Looking for a 3inch or 4inch computer speaker under $200USD. I will be using them for gaming, general listening on youtube, and music listening. Looking for impressive sound performance for the price. What do you recommend?
I was able to get a very sweet deal from a pawn shop for the fives. The first owner almost never used them, they were still in the original box with the original wrapping and everything, cables, cable ties, the remote. They didn’t know what to sell them at and I got em for $299 basically brand new. Keep an eye out folks, there are really good deals around if you look hard enough.
I’m shocked, I owned the original sonos arc paired with two rear sonos ERA 100 and I was incredibly disappointed. Also tried the Sonos beam 2 with two rear era 100 and was also disappointed, normal size room, connected to 65 inch LG C1 oled, very very disappointing, returned them and been using internal tv speakers on the search for a true home setup. Sonos seems to prioritize “ eco system “ over actual sound quality. That’s my two cents.
@@sean795 we can agree to disagree the sonos ARC ULTRA (newest one out ) + the sub Gen 4 + ERA 300's sounds amazing to me ( sold my Bose Ultra and glad i did and also my samsung 990C ) the new Arc is waaay better than the original one. but hey everyone has a different preference to each their own cheers

Wow. So glad I found this video. This is exactly my complaint about soundbars. These types of speakers with HDMI-ARC control seem to be the way to go especially for someone looking to combine the movie and music experiences. The NEUMI BS5P-ARC look to be a great value (add a sub for the lows). They don't seem to available right now however - hopefully back again soon and available in Canada. Any recommendation on what sub to go with these?
The ELAC is now $450 vs $600 on the REN. How does that change your thoughts (if at all)? Looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers for my NON-tech savy mother for Christmas - using for TV speakers and Bluetooth.
Agreed; I was potentially too mean to HomePods in this video. They have their place and can be a great solution if you want something simple, small, and that works in the Apple ecosystem. Personally, I've always been impressed with their sound quality given their size.

I whish I could buy another pair of KEF LSX but I'll be so expensise, so I need to think about cheaper solution. I have a question about connectivity. What is the best interface that gives the best quality? What should I rather use, HDMI, optiocal, type c?
I ordered the Edifier S351DB for my desktop. We will see how it goes, but this may be the start of a journey. I was willing to spend $500 or so total, but couldn't find a powered speaker with sub out, easy volume control access, and convincing enough sound quality reviews.
This video is right on time as I’m trying to buy speakers before Thanksgiving. Quick question - can the second speaker that is not plugged in via HDMI be connected via wi-fi or Bluetooth to the first speaker or must it be wired? I have some physical limitations in my home for connecting the second speaker via wire.
Would the Kanto Ren's be better than ORA4's as computer speakers? I see them being marketed as TV speakers but I'm using a 42" LG OLED for the sole purpose of work (video editing) so I'd prefer HDMI arc
Hey Jasper, need ur advise on the 2 bookshelf speakers i narrowed down to. The Klipsch Five and the Vandatoo Encor one plus... I will mostly be playing Jazz music and they will sit on my desk. They look like Kanto stands but I'm not sure. I really don't like stands that close to the desk which is why I opted for Kanto's 9" tall stands to go with the ORA4.
I'm a fan of Kanto (just ordered the ORA4 for nearfield listening) but when it comes to subs, I always recommend sticking with manufacturers who specialize in just that, REL being the gold standard. But if you don't have the budget, Kanto is certainly an option. It's just not in the same league as a REL. Then again, REL is really marketed towards higher-end audiophile systems so the Kanto may be more commensurate with your stereo.
What do you think of the KRK Rokit 8 Gen 5? I want to get speakers with more bass since I don’t want to use a subwoofer in my small room and with the front facing bass port on the KRK, I don’t have to worry much about putting the speakers too close to my wall. My room is untreated for now, so the various EQ on the KRK might be useful. My other option is the Kanto Ora4 and iLoud Micro Pro-but I get the impression that either the bass will be too flat for my liking (iLoud) or placement might be problematic and I wouldn’t be able to EQ without a computer (Kanto). Any suggestions? I’m not a music creator or producer, but I want to move away from headphones. If it helps, I do enjoy a slightly warmer sound and prefer a slight mid-to-high treble reduction. My preferred headphones are the Sennheiser HD650, Avantone Planar, and OLLO S5X. Much appreciate your thoughts, thanks!
