Good review, Guy! Given the sale price of the Castelli Alpha ROS 2 and Lite, I don't think this jacket represents particularly good value! Although I do really like the idea of the venting zips, something only found on the Perfetto jacket and old Gabba. The gilet simply needs to be undone and not taken out, that's pretty pointless!
At last a winter jacket with 5 pockets. Not seen this since Asso 851 Proline Jacket. Which I still wear even though mine are 20 years old. It's a classic. The best feature of Endura Jackets are the usable large capacity pockets. Take note DHB, Castelli, Sportful etc. Guy is right. You need to carry more stuff on long winter ride. I go out early morning when the temperature is often just about freezing and spent 6 to 7 hours out by which time in the afternoon is can be 7 to 8C. You need to carry spare gloves for when it's milder in the day. I also tend to take a second pair of gloves as a back up. Just can't have enough pockets, don't have to use them, but if they are no there in first place you don't have the option. Particularly nowadays as one pockets has your phone in it. The jackets looks a great. Have you done a long ride in it yet Guy?
Yeah I've done a few longer rides in it now - massively envious of your schedule though - and as you'd expect the whole extra pocket and vent versatility is even more of an advantage on an all dayer. BTW for a similar kind of vibe have a look at the Thrmoz gloves from Spatz with the flip over 'lobster' finger covers. Even my wife rates those and she's super fussy about gloves. As someone who still has an 851 Proline you're clearly a connoisseur, still regret giving mine away to a more deserving home as I had other jackets to test.
@@GuyKesTV Hi Guy, thanks for the tip on gloves. The problem going out for such along time is that your gloves wet with sweat. So I always carry a second pair and a second part of liner gloves. I still have 3 851 Proline Jackets. Absolute classic. Even Asso don't make to this quality now. Want to buy one they are medium. Regarding my schedule. Just like you I love riding bike. 1305 miles so far this January. Might see you one day at Dalby. Plenty of new off piste for gravel tandem.
Hi and thanks for the review. Could you comment if this jacket can be used in temperatures up to 12-15 degrees C? I'm looking for a breathable soft shell as a first priority and wonder if this one is a good option. Primaloft vest seems like a good bonus, but spring temperatures are my first concern.
I understand this jacket is waterproof. It says on their website it’s made with -“The outer shell deploys a mix of high stretch, waterproof membrane fabrics” I have the earlier version of this jacket and it’s supposed to feel like a soft shell but waterproof. I found it a bit boil in the bag. Too hot for mild weather so needed to wear it in the cold. The problem was it had to be so cold you needed to wear thicker gloves. But the thicker gloves would not fit under the cuffs. So if it was raining the water would run into the glove cuffs. I did not like it at all. Bought castelli windproof with a separate waterproof instead much more versatile
I had the earlier version too which as you say was a bit of a sweaty tank. I guess that's why they've gone lighter on this one with the option to 'warm up' with the gilet.
Hello, can i ask how tall are you ? I am thinking about buying this jacket and wondering about size since i wear sometimes M or L from Endura. From what i saw that was size M in the video ?
Considering the price, the Italian elephant in the room is Castelli’s Perfetto. How do the two jackets compare? 🐘
Thanks for the review Mr Testerman! Had a wee chuckle at "professional nit-picker".
finally a jacket with forearms zippers ! I have been daydreaming about something like this, even wanted to take mine a tailor
It’s amazing/disappointing how few people do it. I guess it’s a real riders piece of wisdom, not a garment designers 🤷♂️
@@GuyKesTVMany motorcyclists have known the benefits of forearm vents for years. It’s about time cycle clothing companies caught up!
Thanks for the review, Guy. Being searching for a quality jacket, very tempted on the back of this.
It does a really good job as long as you've not got long arms.
Good review, Guy!

I’d say much two warm for that bracket. Have a look at Endura’s Jetstream jersey with a thin base layer underneath for that 👍🏻

I'm 180cm but skinny. I could probably get away with a small in terms of body size but the arms would be short so the medium worked for me.
@@GuyKesTV Im 182, 69kg and i have long arms. Looking at your video i should probably try medium size. Thanks for the info.
@@michasztandera364What is your piece of advice for a 186cm and 78kg guy? Should it be M or L?
Thankyou! Is this one for females too? I've quite a full figure not a skinny women!!
The sizing is proportional so figure is fuller on larger sizes. I'd double check the fit with Endura though to make sure you get the right size.
