Great to see the works reopen. I visited it a few times in the late 80s when MC metals occupied a part of the yard. The works were a lot bigger then . Tesco took over a big part of the site. ZH.

The works used to have direct access in from the Gartcosh line but this has been removed. So trains from the Gartcosh direction have to go almost all the way to Springburn before reversing onto the siding on the west side of the Springburn-Gartcosh line and using the headshunt to reverse into the yard. I was a wee bit baffled as to where the shot at 0.39 was! I didn't realise the direct connection towards Gartcosh had been removed (although I should have because you can see it on this recent video by Mick Lewis - ruclips.net/video/kbwqmJvSxvs/видео.html ). Thanks for a video of what will always remain (sadly) a rare scene.

@@GJ37425 correct, built be Alstom I believe, it's limited to 35mph.

Built by SVI in Italy. Owned and operated by Alstom in Italy before being moved to Alstom UK where it was used exclusively in Scotland for the Edinburgh to Glasgow (EGIP), Shotts (H2MEP) and Stirling/Dunblane (SDA) electrification projects. Laid up in November 2018 at Polmadie as there was not enough work for it and now headed back to Italy.
      Too efficient for the UK!

Interesting machinery. I guess NR need to keep these branches open. Even though rarely used.

No. This is Springburn works, the line in the background on the early shot of it in the undergrowth is the Springburn to Cumbetnauld and Springburn to High Street lines. There is a large Tesco and Costco on Springburn Road that is next to the works.
