I wonder if she and Keith are still wed now? Well I suppose we shall never know! The theme tune was released and featured in Towerbell Records "TV Hits" album, available now on vinyl from good charity shops.
+James Falcon seem to recall the same, that poor child! Of course nowadays they have to use at least two babies so that the demands of filming can be shared between the two
Jesus Christ that OTT acting in the trailer for Return to Eden made me lol. All of those glossy 80's mini series were dreadful. Apart from "V" that is.
I Googled "V" a bit ago cos I remember it vaguely as a kid and it said it was one of the worst flops in history. Which would explain why we've never heard about it since.
There was a great cast in this :) I was just badly executed and badly written when they retooled the Show that's what It should have been from the start .
The girl who was at the start of Albion Market became WPC Brind in The Bill a few years later.
Kelly Lawrence.
@Snarzell 1975 Here's hoping Oliver Crocker finds her and she's happy to do an episode of The Bill Podcast.
Canny fit as well lol
Great thanks for sharing I'd forgotten all about Albion market , I miss Taff Acre .

Yes agreed, having been on site last year it was clear to see that this area had changed very little in thirty years!
I remember this used to be shown on Friday nights, just before "KNIGHTRIDER" !
Atxally I loved it Albion market
Thanks for the feedback steviegTVreturns, interesting to hear about the possible rerun on Sky Soap in the 1990s, wonders will never cease!
The exterior shots of the market were filmed on a lot in Manchester, near Granada Studios.
That's right some information regarding the location can be found at the following website...

Thanks, that was very interesting :)
Dont it form part of a hotel building now?
Loved this as a kid.

It was too deeply provincial and "grim up north" for sunny london and the south.
Albion Market - as we called it the Poor Man's Corrie.
It's the Chinese bird from Doctor Who - Mind of Evil 🙂
Omg, Pik-Sen Lim is so adorable kyaaaaa!
Her English has considerably improved, too ! And no mention of Chairman Mao!

ACTOR DAVID THWELIS
stars in
THE SKIPS AD !
Pik Sen Lim was also in Mind Your Language
I remember this bollocks
I used to watch this on Granada+ as a kid in the 90s! It was quite good if not a bit dreary.
Return To Eden was the BEST
If I remember rightly Albion Market was also meant to be based on a market operating in Salford?

It got a lot of publicity in the London area. I think i watched the first two or three episodes.
David Hargreaves was the husband in Juliet Bravo
Correct. Bizzarely, he we a also a presenter on 80s school show "THE SCIENCE PRORAMME".
mistofoles
Thanks
Science Workshop. And, he's Mr Chloe Ashcroft too!
Really? Chloe Ashcroft from PLAY SCHOOL??
A presenter on Playschool too. My mother met him on the set of that back in 1979 👍
ITN News 1 minute late
Bloody hell, is that Dixie from Casualty in the hairdresser's?
Joanne Gray it sure is!
And Helen Shapiro!!
Love the Action for Jobs advert at the end. Talk about rubbing salt into the wounds for those actors who found themselves out of work after that show finished shooting.

I have that classic album too!!! The
Albion Market theme I always found atmospheric, even a little haunting... probably the best aspect of the show!
Was it just in this episode, or was the kid ALWAYs crying?
+James Falcon seem to recall the same, that poor child! Of course nowadays they have to use at least two babies so that the demands of filming can be shared between the two
Did the bride have time for a shower ? 🤣🚿
Can't think why this was cancelled! Oh wait, yes I can, it's crap.

Camp is the word
Home to Roost really takes me back to being a kid.
British TV on a bad day
no it was in competition with eastenders
There was a great cast in this :) I was just badly executed and badly written when they retooled the Show that's what It should have been from the start .
22:50 charity Dingles mother
Kelly Lawrence 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Did anything actually ever happen in this?
there was no need for albion market, its exactly the same as corrie
Some things never change with the BBC, completely depressing programs
Albion Market was produced by Granada television for the ITV network
@@tvheaven3691 Oh my bad, still, all the same this and eastenders are very depressing, the best soap was Brookside
eh was John thaw in this , joke
Wow this show was absolutely awful! The worst acting and writing I think I've ever seen in a soap, and just SO dull. Even the theme tune is depressing
even by 1980s standards the acting was crap..........
