Great Video but the amount of Ads is ridiculous! Anyways the video itself (when there was a 3 min period with no break) helped me a lot! Keep up the great work!
Cool. But I think you also should talking about the overall level balance before getting into EQ/Comp/etc. The raw stems were already pretty much balanced, although I think it would be worth pointing out, that simple volume control is most powerful mixing tool ever.
Amazing video. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. You are definitely on my list for Patreon as soon as I'm recovered and making some money again! Thank you, Wytse!
Been watching you for a while... LOVE this mix fix format... it really shows off your skills and the ability to observe your moves and choices has been a big help in understanding your approach!!! Please do more of these.... Cheers!
I really appreciate you making these videos, your style and approach is so refreshing. ~ by far the best channel of its type on youtube, - looking forward to whatever you put up next. ~ Many thanks and much love
As a person who starts his audio engeniering way ,the hard thing for me was to place certain instruments to certain freq. With this video i got rly wide pic of wich instruments is where to be eq-ed. I know it is about the song and i strument in each song. But. This is like basic standard abd i love you for this and i thank you!!!
Ooooh, really interested to hear your thoughts on Timing Corrections. In what situations do you find you're a metronomic-math guy, and when do you leave things loose?! :)
Nice job- agree with your logic that boost in the right places only with an EQ that can remain smooth (usually analog but rarely the right digital plug-in) works well. Also happy to see you understand driving the tape until it soft saturates and lightly compresses. Keep on keepin' on!
Great job once again, I made the switch to Reaper from PT almost a year ago….so much more versatile. I never thought I’d still be discovering new ways to use it a year later.
Really got a lot from this video- thank you! Please do a video of the mastering too. And please A/B between the unmastered mix and the mastered mix. That would be very educational and interesting! :-)
Hi Wytse, just subscribed to your channel. Would be good to see your method for correcting the timing. Clip alignment is something that we all need to do, well, I know I do. Naturally, starting with the drums. The way I do that is by determining the BPM, then recording a click track on channel #1. If its 4/4 ,with the accent on the first beat of course. Giving a higher resolution to the click to 8ths or 16ths will help later. Then using the playhead, I can pause it at the relevant clips and nudge the clips into place using the click track waveform as my ruler. Its a bit time consuming when doing it manually like this, so a clip alignment tool such as ReVoice clip align would probably make that a breeze. Its important from a phase point of view as well as the timing, so a comb filter would help. But when you zoom in on the wave form you can see the peaks / valleys and where the phase problem is happening. Great channel and enjoying all your vids. Informative as well as hugely entertaining. 😂 Big thumbs up!
Hi Witse, great content, as always. I was thinking maybe a nice idea for a video could be the mastering process but then not so much the "audiopart" but more things like compiling for cd-burning and ISRC code implementation, hidden tracks, etc...
Since you're working in Reaper for these mix fixes, would you consider doing a video comparison between Melodyne and Reatune for pitch correcting vocals? I'm really considering getting Melodyne, but haven't found any info suggesting that it's better than what I already have with Reatune. A real video comparison on the features between the two would let me know if it's worth it..
Love this kind of video also. The smile eq technique for the kick is great. Do you use similar techniques for other instruments? What are the hotspots frequencies in your opinion for instruments? You already described the 300-600Hz for warm sounding E-Guitars. Thanks and go on with your great work.
Amazing video as everytime! (: I'm a big fan Around 9:20, to make the kick punch a bit more in the mix, what idea brought you to equalizing it differently instead of raising the volume (or lowering the others)? Thank you!
Very cool video ! Some things that could be improved tho' : - you left out the early stage, which is very important : getting your levels right between the tracks and also checking for phase/timing issues between the tracks ! - sometimes your explanation of certain mixing moves is not very clear, shown too fast, etc... Otherwise : great job !
Reaper had the same effect one I understood it. Nothing but fire. Also have you ever looked at amplitude pro x3 or sequoia 14 they good too. Reaper the boss tho. Bless
Am I the only one who prefered the unmixed version (except that the kick is unheard)? Maybe is just because as a drummer I'm used to overheads being louder than everything else...
Hey man loved your tutorial! What effects rack are you using? I'm a noob, I run through acid pro 8, I don't know if there is anyway I can get some effects with the visual aspect like you have on acid 8, It would totally help.
True, but I rather choose to route it to a new channel, this way I can record it for easy recall. Also, sometimes like to summ a lot of channels into 1 stereo bus. However, the Reainsert does have the benefit of gainmatch and latency compensation...
"the ringing is not where you think it would be" - yes, it is. the fundamental note is not ringing, it's the fundamental note. it's always suspicious when there is a resonance directly above it. i think i'm not into this format a lot. it seems a bit superficial. you just eq and compress a bit to taste. we all do that. something like that timing correction feature you mentioned would have made it more exciting, even though longer as well
Steven Wilson looked really good as a young man
Before @2:27 - After @17:55. Big difference! And this is why I also mix hybrid through a console!
Pls do an A/B comparison of the unmixed and mixed version at the end !!
You can click the red progress bar back and forth! The original sounds really thin compared to the final product.
This format is absolutely flawless. I would like to see one on a Trance track in the future please. :)
Great Video but the amount of Ads is ridiculous! Anyways the video itself (when there was a 3 min period with no break) helped me a lot! Keep up the great work!

