    Wow. This works for me.
    I watched this video, immediately went downstairs and screwed in my 8 inch extension.
    For a test, I shot a 60 ball mighty X drill on my 9 foot table. I did not notice any appreciable change to my stroke, but I would estimate the positive accuracy change of 15 to 20 percent. I was able to pocket all 60 balls in a much shorter time.
    I am encouraged enough by these results to continue using the extension during games.
    Thanks for publishing this video.

    Hi, I really liked your video (also the other ones). Tried it over a year ago and helped me on my long pots. I find that elevating with it is more difficult. BTW, I tried it bc I am a short guy 1,69m and need to use an extension often. It helps smoothing out imperfections in a players stroke. Now I prefer to play without it, but don't mind it being on between shots. In straight pool I need an extension often, so I often leave it on.
    I really appreciate your extensive replies to all reactions to your videos. Keep up the great work. Wilko, from The Netherlands

    I believe a possible benefit is added stability. That is, it might stabilize horizontal movements. If this is true then adding heavier weight bolts would not be as effective since the added weight would be very close to the center of gravity. Thanks for the discusssion

    What about using an extension sometimes? In other words, depending on the shot? I have started using an extension this week and I find it might be most advantageous to use it for some shots and take it off for others. I pretty much just play on 7 foot barboxes. For tight quarters positioning, shots that need a soft touch, safeties, etc. I like to keep the extension off. Also, sharp backcuts where I want to stun the cue ball across the width of the table I like to shoot without the extension. But for medium to long shots, I feel my accuracy goes up with the extension on. If I need to hit a follow shot with speed, the extension helps greatly,. If I don't have much of an angle and need to generate cueball speed off of a rail, shooting with the extension helps. But I guess my main point/question is why don't players ever go back and forth depending on the shot? I guess this idea is somewhat similar in theory to golf.

    • @HereAfterBilliards
      @HereAfterBilliards  Месяц назад

      Very interesting. For me that would be a lot of work taking it off and on. The big part of this is the added weight. If you're messing with that and changing the balance point of your cue I think it would be too much for me. But to each their own! Thanks for commenting! 👍

    More lenght on the cue change the ballancepoint ,more weight the power and so its easier to cueing straighter...the arm has not the possibility to get out of line and the effect of this is more accurasy in the shot... If i play with an extention, no matter 3 ,6inch or 8,the effect is huge

    Thanks for the excellent video, you made me a new subscriber. I’m 78 years old and 6’3”. When I started playing the only guide I had was Mosconi’s book, and Willie had me put my right hand an inch or two behind the pivot point. This gave me three inches of cue beyond the bridge. About three years ago I saw a video of Marc Wilson where he said you needed a much longer cue beyond the bridge, but then my right hand was off the end of the cue. I found a permanent cue extension that fits between the shaft and the butt. I now have a 66” cue that weighs 25 oz. I always used a heavy cue (21 oz.), as the 19 oz. cues just felt too light. The pivot point has moved to the front instead of the back and feels much more natural than a butt end extension. It’s never been about reach, as at 6’3” there was never a reach issue - just don’t be lazy, use the f*****g bridge.

      Well thank you for subscribing! That's a super heavy cue but we all differ in our likes. If it works for you that's all that counts. I love that you're still playing pool. Never stop! Question for you...have you ever seen the glasses that are made for pool players? They sit higher on the bridge of your nose and when you bend down the frames don't interfere with your vision looking down the table. Perhaps that will help with your eyes🙏👍

      @@HereAfterBilliards I have seen those glasses. My problem is that the glass lenses (and contacts) allow me to see the cue ball well or see the end of the table well, but not both. I also have no line trifocals, but I have to tilt my head just right to get where I want to look up/down without moving my head and then my neck spasms. I’m really thinking of getting the new Light Adjusted Lenses for cataracts (I have some, but not enough to really affect my sight yet). I’m in the Philippines now so I may have to travel to a big city or India to get that done.

