  • It hit me this morning, I'm bored in this expansion already. I figured it would be a good opportunity to hear other peoples opinions on the current state of the game and whether or not I'm missing out on something special, somewhere, somehow.

I'm so happy you've made this video, because I started to feel that I was alone. I really love the expansion so far, but like you, I'm bored, and I don't really know why. I've leveled 4 characters to 100 now, and I feel like I've just been logging in, doing my missions, doing my daily HC (even though I've already outgeared dungeons), my daily apexis quest and I even do Ashran on a daily basis. What I feel like I'm missing in this expansion, is that I have a choice of what I'm doing. Doing everything listed above just feels so linear to me. I feel bad about it, because in the previous expansions, the daily scene was pretty similar, but it didn't have that linear feel to it, because there still was a wider variaty of dailies to choose from. Other than that, I hate the current state of LFR and I hate the world bosses too. I do feel the only thing to look forward to is raiding in a guild, but I don't really feel as motivated as I have in the past and I don't really know why. Either way - Happy New Year!

I just had to reply just to say when you mentioned all those dailies I shivered in regret and I went to the point to stop doing apexis daily just didn't find the outcome that rewarding because working full time and coming home just to do all that just feels like it's draining you! So no, you aren't alone! I'm trying to love this game and I hope the same for raiding guild, trying to find more to have a laugh with because that's all there is atm. :/ Happy New Year between!

Crossy you really hit the nail on the head with this video. I really agree with you and I have been feeling very much the same way. I was so excited for Warlords of Draenor, and as I was leveling I thought that WoD was the best expansion to the date, but after only 1.5 months I am already bored. Last week I unsubbed from the game.
I bought a Nintendo Wii U for myself over the christmas break and after being out of console gaming for nearly a decade because of MMOs, I have to admit, it is really great to be back. I am having far more fun in Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart 8 is balanced, competitive, and does not punish you if you miss a week like WoW pvp conquest system does. Super smash brothers is a blast, mario 3d world, etc...
I left console gaming a long time ago because Everquest drew me in like nothing had before. I transitioned from Everquest to World of Warcraft and have been there ever since off and on. But I really feel like the MMO space is dying or dead. Every MMO that comes out is a clone of WoW and is always worse then WoW, and WoW itself is boring as hell. So with no real innovation, I have the awful feeling that maybe WoW killed the MMO genre that Everquest 1 really brought to life. I still to this date think that everquest 1 was a better MMO, but as an adult with a career and a wife I could never play like that game requires.
Now going back to console gaming, I find it fits with every day life, I don't have to give up anything to play console games, and I am not punished for not playing them. Console games are new and fresh with each one that I buy. It's like a whole other world that I am rediscovering, that I left behind years ago, and seeing that its alive and well really has made me look at gaming in a different light.
I am now developing my own console game with a small group of friends, something I had thought pointless because all I could see were MMOs, and if it wasnt an MMO there was no point in playing it, and what's the point in making a game that you don't want to play? Now that console gaming has convinced me that many games are worth playing, I see a point again.
As a MMO player, if WoW is the best MMO, there are basically no other MMOs that I have time for. However as a console gamer, if Mario is the best platformer, thats fine I can beat it first, and then move on and play shovel knight even if its not as good, and I can enjoy them both. This creates a space for many games to shine, and its a real breath of fresh air to me.

I've got to agree with you 100%, I'm feeling the exact same way you are about this, which is why I ended up unsubbing a few weeks ago. It's too bad because it really does leave a gaming hole that isn't easy to find a fix to, if that makes sense. The Raiding is nicely designed but like you said, i've seen it before and its really not to different from previous expansions. A few recycled boss mechanics and things. PvP hasn't seemed very balanced really either in my experience either. The garrisons has felt very forced and unfun. It was interesting at first since it was new, but then once I understood and what I could do with it after a few weeks It got to be something I could just ignore and feel no difference. It seems like a gimmick to sell the expansion or something I don't know. Thanks for showing me that it isn't just me man, take care!

