Elvis' best work was from 1968 to 1977. That is when he began moving around different styles of music. The songs from the 50's were excellent but not crafted well, almost juvenile and just basic rock, country, gospel songs. Sure, when I hear 50's Elvis I want to pick up my guitar and sing Blue Moon of Kentucky. The sixties, when Elvis was in the Army he heard a different sound. Pop and Opera of what he came across. But by 1968 is when Elvis knew the direction he wanted to take. He did meet up with Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Eric Clapton and a few other Rock Stars in the 70's. Too bad there was nobody with a camera to film those moments.

The album it went on was released in '74 but it was recorded in '71. I think it had sailed, perhaps it was just old by the time he even commented on it. I bought the album when it was out, it was already old, see. I guess not everyone would know that, but it's actually what happened with this great album. One of his best albums if you ask me. It showed him to compete with the contemporaries. It's a great recording.

This is better then what they put out in my opinion. Elvis was better singer in the 70s no he didn't have quite the range but in the 50s and 60s he wasn't singing songs that were challenging like this and quite frankly elvis nails it
I have to mention It's Now or Never" & "Surrender" were challenging from early 1960's, just to point out. I think his voice was the best in early to mid '60's.