Hmmm. This is tricky. I’ve never used the KRK, so I’m not sure about them. If you’re looking at studio monitors with some tuning ability, you should check out ADAM Audio. The D3V may be of interest; it has passive radiators so you won’t have to worry about a rear port and has some EQ adjustments on the back. I've been experiencing HDMI ARC issues with my Fives, that require me to turn off auto power on my TV, Apple TV and Fives, otherwise the Fives lose sound every time they turn back on. I'm considering replacing them with the Rens, as I've had a pair of YU4's for a while that have been great, and then repurposing the Fives in my office. Love the look of the LSX II, but have doubts that they'd be large enough for my living room. Are those the white or gray Rens in your video? Also, are you able to choose which side (L or R) the primary speaker is? Thanks!
Hi Jasper, First of all, thank you for the detailed review. I am currently using the elac debut dcb41 model at home, a kef sub is connected to this speaker.I am generally happy with the sound, but I am thinking of switching to the Kef lsx2 lt model instead of this system, the sub will be connected to it as well.Do you think it is worth it? I used a passive Kef ls50 for a while, I really liked the sound, but I did not have the opportunity to test it at the same time.
Honestly, since you like your existing setup and you already have a sub (which the ELAC definitely needs), I don’t think the upgrade to the KEF would be worth it unless you’re also looking for better connectivity options. Save your money!
I've been told the sound of the Tuk is unbalanced, with a somewhat boomy bass and recessed mid. Just a guess but I suspect Kanto will release a Tuk v.2 within a year.
How do you compare the sound of the ren to the Ora4s and the yu6s? Btw, the "intangibles" part is super useful since its nowhere to be found. Specs, features you can find, but those are nearly impossible. Great job!
@@simonramirezgarces thanks for the feedback 🙏 I’d say they’re pretty similar to the ORA4s, in terms of sound profile, with maybe a bit more bass power given the larger driver. I’ve never personally tried the YU6, but I’d suspect they’d’ be very similar. The main value prop of the REN is their HDMI support.
I've been using the LSX2 for a year, I feel while it has good or even great mid, it's quite weak/underwhelming on the higher frequency and I think the uni-q driver config is the cause because by having the tweeter sit on the middle of the larger woofer, it's either the high freq output get drowned by the larger woofer when they're performing together or the tweeter alone even couldn't perform optimally (compared to traditional separate tweeter config) if the speaker is only outputting mostly high freq because well, the tweeter mechanical movements in that situation are perhaps dampened somewhat by the larger woofer that surrounds it. I really curious about AMT tech, before I bought the LSX2, I almost went with Kanto TUK, I decided to go with KEF just because the LSX is smaller and have more complete modern connections but now I have a feeling that I'd enjoy the TUK sound more for almost 50% less expensive.
This is interesting, I have not heard this critique before. Have you tried adjusting their EQ in the settings? I find the settings to be 1) very unintuitive but 2) quite powerful
@@Jasper_Tech Well I feel that way coming from an early 2000s Focal entry level HT speaker setup to the LSX2, not a fair comparison I know but the most noticeable difference for me is the high freq, and yeah I've maxed it via the KEF phone app. That being said, have you heard the Kanto Tuk? I wonder how that compares to the Adam speaker that you recently featured, and in general I'm curious about the AMT tech, can you describe the difference to the traditional tweeter? Sound quality wise I mean, not the technical working. Aside from Adam and Kanto, I think Airpulse and Swan have AMT tech in their speakers that don't cost too much.
If using wireless then there are differences between the sound performance of Bluetooth, Airplay 2 and wi-fi. Casting over wi-fi, (Chromecast, DLNA, uPnP) is uncompressed and lossless. Active speakers where amplification is provided to both speakers usually costs more and the speakers are of a higher quality. The speakers might sound better wired 9usb c, Ethernet or 3.5 mm analogue0. Phono inputs for a turntable are at the low end and usually limited to moving magnet cartridges. Very few digital speakers that include streaming will upscale to surround which means replacing them if ever wanting to go that route. for surround sound passive and analogue active speakers are still the easiest way but some manufacturers have their own wireless system or use WiSA.
@@Jasper_Tech I for one appreciate that. I mean, what's the point in auditioning speakers recorded through a mic and processed through RUclips compression and then through a crappy computer DAC and crappy built-in display speakers or cheap nearfield speakers?