For the first time in a long time I am sitting on 10 seals on my main with no motivation to raid and use them. My guild is raiding Mythic and I could join them, but the 3+ hours a night, 3-4 times a week when I work full time and have a family requires me to be pretty motivated to do so. I just dont feel like its worth it anymore. The leveling experience in WoD was pretty good and the garrison thing kept me interested for a while, but now that I have 25 level 100 epic followers (and most with max ilvl) its wearing pretty thin also. My game time runs out in about a week or so, and im not willing to pay £120 a year for a game that feels like more of a daily chore than an enjoyment right now.

  • @CrowsDescend
    @CrowsDescend 9 лет назад +2

I totally agree. Been sitting in my garrison a lot lately... I want to raid, but I do not have the motivation too. I want to PvP, but I also don't have much motivation there too.. now I've played since WotLK, maybe I am getting old and bored of doing the same old stuff on WoW, I'm not entirely sure... I've missed weeks of raiding and have only killed 4 bosses in normal ever since Highmaul came out. I don't even have the motivation to use premades group and find a raid... and my guild are all in heroic gear already. I don't even know why I'm in the guild too, I signed up for the odd raid, miss it/don't get invited/too low ilvl for them apparently (I am 645) and yet I sit here thinking hmmm what to do... so what am I doing? Leveling another alt. Why? I.. do not have a clue. Meh. Let's hope things change eventually, and Blizzard does something different for us.

Ok so I watched your video in its entirety and I have a few thoughts/solutions to your problem. First about garrisons, yes they are dull, revolving, require no thought and keep you away from the world. But they also fill a vital role which I will touch on in a moment. Second, end game things to do: Yes you should be raiding. HOWEVER! Join a raid team with 2 days a week/ 3-4 hours a night. This will let you enjoy the best part of wow : Boss kills, socializing, jokes, gear!. And how do the garrisons help? We used to not only have to raid but on our off times we needed to farm gold, craft ect ect. With garrisons, it does it for you so most of your game time is spent with your raid team. This, combined with a 2 day/week raid schedule youll have plenty of other time for IRL stuff. Enjoy WoD, and remember the next content patch is coming so get that gear ready!!!!

    @ogdooh 9 лет назад

Hey I think this was a very meaningful video, you raise a lot of points that I haven't myself been able to put my finger on. So thank you! For me, Warlords of Draenor was a big hype starting with the letdown of launch, enjoying myself very much leveling up to 100, playing for about 1 month capped at 100. And I think it also hit me like a truck, the only things I found appealing was to farm gold and some transmog gear. The raiding have never really been something I'd invest my time in except some MC back in Vanilla (which was epic), and PvP just felt mindnumbingly grinding. So the two huge cornerstones of lategame did not appeal to me and all I did was to farm currency and cosmetics which can be seen as secondary to the game (something you do in-between PvE or PvP I guess). And I think it hit me like a truck too, there's more meaningful things I can invest my money and time into. But because of all the sentimentality I hold to this game, it was so hard to accept that truth and be honest about it. I'm really sad that I know I won't be able to enjoy WoW again, at least not during this current expansion. I will probably try Legion, but my hopes are not that high since I know I will probably face the same fate as I did in WoD, and that's totally on me that I just got tired of the structure of the game and doing it all over again in a different scenery.

You're right, but that's why I love it! I can spend a bit of time getting my character ready, then all I have to do is log on, do the raids (which is what I actually enjoy doing) then log back out without having to piss about with grinding tokens for coins or valor or other bullshit.

I've said many of the thing you did in this video. I was one of the few people that stepped into original Naxx, didn't full clear, mind you, but I was there. I have four lvl 100's and WoW for me has just become a two times a day rotation of clearing my missions on the four of them and 4 LFRs on tuesday. I felt that whole pointlessness of gearing up back with SoO, just knowing that everything is will irrelevant. PVP doesn't have the appeal for me that it did back in wrath when i was obsessed with arenas. My toons have the xmogs i want. I loved this exapnsion, minus Spires zone. But I'm just... Blah now.

