I don't think that old of a digital camera even supports an SDXC card. Maybe that's why they thought it wasn't working! Probably the 1 GB card was originally in the Kodak camera and the 32 GB card in the Handycam, and somehow they got switched.
That would certainly make sense, but both SD cards contained photos taken on the Kodak camera. The old 1GB card was almost full with those photos, but there were also two very short videos taken on the Sony camcorder in some hotel. So I would assume the original owners thought the Sony camcorder didn't work as it wouldn't record for any longer than a few seconds, probably because the old SD card was at first too slow, and then full. I agree the cards must have gotten switched around accidentally. On their photos the original owners certainly didn't look very tech savvy.
That Kodak camera brings back so much memories, I used to have that exact model in my teenage years… Brought it on every trip, and every party… Must have taken many thousand photos with it and never did it fail. Still have it somewhere I think.
I thought for a moment Sony had lost their mind and were actually selling cameras this cheap. IF that was the case I'd defiantly buy one!
That 32GB SD card was a good score, easily offsets the cost by a few euros. I used to have that same Kodak camera, it was fun to play around with as a child despite it being a lower end model.
I've had an HDR-CX130, from new since 2012, which I still use today, as a webcam with a cheap HDMI capture device. Cool camera! I did spend more than 10 euro on it, though. :-P
Does it give clean HDMI output for recording in the studio?
@@ridethefog yes. Clean HDMI output, with no text on top of the video. 👌
thank you

Absolute bargain. Still staggers me how much technology deprecates so much in this 21st century. This camera is very similar to my dark red JVC Everio 445 which has 2 x SD card slots and a 40 x zoom
Thank you dear friend! I really enjoy your videos!
My recommendations strikes again. Nice video.
Thank you :)
Cool.
One of the main cameras I use is a HDR-CX220 which is a bit different than this one. It doesn't have the touch screen and the zoom is extended to 32x. Picture quality is exactly the same given it's the same sensor, but it does shoot 60p. I still prefer to shoot it at 60i and deinterlace it to 60p later because this 1/5" Exmor R sensor has a ton of noise, and somehow shooting at 60i the noise is a bit more tolerable. Both of these cameras only have Electronic Steadyshot, it's not optical, and does degrade the quality a bit since it crops some of the sensor to have headroom to pan the picture.
Hello Dr Cassette Perfect Video Presentation.
Thank you :)
Good to see you!
Thank you for another well made video!
You are welcome :)
NIce. I've always liked camcorders. Ergonomically, they can't be beat.
I have an another sony handycam FHD but not like this one it has a smaller battery and uses small memory cards it has the exact shape but the battery is not like that one my new 4K camcorder has two batteries one in in the camera and spare one like your camcorder
That’s a great score. The 1 gigabyte card may be usefull for retro hardware ( old pc card readers from the early 2000’s). I wonder if there is a HDD in the handycam, I thought I’d hear some faint harddisk noises coming from it.
There is no HDD in the Handycam, it records to SD card only. The faint noises you hear are coming from the autofocus system.
The menu looks exactly the same as my Sony HDR-AXP35 4K Handycam from 2017
Sony unfortunately has not really changed the menu system on their camcorders for many years. By now I think there is a lot that could be improved. But there is just not enough demand for consumer grade camcorders on the market anymore to justify putting any significant resources into research and development of better new camcorders.
nice bargain!
9:09 Аккумулятор сделано в Японии. Из России посылочка? ))
Jeez... why the heck didn't you bother changing the time and date on the Handycam, and why did you set it up to display all the text in German?
Setting date and time on video would have been a waste of time, I went back and set it correctly after making the video. Setting the language to English for the video would have been a better choice. Not that any of this matters as you just seem to be looking for things to complain about...
@@DrCassette Oh... I see.
what adapter do you use to send the test recordings from the camcorder to your computer? ihave this camcorder and im new to this stuff sorry 😭
And what software do you use to open the files??
Hello! Can you rotate the screen to see yourself while filming? Sorry for my English. Thank you! 😃
Yes, you can rotate the screen :)
👍👍👌👍
Honestly image quality is not that great: details are soft for an HD camera and colours are overexposed. Maybe it can be improved by disabling some "auto" functions, but i guess that is what you can expect from a 2012 video camera ...
Also keep in mind this is just a cheap and basic entry level camcorder...
@@nooneinpart maybe I got it wrong, but I thought DrCassette bought it as an alternative to the slightly older handycam used to shoot this video. I think it is no match, the older handycam is sharper and has better colours rendering (no over-exposure, greater dynamic). For 10 euros you cannot complain, but I do not think it is up to the task of shooting youtube videos in 2022.
