- Quick comparison of these 3 univibe pedals.
Poopy video as camera was too close but you get the basic idea.
Sound recorded from Boss katana via USB - Видеоклипы
The Danelectro sounds great for a budget pedal.
JHS probably the winner here - but I've heard that the tap/subdivision features can be problematic.
I’ve had a micro vibe and 2 dejavibes over the years. Just got a Unicorn v2 and it’s my favourite so far. Great to have a volume poor and the range of depth control is fantastic. Not fussed about two temp but it works if that’s what you need.
Honestly, the EHX Good Vibes is one of the better Univibes I've ever played through.
Second best Unvibe I've played. Best is the Jam Pedals Retrovibe
the chicken salad sounds really nice
i thought it was the jhs at first! really surprised to like it so much
I sold the JHS it was too much vibe, so it overpowered the overall sound imo
@@HanfordTapeSessionsYeah I got a Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe and sold my Jam Pedals Retrovibe Mk3. $80 vs $550!.
Cool vid. I have a Danelectro cool cat vibe. Its pretty damn good for the price i paid for it. 3 knobs. Intensity, speed and mix.
great demo!
The jhs is a brilliant pedal techwise and creatively
Chicken Salad sounds great. The JHS have too much bass end. I love the Voodoo Lab Pedals. I have Proctavia, Sparkle Drive and Tremolo. I want to colect all.
Just got a micro vibe and its great my favorite ones for simplicity are the chicken salad and micro but the jhs is very clear and glassy but if you want a kenny Wayne Shepherd or Jimi Hendrix sound id definitely get the micro vibe they're a bit pricey but definitely worth it
Just the video I was looking for. I own a Unicorn V2 and I really like it but lately I’ve been thinking I should of went with the micro vibe which I’ve been a fan of for years. Sometimes I don’t trust my instinct with pedals. Years ago I had the old metal enclosure Dunlop UniVibe which I really loved and had a really cool metallic tone which I thought really mimicked the original vibe on the Hendrix live albums.
I find the the unicorn a bit much, i wish it had a mix knob so you could blent the the clean and the vibe sound.
Josh Wah exactly. It is too much. I can’t get it to not make too much unneeded noise if you know what I mean. Vibes should be simple. I love the simplicity of the Micro Vibe and it has all the components ( light bulb, photo cells and so on ) needed to get an authentic vibe tone. Do you prefer the Micro Vibe to the JHS? The
@@jordandangelo180 When i first got the JHS i preferred it as it is brighter sounding, (my microvibe is a little dark) but now I prefer the Microvibe as it is less in your face. I am still looking for one that suits me perfectly.
@@HanfordTapeSessions What's really cool is a JHS modified Micro Vibe. I've gone through both the Drybell V1 and V2, Mojo Vibe, the Deja Mini MkII and I always come back to the JHS modified Micro. All the vibes I've had are good, I just prefer the modified Micro. It's like a stock Micro, just more. If you can find one, get it if you just want something a little more than the stock Micro.
@@TheTN24 cheers, i will look into it
I found this, new old stock, for $45 at my local store. Worked okay for a minute then stopped. Took out the battery and connected an adapter. Works perfect now, hopefully for a long while
Update: it had the original, still wrapped battery in it. Didn't think to check the date on it, cause I really didn't think this was new old stock, I thought it was just new. Battery expired in 2006 lmfaooooo. So, that was the issue. Works perfect with a new battery or an adapter. If you can get your hands on one, get it. Sounds awesome.
I liked the Chicken Salad and the Micro Vibe, tho the MV was more intense and bassier. The JHS sounded too hi fi and kinda thin. Ive about decided I like the old school modulation stuff better. Ive gone back to a Ph90 from the Walrus Lillian for the same reasons. Sometimes "better" and "modern" and "more features" isn't better after all. Out of these 3 I think the Dano wins. Think I'll pick one up when I get the opportunity.
My Unicorn v2 sounds best with the level set to around 1 to 1:30, the bass frequencies fill in a bit more. It can also sound thin with the depth below 1 o'clock... the dry signal can use a better treatment in the circuit IMO.
Where is the shaky Jimi
The Chicken Salad by a mile and no wonder prices are climbing on them
Yeah I got one a few years ago now I wouldn’t be able to afford it
“By a mile”? Have you heard a real Univibe? The Chicken Salad was undoubtably the best value for its price when it was new, but it’s definitely not the best Univibe emulation out of the bunch. The waveform of the modulation is too even and lacks the characteristic abrupt “throbbing”.
Danelectro or voodoo? They seem to sound very similar
both :)
@@HanfordTapeSessions yes they very close!
Microvibe
For me Danelectro. The JHS is too harsh/shrill.
Chicken Salad by a mile.