I like WoD. Story is very good, The Garrison is a step into the right direction, though it needs improvement here and there. I for one would like to have the Option to choose between ALL THE HORDE'S Architecture Types. For example I play an undead... then of course my first choice would be the undead style architecture. As the main house... I want the Necropolis etc.
I miss the Cooking Daily Quests. I have the Fishing Shack on level 3 and Frostwall Tavern on Level 2. With these 2 Buildings I'd like Blizz to make me FEEL like a Commander of my Base. I have Troops, Crafters, Workers etc., but I have to feed them somehow. Let's see:
-I log in and out of nothing I see an exlamation mark inside my War Mill. My workers there haven't tasted some good Durotar Food for a while and ask if it's possible to cook them their favourite meals. First Step in the Quest is to go to the Tavern Cook and talk to him about it. We all know that Goblin and Pandaren Cooks are the best in all of Azeroth. So why not let the player do something for the Crew in the War Mill?
-Next day my Blacksmith wants some good food. For some reason he / she knows that I am an experienced Cook with a lot of Recipes and Knowledge. The Blacksmiths there have heard about the Pandaren Cuisine and want me to prepare some excuisite Pandaren Meals, and who am I to say no to my Crew? First step would be the Tavern in Halfhill and since I am a master of the ways, the quest becomes more interesting for me.
-Next day my Mission Overseer has an exclamation mark. He had a talk with ALL MY FOLLOWERS and he wanted to share their thoughts with me. "Commander, I had a talk with Tormmok and he said he hasn't some decent food in Ages. Why don't you go and talk to him? I am certain he will tell you what he would like to have on the table." And then I go to Tormmok and talk to him. "Boss, I am troubled to see what the Ogers are doing in Nagrand and everywhere in Draenor. It is almost like they have lost their souls to something. Could you cook something FOR THE SOUL for me? And here we remember The Rock... the Chef from Shattrath (BC) and of course we rush to him and ask for the Recipe, so we can prepare the good stuff for Tormmok, which would be the soup for the soul :)
I had a blast doing the Cooking dailys, because they also told me a little story for me to enjoy.

I have found the Garrisons to be a mixed blessing, i loved them at 1st, but now i have 3 chars that i feel i have to log into every day to mine, herb then set the follower missions, that is the best part of 30 mins spent before i can play. At which point i have the same issue with raiding, i simply do not have the desire to commit 3 hr slots 3x a week to a raiding guild, that always insist you are a pro before you even start.
I was originally thinking i could skip past most of the normal dungeon phase just via crafted items and follower rewards, but then i have to do heroics not knowing the dungeons and wiping every boss, lol. All told i am just not feeling the level 100 experience, my warrior is the only 100 so far and i actually cannot face playing him. I have 2x 97's which i am holding back on capping because i know it will be the same feeling.

