  • Hey guys,
    I'm now 23 years old and I have been learning this instrument for 2 years and 10 months, and hope you enjoy the progress video.
    I am mostly self-taught by watching RUclips videos and found a teacher after one year of practice, I took around 10 hours of violin lessons and then I was on my own again. because I am currently master student and I can only practice around 1 or 2 hours a day, hope I can have more free time for this.
    I am still not be able to play the violin confidently and in a perfect way, I will work on in the future :-0

    Watching violin progress video is what make me start learning. Great to see so much progress. "You have to learn the violin when you are a small child" is such a big lie. Thanks for sharing your videos

      @LaFleur i would say it depends. if you are a musician to begin with its alot easier. you allready developed alot of the skills necessary.

    • @ellenqian3179
      @ellenqian3179 4 года назад +8

      well...it's not a lie. If you want to be a professional classical musician, then you certainly have to learn it at a very very young age. But if you just want to be an amateur musician playing for fun, it's never too late.

      @YGOrochi 3 года назад +23

      @@ellenqian3179 what you said is 100% false. The human brain doesn't work that way, it's like Language, sure it's easier with a baby sponge brain to absorb all the information however, it by no means, means that you cannot learn a language at an older age, my dad is 56 and has spent the last 4 years learning German and has just got his Degree in German Language... so yeah, completely false.
      What holds you or anyone back is their attitude, attitudes like the one you appear to have. Have more faith in yourself.
      We can do everything children can do, it just take longer.

    • @joetron333
      @joetron333 3 года назад +15

      @@ellenqian3179 this is absolutely false. Ive played music my whole life, and I have encountered several people who picked up classical guitar later in life and excelled. Is it harder? Sure, but not impossible. Being a professional only means you make money off what you do. There are plenty of older students who could audition for a professional orchestra and land a spot if they have the chops...and many have. All it takes is time and dedication. Its not gymnastics or sports where your whole body plays a factor. And age is a hindrance. Will you be a professional pianist in your 80s? Probably not. But 20s 30s even 40s and 50s its totally possible. 10 years of dedicated practice in any instrument will get you to, or close to professional level. If you practice correctly.

    just to warn you: for those that are here watching and thinking this is the "usual" progress - it is not! Even for children!
    Either this man has experience with instruments before, he practices for hours every day or he is exceptionally talented (and it might very well be all of these combined!)
    So please don't feel like you can't do this if you didn't make as much progress - for most people this takes much longer!
    Just wanted to add this as I know for some watching videos like these can feel discouraging, especially if you compare his progress to your own progress. Also, some will get unrealistic expectations of what it takes to learn the violin - because for most, it is much harder than practicing 3 years and being able to more or less play Czardas.
    to the creator: great job of course and I am very happy for you that you have learned so much in this short amount of time! :)

    • @vibratoqueen450
      @vibratoqueen450 4 года назад +41

      Yeah, isn't it so amazing how he was able to gain SUCH a great understanding of how the instrument works just by watching RUclips? Just LOOK at that Czardas - he almost has a Sautille! He probably has a very organized mind as much of learning how to play the violin is learning the process of practicing and improving things - thinking logically! This guy has to be one of the most talented people I've ever come across. I've been taking lessons for 1.5 years and believe me, I certainly didn't think this was typical progress!

    • @ethan7550

      Compared to mine . Yet I didn't think he progressed well enough for two years . 2years and 4 months he was getting his stuff together. But I'm disappointed to hear the commentors warnings that he is exceptional in playing that gypsy piece . You all mean that it would take 4 years to get that good? That busts my bubble. And I appreciate you all's warning

  • @stew148
    @stew148 4 года назад +161

    This is really impressive. His bow is surprisingly good since he has only been playing for 3 years! Just a tip though, maybe practice more scales and technical work instead of just pieces because that way when it comes to actually playing pieces it will seem a lot easier and will sound so much better. I can definitely recommend Kreutzer’s 42 etudes for studies, they’re really helpful. But this is seriously impressive and inspiring. I can tell that he worked really hard to get this far in such a short time.

    • @stew148
      @stew148 3 года назад

      @Kay D3333 It's probably the way your fingers move and how your arm weight sits into the bow. I'm not a professional so I'd recommend speaking to a teacher about it. But I can say that Kreutzer's 6th and 7th Etudes played at the frog can be very useful exercises for you.

    You're good. I've been playing since March 2019, about two and a half months. Within one month I was playing about two dozen pop tunes, but still have plenty of scratching and coordination problems. Your sound quality was excellent from the outset for a beginner, really good control. I just bought two bluegrass books to learn which should give me good exercise on fast fiddling and a better ear for improvising around simple melodies. At 23, you can easily become good enough to make money with your instrument. Good luck.

    If you really want to become a professional violinist player, then you can start as an adult and keep practicing for years and someday you will make it. Don't let people tell you how far you can go.

    WOW !!! You went so far in just 3 years and self taught. You had a very good intonation from the beginning, even in the first months. I've noticed in violin progress video people used to struggle a lot with intonation. Also you mastered the bow in an impressiv way, it goes super straight from your first tries (even if at first you used just a small part) and you're now able to do realised difficult bow strokes too. You look like you were not indulgent on yourself and tried your best to correct and fix any problem you could have. I guess that's how you reached this ease after a few years. I'm curious what was your "lessons plans" over the years. How did you get that far, it seems that your progression went faster and faster over the time.
