No wrestlers do what the promoter tells them and collect their check. Moolah did business right. But what Moolah did to her trainee's taking a cut of their salary for the rest of their careers was discussing.

Best video you guys have done in awhile. Some real wrestling history that doesn't get mentioned in every single video. Hearing about all the scandals that happened before my time was great and proof that "History repeats itself" and "the more things change, the more they stay the same", and "power corrupts" among other cliche and hackneyed sayings are 100% true when it comes to the world of wrestling.
Pretty sure I heard about the Zighat (sp?) MSG scandal on one of Jim Cornette's podcasts. Apparently it killed the New York City market for decades until Bruno Sammartino came along. English speaking NYC turned it's back on wrestling, but non-English speaking New York never read the English papers, only the papers of their native tongue and knew nothing of the scandal. Vince Sr & Toots Mondt realized in 1960 that if they market an ethnic wrestler they can bring the market back. Bruno Sammartino came into the company and the rest was history. Also, the Wendi Richter thing wasn't "The original screwjob". The original happened in Montreal in the 1930's. It was the inspiration for the "Montreal Screwjob" against Bret. It was Jim Cornette who recommended that finish to Vince. Again, that was discussed on 2 separate episodes of the Jim Cornette Experience.
@@highimjason I swear they're not other than "LoL , TNT, LOL" . Different time, different TNT, and a different roster. So, When you're sick of seeing your favorite wrestler getting buried by Vince. Go watch AEW this fall. Something new and different.

And Lizzie, well, didn't have to Google. Just say, got a few DVDs of her already, and yeah. 😜😂
Wendi Richter's opponent The Spider Lady was supposed to be Judy Martin, who was a bit taller and much younger than Moolah. The whole incident involved a failed attempt to push Mad Maxine as Richter's next feud (possibly at Wrestlemania 2), and the Spider Lady (Martin) replaced Maxine because Maxine was so piss poor in the ring. So the match was moved to MSG instead. Maxine was also supposed to be a character on the Hulk Hogan "Rock 'n' Wrestling" cartoon, but Moolah fancied the idea of getting those image use royalties for herself. Meanwhile, Vince & Wendi were in contract renegotiation talks, and Wendi wanted a big raise. As they say, you don't cross the boss, and asking for a raise from a wrestling promoter crosses the line, so that's the real reason Wendi lost the belt that night. She didn't even change into her street clothes; just flagged down a cab outside the Garden and went to LaGuardia Airport where she caught the first flight home. She eventually went to Puerto Rico, where she met and married Hugo Savinovich (!).
This is actually one of what cultures best list, and I go back to watch this sometimes maybe not the most entertaining, but one of the most fascinating. I wish they kept this kind of list up.