I want to start by saying that I have been playing since '05. I remember (and miss on my hunter) the sub 1 second attack speed ZG bat. I went in and solo tamed one, not a huge accomplishment, but back then it was the cat's meow feeling. I disagree that WoD is the best expansion so far. Of course, that's a personal view, but there are many things that are contributing to that. And yes, I am VERY bored (to the point that I still have a month left on my sub - which is cancelled - and I'm not playing it at all). Issues are:
    1. Garrisons. Neat for the first week. Past that, a HUGE chore, they limit interaction with others to trade - which I turned off due to the influx of trolls this expansion has brought back - and for an MMO that is completely the opposite of desirable, they gate what quests you can do (one per week for Garrison Campaign and one per day for a daily), and possibly my biggest gripe is the design of the Horde Ghetto....I mean Garrison. Really? Devs think we are ALL enthralled by the ugliness that is Orgrimmar?
    2. Professions. One word; Pointless. Unless you want to gear an alt (more on that soon), and let's face it, 3 piece limits are just plain NO.
    3. Leveling. First toon through I somewhat enjoyed the quests. I don't think they were as flexible or well designed as the MoP quests, but that is opinion. And they weren't as involving, despite what some people say, as past expansion story and leveling quests, unless you're a megalomaniac who can't hear enough about himself/herself. Second toon/etc.? No thanks.
    4. The Iron Horde. Pretty uninventive, Bliz. Not to mention most of the main leaders are dead already.
    5. One possible main patch: Tanaan Jungle. Plans for Farahlon have been scrapped or so I have read and heard recently. /sigh
    6. Raids. Not very interesting, on any mode. Compared to TK, BT, Kara, SW, Uld, Naxx, OS, ToC, ICC, FL, MV, HoF, ToT and SoO.......Highmaul is a joke.
    7. Talent Trees. Still that garbage? Whoever implemented these current trees over the old ones (no matter how bloated some specs tended to be) should be fired and banned from the gaming industry FOREVER. On the threat of castration should he ever try to return (or something equally harsh, should the offender be female) to the industry. I wasn't happy with them in MoP, but at least the rest of the expansion had something to offer. And don't give me that nonsense of "they were trying to get rid of the cookie-cutter builds". How? By replacing one cookie cutter with another? At least the old cookie cutter had some flair to it, some level of choice. Now it's a "choose this talent or your heals, tanking and dps will be CRAP". (last bit comparison is purely opinion...but face it, there were a couple ways to make most specs viable in the old talent trees compared to the unimaginative garbage in place now)
    8. NOTHING TO DO. Save for put-you-to-sleep, mindless, repetitive, killing for rep (after you hit 100). No fun dailies. And if anyone says "jumping puzzles"..../slap with a hammer in the teeth in advance.
    9. Lore promised. Not delivered, especially Draenei lore. Could have been SOOOOO much better.
I got a closure of sorts (if you want to call something in a game that) in Nagrand with the final battle between Thrall and Garrosh. Hellscream is dead and I'm happy. One plus for the expansion. Other than that: Honestly, I think this expansion is one step above Cata, which is (not arguably) the worst expansion of any game, ever. I played Cata for a total of 2 months (at the end, getting ready for MoP). It makes me sad to see my favorite game to have been relegated to my pc's recycle bin. And it makes me angry that I fell for the hype that Bliz instilled and I payed for this P.O.S. Never again Bliz. You got me with 2 crap expansions, I won't be coming back.

  • @dark9nine

I think that only people that raided since Burning Crusade will understand you and agree with you 100% like i do.. (I feel almost exactly the same but i DONT think that WoD is the best expansion or blizzard gave us all we wanted, thats a lie. that's not true and you know it) I think the new people think WoD is good expansion because they never played the good old times/content, Blizzard is doing nothing to make the game better for US, just better for THEM (Business-wise). And that's the truth.
WoD is boring and was terrible experiment, as i always say: They need to stop trying to re-invent the wheel. BC-Wrath is all the need as an example of a good quality game. ALL WE NEED is more frequent content like BC times. I think "the feel" will never come back.

oh sweet i was waiting for you to make a new video!
A lot of your opinions mirror my own. I too have started to become bored with the game. Aside from logging in on tuesday to cap conquest and raid days, I only log in to empty my garrison. It's gotten to the point where just walking to the herb garden/mine feel like a chore and too much, and there have been days where i simply couldn't bother to do them. The game feels too much like an idle game.
I don't know, I keep trying to force myself to like it. Maybe you had a point about growing out of the game. I guess the game is no longer what interested me in the first place. Or maybe my own tastes have changed.

Yeah when I was playing this I was mindlessly bored. While I was raiding I was having a pretty okay time but nothing like it when I first started raiding.
I dunno the expansion was pretty well done(besides the launch) but I dunno I'm not sure if it's the community, myself or.... I dunno.
All I know is that while I was logged in I was super...fucking....bored and I had no motivation to do anything. The game became more of an ambien for me than a video game.

If by bored you mean.. Only logging on for raid night and every few hours too send out more followers on missions then logging off to play other games.. then yes i'm bored :>
I want a daily Hub zone, Tol barad was one of the best things ever in the game for me.. I did that zone on so many charrs :D
But i have really only had WoW as "The" game for years then in MoP i started to "Notice" other games.. and played WoW less and less because those games i guess.. are more fun?
But i'm still so attached too WoW i want to be geared, i want to do good damage.. just because "reasons" so i keep raiding, but on the times when it's not raiding or doing the weekly old content it's back to games like Vindictus Or Dragon age inqusition :D

For the Blizzard Devs. You need to base on outside world content instead of graphics updates. Graphical updates removes the game nostalgia that makes people confused, kind of like you take an elders childhood doll and replacing it with a new one and better. you try to like it but you cant.

