A great, balanced review for a new product. It'll be interesting to see how the product develops, and I agree that Mountain missed a trick by not having it use the existing keyboard ports to better integrate it. Regardless, I think this is a product that will fit my needs. Keep up the good work.
We spoke to Mountain about this and they replied for us to share 'This was assessed in the development stage and the conclusion was that there would be too much power draw from the keyboard itself, which already has to support the media dock through those ports, the numpad, and the USB hub in the middle port.'
@@KitGuruTech Thanks for answering my question! It's actually a good reason too, I hope they find a way to communicate this reason to their customers. Seriously, keep up the great work :)
The more competition in the market, the better. Its an interesting system combining the products on the desk. I noticed how messy it all looked. I think if they make a new keyboard it should have suitable power draw to handle those 'extras' and to neaten up the work desk experience.

As for future products, we aren't likely to hear what they will do.
Nice job. A very informative review. I'm only dipping my toe into streaming right now so I'm not a prospective customer but my first question on seeing these was, "Are there wireless versions?" With three monitors, microphone, headset, soundbar, colour calorimiter, HOTAS, webcams, etc etc I already have far too many cables to manage. My second was, "Are they USB 2 or USB 3?" On your website you say they are USB 2 but they use a USB C - i.e. USB 3 - connector so I am rather confused.
I just bought it and having problems programming mouse Macros. How is it possible to program a left mouse click at position X Y on the screen? Could not figure it out or the software doesn't function. Before and sometimes I am using bome midi translator pro (a powerful tool) and there I can program mouse clicks at any point of the screen, thought this is here also possible?
They look quality. Like the weight and rubber base you should be able to tap those keys hard without them moving around on the desk which is really annoying.
Love those products! But what I still wonder is whether this can also be seen as a midi controller? For example for my lighting software. Putting presets on them? Greats, :)
The lack of connectivity of the displaypad to their keyboards is the only deal breaker for me. Because that means more cables to manage (sigh)...Though I understand that maybe the ports on the keyboard may not be enough to power these new accessories.
Seen you guys review their products before. seem quite well made from what i have seen. My kid brother seems interested. Will be like cable central however - pity they didn't have a proper USB hub on the keyboard to handle the load from these to keep all the cables neater.
I'm surprised no other company has made more streamdeck competitors. I'm also surprise Corsair haven't implemented the streamdeck tech into the keyboards. They own El gato...
Is there any way to get the Macropad working with the latest verion of OBS (30.0.2)? Since Version 28 websocket is build in the OBS software but i don´t get die Macropad connected.
Great review! May I ask if you can program the macro pad to copy and paste texts? Like if you press macro 1 it’ll type “How are you?” Something like that. Might be a helpful tool for replies at work.
Quite late to this but gonna answer this for other people who want to do this: Theres a program called AHK (AutoHotkey) that allows you to set macros to keys with scripting. Its a powerful program that also allows for GUI to be scripted with just a notepad.
I think one of the biggest issues mountain will face will be the software side, Corsair have been fine tuning their software for such a long time now, and while some people say its a resource hog, I find its been such a good bit of software to use over the years - when most companies including ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI etc all produce such shockingly bad software. Mountain seem on track to prove a challenger in future years however.
Weird they have an eco system in place with ports you can't really use to support their own products. I assume its to do with power draw, but its a bit of an oversight IMO

Quite a variety of reviews on this channel - never heard of mountain before tbh
look well made, where are the company from? europe?
Hi, good presentation and clear dialogue, I like this guy much better than the last one for peripherals.
i know this is an old video but you can plug it in directly to your keyboard now (Everest keyboard that is) and its works like normal.

I have no need for this, but good review Mat. well presented.

Good review btw Mat. weird the USB ports arent able to be used in a high power state, would neaten up the whole configuration
Can you use the keys as a way to play video across the whole matrix of keys on the display pad? That would be neat.

Greats, :)
Is it possible to use the MacroPad simply as an extension of the keyboard, for example to have more keys for GTA Roleplay or for other games?
How do you rate the build quality Mat? think they would last a bit of rough treatment over time ?
Good looking products Mat, not so sure i like how basic the software is however,.

How did you export the moon wizard icons to use with the display deck?

Maybe an upcoming product might address this. But that didn't come from them. seems a lot of people are asking for this.
With the Elgato software it can register alt devices and I’m curious could this connect through the Elgato software
will take them some time to catch up with corsairs software standard however.
A streamdeck competitor, good news. might help drive some of the elgato prices down a bit
Nice job mat, pretty cool looking gadgets. not much use to me, but I can see the audience. about time elgato had some competition
awesome review mat, looking good, like the 'out of the shower' look !
I have a Mountain Everest Max keyboard and yeah their software sucks bad. Was looking at getting some of these accessories
2 years later and still no multifunction's; damn, how long is that pipeline?
I think the company was sold and the support for devices like this hasn’t been there since
I'm surprised no other company has made more streamdeck competitors. I'm also surprise Corsair haven't implemented the streamdeck tech into the keyboards. They own El gato...
Even Logitech

Great review, good diction too.
Hey mat would you buy these yourself or stick to elgato? really curious
Good question would these have the same support especially via software as Elgato.
@Mat Mynett Yeah they really do support their products well don't they.
good review mat, thanks
No problem 👍

Good product that, never heard of the company before.
Those display keys look brilliant want those all over my keyboard now but will stick with Elgato I think.
Who are Mountain?
sounds like N-O-D-E great vid
Does it work with mac?
I need to know this
weird elgato and corsair havent adopted the streamdeck into a keyboard, surely thats coming soon
Cool stuff
Yeah shame about wires, don't want 3 cables.
you sound the exact same as Damien talks money. your accent is sos similar haaha
Cant find their products to buy anywhere. seems kinda pointless
Where do you live?
Both are on sale directly from Mountain - looks like they ship worldwide: mountainggshop.com/collections/keypads
Streaming is so annoying.
