space jam
Honorable mention: Space Jam (1996)
like mike
thunderstruck in the movie there's kevin durant
The Air Up There
Not only Space Jam was a great basketball movie, but the soundtrack was awesome. Still listen to it to this day.
Disgusting
It was also a cartoon 😂
@@louky2228 Still a movie
Coach Carter is Samuel best work. That movie is so good and make you feel all kinds of emotions
It taught me that winning in life is way more important than winning just some few games. Didn't even know Channing Tatum was casted before becoming big.
@@artfire28 yes
Space jam and coach carter are the outstanding basketball movies of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
yes
True 😌
Also, I probably want to watch Coach Carter because I haven’t seen it before
I grew up on Space Jam
@@jcj268 who didn't
Hoop Dreams should be on any shortlist of the greatest movies of all time. It is just incredible.
Ebert named it the best movie of the 1990s, ahead of Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas.
Sunset Park and Blue Chips are criminally underrated. A bit of a tough list to crack, but they deserve their credit.
Sunset park was different 🤝
Sunset Park soundtrack was 🔥
Great movies all, but Sunset Park also deserves honorable mention. Totally underrated
Was hoping someone would mention that underrated 💎. I remember going to see that opening night with a neighborhood friend. It’s one I hope to find on DVD one day for a decent price.
I don't know why watchmojo doesn't do honorable mentions like they used to.
Very good call out! That should be on there over Basketball Diaries
@@renecarteir8092 The Basketball Diaries definitely deserves its place on the list. That’s another ‘90’s classic that doesn’t get enough love. Especially when you consider the cast & where they were at that point in their careers.
@@EvaFull in not saying it's a bad movie, but in terms of basketball movies/documentaries, the likes of Sunset Park, Blue Chips, The Last Dance should all definitely be higher than basketball diaries
Remember: There is no crying in baseball, but sometimes, there is crying in baseball movies.
Bull Durham (1988)
A League of Their Own (1992) ...
The Pride of the Yankees (1942) ...
Field of Dreams (1989) ...
Eight Men Out (1988) ...
Moneyball (2011) ...
The Natural (1984) ...
The Sandlot (1993)
“Your whole basketball career turned wack, when you came back a wizard like Gandalf the Black.” Muhammad Ali
The Basketball Diaries was such an underrated movie that accurately portraits addiction and its consequences. Leo deserved that Oscar!
My favorite movie of his ever since discovering it on Cinemax one day in the mid ‘90’s.
It was very good, but Leo was slighted that year
Semi-pro is obviously the best basketball movie of all time! Historically accurate, very technical on the basketball side. It's a shame it didn't get its spotlight here.
Agree bro agree
Hoop Dreams is a classic sports documentary, love watching it!
It's one of my top 5 all-time favorite movies, "Love and Basketball". I love it 🏀❤️😍
Theres also good ones based on true stories one called Hurricane Season with Forest Whitaker which about a team from New Orleans who won the championship after Hurricane Katrina. The other one is called Rise which is about the Nigerian Greek brothers who got drafted into the NBA in the states.
My top 11 basketball movies of all time:
1."He got game"
2."White men can't jump"
3."Above the rim"
4. Love & basketball
5. COACH Carter
6. Sunset park
7. Space jam
8. The Sixth man
9. Eddie
10.Juwanna Mann
11. Celtics Pride
Except for The Sixth Man, Juwanna Mann, and Celtic's Pride this is way closer to my list
Very good narrator. Smooth voice.loved it.
Space Jam and Uncle Drew are my favorites
Honorable Mentions: Space Jam, Like Mike, and Juwanna Mann
Rise and Uncle Drew
10. Space Jam
9. Blue Chips
8. The Basketball Diaries
7. White Men Can't Jump
6. Love and Basketball
5. Semi-Pro
4. He Got Game
3. Hoosiers
2. Uncut Gems
1. Hoop Dreams
Hustle deserves to be mentioned. Also:
Blue Chips. The Air up There. Uncle Drew. But Above the Rim and White Men Can't Jump will always be my favorites.
"The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" with Dr J. Julius Erving should have made this list, but I guess you would have to grow up in the 70s's to remember this movie!!! It was the first of basketball movies to cast an NBA player in the lead role. I'm also surprised that "Blue Chips" didn't make the list as either!!!
Always loved Rebound: The Legend of Earl "The Goat" Manigault
That film was heartbreaking. Earl should had been better than MJ but I was glad he turned his life around. Don Cheadle portrayed him so well.