Entertaining, educational, and expertise... You don't find that often, especially when it comes to teaching audio... thank you!
Sir, your openness and transparency in showing your methods is a great source of learning. Please keep doing this! Big thanks from Italy
wow this was soo good , keep this format
Thank you for setting in stone using a small Q when cutting around 200hz on kicks. Thats one thing that has helped my mixing a ton.
Been watching you for a while... LOVE this mix fix format... it really shows off your skills and the ability to observe your moves and choices has been a big help in understanding your approach!!! Please do more of these.... Cheers!

Yes! More please ('Normal Gtrs' = Rhythm Gtrs)
This is one of the few videos out there that I can actually hear the difference you made. Good job!
Ooooh, really interested to hear your thoughts on Timing Corrections. In what situations do you find you're a metronomic-math guy, and when do you leave things loose?! :)
It's great seeing you work in Reaper :)
yes!! i like the format and the way you explain things. See what you hear... thanks. The mix sounds Superb on my Speakers.
✨✌️

Sounds great! And it seems so easy, while watching you.... although knowing that it isn't. Well done!!!
yes man, continue please. Your channel is great.
This is really good please continue on this concept
Aaaand again I found a great and useful video and keep watching the others, one by one. Thank you so much for the job you're doing on RUclips! :D
Your sound is always outstanding!
The eq of those guitars is perfect!!!
Have you done a video about timing corrections for audio instruments like guitar and bass? That would be great! Thanks for this excellent video.
The format is great, looking forward to the next video.
Once again, very educational. Thank you for talking us through the equipment on the console.
Great job once again, I made the switch to Reaper from PT almost a year ago….so much more versatile. I never thought I’d still be discovering new ways to use it a year later.
I'm trying to switch , I miss "tap to tranient " and " nudge "
Definitely helps that the song itself is really good 🔥
It would be really nice to hear a comparison before and after.
Really got a lot from this video- thank you! Please do a video of the mastering too. And please A/B between the unmastered mix and the mastered mix. That would be very educational and interesting! :-)
Make a video over your workflow to timing correction. I like the insight into your workflows cause I can grasp them so easily.
Really like the format! The useful information was clearly presented and I could appreciate the audio very well :)
Thanks for the video! :)
Keep this format! Very very informative
Thanks for posting this! I really do appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Great stuff, more please!

Solid low end bro. That tape is awesome.
You killed it sounds wicked now... nice mix bro 💯🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥
So good! Thanks so much for continuing to provide such brilliant videos. Love your chanel.
I like how you just do it and don't explain for hours
You know what would be neat? A mix off to see (and study) how different people make completely different mixes 👍
the best mixing vide i ever watched! :)
Love the channel.love the info.and you not holding your tongue on crappy of good software keep up the realness.
Great vid man, really enjoyed it....keep these series coming. Bless

Show your timing correction tips, please.. 1st thing I noticed.
Nope, I love the drummer feeling human it's wonderful
@@dannyleiva6059 I'm not loving the out of time guitar rhythm though
really helpful. well detailed and actual mixing video. thanks
GREAT! Very interesting, and good solutions to tweak a bunch of parameters with carefully sense of enoughness.Track is rock btw!
17:47 wow die tape sound geeft toch dat extratje aan de eindmix! Awesome
Guns 'n' Roses - Rocket Queen
Great format bro!
You're making me want to switch to hybrid mixing!
Yes! Really looking forward to this! 😀
This was helpful. Thank you.
Love it! Great work man!! Let's collab!!!!
Would love to have heard* a brief before and after at the end. But great video regardless!!
Fun to watch and learn!
This video was really interesting, more of this please! =)
So much for the mixing in mono concept..

Are you Dutch? If you are, maybe we could meet up some time! You sound like an awesome person to talk about audio engineering! 🙂
Great channel & videos!!
please do the time editing video!!!
I do want the Reaper timing correction video!
Dude I would be exceptionally happy if I got this as a mix lol
If you ever need tracks let us know. We record in our home studio, maybe a shootout vs a more pro mix would be good
Please email me! 😊
Love this kind of video also.

Appreciate this vid ...it's a good un.
Nice desk by the way ..
Thanks!
Great job!
Amazing video as everytime! (: I'm a big fan

the best mixing video.thank you.:)
Love this, keep it up!!!
Very cool video !

Also : the unmixed track (just with the balanced levels) sounded great already ! It must be cool to work with something of that quality !
I keep having to turn it way down when your voice comes back in...
This is great.
Love the video, but when you're bringing the snare back into the mix and making it "fatter/fresher" I have no idea what you're doing...
I'd like to know your approach to time alignment.
How Important do you see phase aligning the drums before Mixing?
Nice job
yees, do a video about guitar and bass correction pls
so cool, thanks
great vid sir

Great, you know you have "Reainsert" Plugin So you can route a track in and out of analog path trough a plugin with ability to gainmatch etc!
True, but I rather choose to route it to a new channel, this way I can record it for easy recall. Also, sometimes like to summ a lot of channels into 1 stereo bus. However, the Reainsert does have the benefit of gainmatch and latency compensation...
Cool.
Sounds good, but there's waaaay too much low end
Like he said, it needs mastering.
no...
What do you think about topdown mixing? Is it a technique you use sometimes?
Make the mastering video plz. There are million videos about mixing and only a few about mastering. Tnx!
"the ringing is not where you think it would be" - yes, it is. the fundamental note is not ringing, it's the fundamental note. it's always suspicious when there is a resonance directly above it.

Hi Yep, on the timing correction method, :)
Panning directs such that they're not aligned with their position in the OH gives phasing issues.
Why not trying to enhance the solo with subtle width?
Can you do a mixing House or Techno Video?
Do you happen to know the interface and mic preamps the original raw mix was recorded on?
If you pan the guitar left and right and as each side differently, would that create phase issues?