Can the Kanto REN connect to a rear satellite pair of speakers? After testing several setups on return policy. We have found that the rear speakers are more beneficial then anything these. It really finishes the setup if that makes sense. Thanks! Keep up the great work I’ve been binge watching your videos the last few days after discovering your new channel! 🎉
Do the best with what you have where you're at. Then draft a plan to make more money so you can buy something better in the future...but you already knew that. 😉
@@lavatr8322 Your budget is $200. The Kanto REN is $600. If I were you (which I’m not) I would save $100 a month for 4 months, buy the REN, and be happy with my purchase rather than spending $200 on speakers I’ll always be disappointed with. Then I’d save up for a pair of good metal stands to position the tweeters at ear level. And then I’d save up for a sub.
I know soundbars may not sound as great, but I do think they have a place. I am afraid of my kid knocking over speakers or even banging on them. I say this coming from having a pair of Kanto 5.25” passives hooked to my Denon receiver.
This is fair. I don’t mean to say that no soundbars should exist, I think they can be a reasonable compromise depending on your goals/constraints. I just think that there are a decent number of people that would do better with a solid 2 channel system.
That's not their market. Powered speakers are for someone who isn't interested in 5.1 surround sound that includes an AV receiver and cables running around the room. But if that's what you want, there's plenty of great options to choose from.
Just wait for your power to go out sometime, even for a second, and the Kanto speakers will lose all their settings. It's really quite irritating. It was my one major gripe with my Tuks before they just stopped working after 1.5 years and Kanto told me they couldn't be fixed. I replaced them as I like the sound and design but I wasn't pleased to see $1000 worth of speakers die so soon after purchase. I hope you're good with constructive criticism becuase I have some: You might want to spend more time with the speakers so you can get to know them well (the good, the bad, and the ugly) rather than pumping out reviews where you say largely the same things and often about the same product(s).
You make fair points. I am trying to find the right balance here of 1) being timely with my videos and 2) making videos for the general population (vs people that have already watched all my other videos). I hear what your saying and appreciate you bringing it up.
Samsung is so finicky with eArc that I eventually took out the cable, and went back to using a toslink connection. Nothing worse than "smart features" that barely work. I'd rather have a "dumb" audio setup that just behaves how you would expect it to behave.
That’s the worst! On other TVs I’ve had some limited success improving HDMI-ARC issues by replacing the HDMI cable with a higher quality one. Maybe worth a shot? I’ve been very happy with my LG B4 OLED TV powered by WebOS. I don’t use its smart features (I use my Apple TV 4K), but its overall settings functionality are excellent and it seems to be very reliable 🤞

I believe it is only ARC. I did not notice any quality degradation with ARC

Well I feel that way coming from an early 2000s Focal entry level HT speaker setup to the LSX2, not a fair comparison I know but the most noticeable difference for me is the high freq, and yeah I've maxed it via the KEF phone app.
Fair points; thanks for this note!
there's no sound sample anymore jasper ????
No sound samples :(
@@Jasper_Tech I for one appreciate that.
@@sean795 glad you’re enjoying my channel! 🙏
Sadly, I don’t think you could easily use the REN with satellite speakers.
The 5 would be great if you didn't have to run a wire between the speakers.
Nice information, but i cant afford none😭
but i do want Bookshelf and no soundbars.... but below 200 I think the SWANs are the only ones
Do the best with what you have where you're at. Then draft a plan to make more money so you can buy something better in the future...but you already knew that. 😉
@LorenzoNW I also have The Edifier MR3 or MR4 on radar... But all this I Want to listen to first and then buy... Which is another overthinking issue.
Edifier MR4s
I know soundbars may not sound as great, but I do think they have a place. I am afraid of my kid knocking over speakers or even banging on them.
I say this coming from having a pair of Kanto 5.25” passives hooked to my Denon receiver.
This is fair. I don’t mean to say that no soundbars should exist, I think they can be a reasonable compromise depending on your goals/constraints. I just think that there are a decent number of people that would do better with a solid 2 channel system.
Buy a Sennheiser AMBEO Max. It'll sound great in a small to mid-size room.
Too bad you can’t add a center channel to any of these.
Klipsch The Fives mclaren edition looks stunning for me)
I had not seen these - very cool!
Klipsch flexus core 200 vs KEF LSX II LT какой из них будет лучше звучать?