Sunset Park wasn't known very well but it was an amazing basketball movie.
It’s time to get live! It’s time to represent!
_Blue Chips_ should definitely be on this list.
*HONOURABLE MENTION:*
Hardly a "basketball movie" per say, but definitely had a big list of actual NBA players ... _Forget Paris_
Was kinda shocked it didn’t get an honorable mention
@@EvaFull
Blue Chips or Forget Paris ?
@@mrmojomajestic8317 Blue Chips
The Way Back is a slept on basketball flick
My childhood basketball movies were Air Bud, Space Jam, and Like Mike. And my teen years, I watch Uncle Drew. Four of my favorite basketball movies in my opinion.
Thank For The Video about Basketball Movie🏀🥇📺📼🏅🏆
Oh and there was that movie that had Nick Nolte in it as a coach, I think it was called Blue Chips? The movie The Air Up There was my favorite as a kid.
Top 🏀films alltime
1. White Men Cant Jump
2. He Got Game
3. Above The Rim
4. Love & Basketball
5. Hoosiers
6. Space Jam
7. Coach Carter
8. Air Bud
9. Glory Road
10. Like Mike
Space Jam, Just Wright and Uncle Drew are the best basketball movies I love to watch
🏀🏀🏀🔥🔥🔥💗💗💗
Celtic Pride and Eddie. Knew these movies wouldn't be on this list but both are great basketball movies!
Honorable mention for "One On One" with Robbie Benson and Annette O'Toole c. 1977
How the hell do you not have Blue Chips on this list? This should definitely be top 5. You are Sus😂
Ikr
He got game is a classic
I don't know why but I don't really watch sports but I like watching movies about sports. Coach Carter and 42 are the one of the best sports movies I've seen
People sleep on Finding Forrester, a long time favorite of mine. Personally, I would've liked to see The 6th Man on this list.
I wish y'all included "The Air up There"
Nice list, but I'd argue some of the placement, there's a few honorable mentions I would've thrown in also.
My personal favorites
1. He got game
2. Hoop Dreams
3. Above the rim
4. Space Jam. 1996
5. Blue Chips
6. Hoosiers
7. White men can't jump
8. Coach Carter
9. Love and Basketball
10. Glory Road
Blue chips is another good basketball movie... And white men cant jump should of been higher on the list... It is such a great movie... I cant believe they are remaking it...
Blue Chips should be on this list. And Hoosiers is the best basketball movie ever made and one of the best sports movies ever
White Men Can't Jump is ranked too low. He Got Game is brilliant 🔥🔥🔥🔥 For a second, I think Teen Wolf was gonna make it. I was about to say 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amazing!
Sunset Park!! My favorite. Plus Sixth Man!! Dope list still. Can’t forget Celtic Pride and Eddie
Rebound: The Legend of Earl "The Goat" Manigault
👍👍
Coach Carter, Space Jam (1996), White Men Can't Jump and The First Slam Dunk are the best sports movies I've ever watched
Hoop Dreams Still The King 👑
A Must Watch Film if any interest at all in Basketball 🏀
The sixth man is one of my favorites
So underrated
Coach Carter had poor Cruz do so many suicides, he might never go home again.
I think Cruz was the most developed character on that film.
@@artfire28 Yeah he was an angry, confused kid.
@@thedarkcriminal1658 he had tragic childhood
Hurricane Season, Like Mike, Just Wright, Uncle Drew🏀 should be on the list.
"Survive and Advance" and "Once Brothers" would be my honorable mentions.
Where's " The Fish that saved Pittsburgh ". I loved that weird and lovable movie!!
YESSS!!!!!! Dr J was the first!!!
No Space Jam?
My thoughts exactly.
Nor Space Jam: A New Legacy?
@@kingmaxiejacobforever7816 yeah both were great films.
Space Jam is One of The Greatest Movies Ever
Exactly wha a jip
Glad to see Hoosiers so high on this list, great film… the fundamentals of basketball in this movie are beautiful.
The way back, should of been here. It's so good.
As long as He Got Game is on the list I’m satisfied, Hustle on Netflix is also phenomenal
White Men Can't Jump is a given but Blue Chips and The 6th Man better be on here somewhere.
"Fast Break," starring Gabe Kaplan (Welcome Back...), Mike Warren and a surprisingly good Bernard King is worthy of an honorable mention. Its contemporary, "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh," with Jonathan Winter, Flip Wilson, Meadowlark Lemon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a terribly disappointing Dr. J, deserves its oneway ticket to Hoopsville.
