The joy on his face says it all. There is nothing like making music. That feeling of being one with your instrument. The excitement of having a great snare, a nice set of of strings, the perfect reed or mouthpiece, whatever it may be. The happiness of this player is intoxicating.

He don't need one at this point I've played double kick along time and since I went to single pedal I feel I really started learning how to play drums instead of double bass ...not knocking it by no means ...but a lot of people lean on it like a crutch ...the best thing I did personally was loosing the other pedal. ..hi hat work to me is much more impressive. ..again not taking anything away from the double bassers. ..just me personally.

He has a Meinl and a Zildjian hi-hat. That's cool I normally see people with just Zildjian cymbals or just Meinl cymbals but this is next level from that

amen, having a melodic quality to the drums is very underrated. Mitch Mitchell was actually super crazy when it came to that. if you dropped all of the guitars out of the Jimi Hendrix music, you'd hear him seriously go off. "Manic Depression" is probably a prime example.
also Dave Grohl on "Smells Like Teen Spirit," as iconic as the main riff was, those roaring monstrous drums had just as much as a sonic signature to them. maybe its the computer speakers, but they don't do those drums justice.
same thing with Jay Dee, aka J Dilla. his drums and the breaks were like perfectly tuned to each beat. it's Hokusai level simplicity but uniqueness and timeless, like Hokusai. a lot of people think J Dilla is overrated and boring. but that's beat making blasphemy.
yeah Sergio's playing is like hearing him sing it and beat box at the same time.
I wasn't sure if I was crazy hearing the melody line. Absolutely the most insane thing to do on a kick drum. Love the idea of it!
I tried playing smooth criminal like this and I still can’t do it smoothly yet but learning it that way has surprisingly really helped with