Played since TBC and raided every week through each expansion working towards realm 1sts and at the same time doing achievements, reps, farming, professions, 5mans with friends and making new connections on the realm.
WOD has made me so turned off to WOW for the first time since 2007. They've taken the community and soul out of the game, everything automated and locked behind timers, we have less content than ever before and yet we have had to pay more for it. PvE has been ruined with the multiple settings and gives no reason to step up to mythic, PvP has been neglected, world content cut out, professions are gutted and boring, the whole expansion is basically centered around the garrison gimmicks.
The sub loss reflects how people feel, all the old players I knew in TBC, WOTLK, Cata - who came back for WOD, have all let their subs drop. They came back for what was promised to be the best expansion yet, going back to the great days of interesting content, community and skill.
People are desperate for content that shows some touch of effort from blizzard, but they get sloppy reskinned seconds and empty promises, whilst getting treated like $$ until blizzard pulls their fingers out for the next expansion. Forgetting we just paid $50 for WOD and $15 per month.

If you are already bored, then maybe you should do something different, play another game or try a new hobby, just a tip.

Nothing new to raiding dude you've got to kidding me.
    For starters
    NEW GEAR
    NEW BOSSES
    NEW CONTENT
enough said if you and other people that get bored go start a new toon and gear it up theirs plenty of daily's to to do on a daily basis so you NEVER have a excuses to say theirs nothing to do
and if you want a more fast paced gaming experience there's pvp which can also get you geared for pve quite quicly
people that complain there's nothing to do or are bored need to take a serious look at the game ther always smething to do, get with some guildy's run some lfr norm heroic what ever your passion is. this is b far the best expanion and keep i mind a new one coming out real soon
I for one would like to see content to the very end b4 the new one come out, and thay means all the reps all the toys all the mounts all the achives THERE IS PLENTY TO DO AND NO REASON YOU SHOULD EVER BE BORED

Completely green with you but tbh it is blizzard fault. Experience isn't needed anymore only ilvl and blizzard let ppl just buy gear in the AH without needing to raid. OK crafted gear is one thing but when I open pre-made groups all I find is hc farms trash it saddens me. Raids are suppose to be epic getting gear from bosses and keepin them. Not ninja steal an item and sell it the AH for 100k gold which is idiotic btw. Blizzard needs to make those items bop so that ppl cab enjoy raiding again

It's boring, I fucking hate it. No choices for leveling: it's only one path, especially at the beginning. I loved Vanilla & The Burning Crusade, after that, not so much.
I hope somebody important takes note of the extreme dislike of Warlords of Draenor.

Bored and unsubbed, the only thing holding my interest is the legendary questline, I'd like to see how it plays out, but paying £10 a month to do one quest in a game and spend the rest of the time afk alone or doing old stuff that I've done time and time again is not great value for money

I unsubscribed for the first time since vanilla, they ruined it by making it easy for the masses and ruined guild dynamics. Raiding has become monotonous and easy.... I'm finally done :-) now what????

Yes Cloud you are correct. I'm older and have played WoW since Vanilla, started hardcore raiding in Naxx and found the game amazing till the lich king, last patch was meh but I was still immersed. I finished all raiding content on normal always before the next expansion came out. I was excited about wod and jumped in full force, raided everything on normal and heroic but found it to be the same ol' same ol' Our clan raid died as everyone is in lfg, and lfg makes me itchy. I grinded my garrison to max including all my followers but the payoff is stupid and meh. So I packed up the game, deleted it and haven't looked back, unfortunately i'm addicted to hearthstone, but at least I can play a quick game here and there..... Farewell Eitrigg, farewell Shadowsong it was fun while it lasted. :-( I've tried other mmo's but like you said they are ALL THE SAME, and wow tops that list so I can't bring myself to playing them. I guess it's clash of clans and hearthstone till some new breakthrough takes the stage...

Just take a break from WoW. Play it less, explore different MMO's.