Finally!!!!! Someone mentioned The Fish....Although a comedy it was a pretty good movie with a great soundtrack.
You are damn right coach Carter is on this list
Loved Glory Road.
Amazing video watch mojo of basketball 🏀 movies, fantastic job.
The Air Up There , is one of my favorite Basketball Movies to watch
1. Rebound “legend of earl manigualt”
2. Glory road
3. Coach Carter
4. Blue chips
5. Juwana man
6. Like mike
7. Space jam
8. Uncle drew
Sunset park is another amazing movie.fredro star from one of the best groups ever in onyx did his thing.word up son
Have loved that underrated gem ever since I saw it on opening night at my local theater with a friend.
@@EvaFull its a amazing movie.1996.the 1990s is a legendary decades.the last excellent decades.word up son
Disappointed to not see Sunset Park on here but I'm happy af Hoop Dreams is at #1. Can't say how many times I've watched it.
The fact that Space Jam doesn't even get an honorable mention is a travesty
Maybe do a whole WatchMojo gag reel video at some point? OR a gag reel countdown?
My favourite basketball movie as a kid was Like Mike!
Ray Allen sunk one of the most iconic shots in NBA history .
They forgot to put the goated. The best basketball film of all times. The one that changed the NBA and the history of humanity.
CROSSOVER another one of the goates. Juawanna Mann
Don't forget "like Mike"
Juwanna Mann was a cautionary tale of what if Britney Griner is actually a dude.
This is a list I’m not a fan of missing two of my favorite basketball movies.
You should’ve at least had some honorable mentions.
He can you not even mention FastBreak,The Fish that saved Pittsburgh or Cornbread,Earl and me.
CLASSICS!!!!!!
“You need to bounce back to North Carolina kid. Cause your rapping sucks more than Space Jam did!” Muhammad Ali
“Ooh here comes Jordan. Big time wobbling, flying through the air like a big dumb goblin.” Muhammad Ali
I thought that was @ERB!!🤔🤔🤔
Mon Top 5
- Les Blancs ne savent pas sauter
- Above the rim
- Blue Chips
- He Got Game
- Coach Carter
Coach carter #1
I think glory road and then coach cater second. But coach cater should def be up there
Make a top 10 best Tommy Lee Jones movies, please.
I like y'all countdown , but in my opinion would be a lil' different. But all the choices are good, after seeing Hoop Dreams on there. I will say I wanted to have the chance to the chance to be them, Mr. Agee, Mr. Gates.
Michael Jordan did Space Jam because of seeing Julius Erving aka Dr J in the "Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" and Jamal Wilkes in "Cornbread Earl and Me".
Other great basketball movies: Space Jam
Like Mike is my favorite basketball movie!
glory road will always be my favorite basketball movie❤
I'm surprised Air Bud and Space Jam aren't on this list.
High Flying Bird should have made it, it's a serious great, tense and beautifully made film
The movie "Believe In Me" should have gotten some love and recognition
Everyone raise your thumb if you thought Space Jam was gonna be on this list and ended up disappointed that it wasn’t! 😭
Space jam and like Mike the best movies ever ❤❤❤❤❤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤❤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yall had me until Hoosiers popped up and u gotta have Blue Chips this one od y'all best list though
I can't even watch Love & Basketball without feeling some type of way
No "Heaven Is A Playground", no "Rebound: The Story of Earl Manigault", no "Cornbread Earl and Me" but thankfully they made the right decision by not putting Teen Wolf on here.
Space Jam is the highest grossing basketball movie of all time and it didn't even get mentioned? That's wrong. It stars Michael Jordan for crying out loud. No mention for Like Mike either? Again. So wrong.
I definitely agree with Hoop Dreams as #1
"Space Jam" is nr 1, right?
The original Air Bud movie should have also made the list
My Favorite is Space Jam (1996) 🏀
Hoop Dreams is a must watch for any young hooper
The 6th man and a 1000 to 1 are the greatest basketball movies of all time
May be a little out there but what about Kuroko’ Basketball: the Last Game?
This list is meaningless without Blue Chips. Blue Chips is an underrated cult classic from The Exorcist director, William Friedkin that captures the feel of the early 90's with appearances of newcomers Penny Hardaway and Shaq.
Disappointed Air Bud and Space Jam didn't get an honorable mention
1. Not having Blue Chips and Space Jam invalidates this entire list.
2. Hoop Dreams, He Got Game and Hoosiers placed well, but WMCJ and Above The Rim should round out the top 5.