    I’ve had an extension for my cue for about three months now. When I first tried it, I thought like you… that it’s different. Not bad, just different so I’ve been playing with it on and it has made a difference in my game. I would say my shot has increased by maybe 15% better. The only downside that I have found is when I went out with my friends to a local bar and played pool with them, I was forced to use a house cue to play with and my game was really off.. felt like I was playing with a little kids stick!! Adjusted as the night went on but the first five or six games felt strange….

    Thanks for your video, it is good information. I have different idea about using extension. The increased weight helps "slow down/calm down" the stroke and your stroke will be more stable (as you mentioned). It is in fact that there is more than one "Centre of Gravity" points on the cue (because it is a moving object). The cue action (or "pace") should depend on "acceleration" rather than "weight". If the cue is balanced WELL and it is light-weighted, you can still slow your stroke, have the "calm-down" feel at the same time. If you want to experiment this point, try using a light-weight cue, but put some weight at the joint area.

    • @HereAfterBilliards
      @HereAfterBilliards  7 месяцев назад

      Now you're talking my language. I'm all about trying to understand acceleration through the cue ball. This has to be a factor!. Absolutely. Thanks for the comment and opinion👌

    • @ngsaichin1
      @ngsaichin1 7 месяцев назад

      @@HereAfterBilliards Thanks for your reply. It is the cue makers, each has their own secret balance formula for weight and balance point. If an extension of the cue can do the trick, cue makers already produce longer cues. Look at Steve Davis and Oso, their "cue height" is lower than their shoulders. Lighter and shorter cues can produce more acceleration but you need to have a smooth cue action in order to handle a lighter and shorter cue. In fact shorter cue is more accurate.

Bought a cuetec south dakota package that came with a 6" extension in 2019 and tried playing with extension on. now i don't really take it off anymore. 2 big benefits i got from this was the stability in my rolls from the cushion and extra power (weight really) when I needed to force a follow or a draw. I think another observation you will find when you play more with the extension on is your cue is always going to be parallel without your concious effort and all you have to do is stroke it to nail most shots off center easily. your follow through will be more pronounced and affect the cueball a bit more accurately. let the cue do the work.

    Playing with an extension plugged in the butt is the easiest way to test play a heavier version of your cue. If you like the balance, then it's okay. If not, just increase the weight, if you can. I play with 18.5 oz. on smaller tables and it's a bit easier to adapt to bigger tables adding a bit of weight. But I prefer a light cue. Heavier cue are better for long shots, for short distances the lighter cue will have all advantages.

    • @HereAfterBilliards
      @HereAfterBilliards  7 месяцев назад +1

      No I wouldn't. In golf the speed that the golf head hits the ball is called club head speed. Distance is increased because the club head speed is great. Pool is the same. I'm a believer that your breaker should be light so you can generate cue speed. A heavier break cue will slow your cue speed down. Now with that being said todays new break cues are used because of their shaft and hard tips. That's another factor.
      The flip side of the argument however is age. The older you get the less likey you'll be able to generate that speed so breaking with a heavier cue might help because the weight will help. So in the end you need to make the decision. Where are you in your health and age? Only you can analyze that . Just my opinion. There are some that swear by a heavier break cue. I simply don't agree with that because of the reasons I've stated above. 👍👍

      I really don't know if SVB is feeling something that I can't. For me it's really that Earl said. It calms my stroke

    I'm still going to be late to the game because I still don't use my extension when playing with my cue and neither does my friend he rarely even brings it out. I don't ever rarely bring it out because it just adds unnecessary weight

      So you've never tried it? You choice if you don't want to of course. To each their own. It's just interesting. I like it. Never thought I would.

    Are you using the S.M.O shaft?

      No not yet. I want to get my hands on one and try it out. There's actually a little screw you can use with the SMO to adjust the weight of the shaft. I find it really interesting! Have you shot with that shaft yet?

    Would you get the same feel with added weight instead or a centre extension?

      I'm thinking yes but playing in 9 foots it really is nice just having it on there. I could be wrong though.
