Oak Trapdoor: Stops the Opponent from moving is countered by the stonecutter & enderpearl
Any Orange Block: Gives a luck buff is countered by any carpet
Pumpkin wall: Takes the sun allowing new warps such as the end warp and the deep dark warp. Countered by certain warps or daylight sensors
Fire Warp (end rod with a lantern on top) : Allows red, yellow, and orange glass walls to be played. Also gives the user a strength buff and fire resistance. Also if the sun is gone it brings it back and while the warp is placed the sun cannot be taken, is counter by Ice Warp.
Blue candle circle: Gives a armor bonus
Armor stand: Takes away any armor bonus’
Cobweb trap: Makes the opponent unable to move
Any coral: If the opponent plays this they are unable to play any other cards and must play this if you don’t have any counters the opponent wins although if you do have a counter you win.
Iron trapdoor: Stops any buff or effects when placed on a block, is countered by lever
Cyan carpet: Gives any buffs to you when placed on a buffing block such as orange wool.
Green carpet: Makes the buffs to debuffs
Glass wall: stops you and your opponent from moving and gives you a massive armor bonus, is countered by ender pearl (if used to get behind the glass wall) & brick
Pink, Black, and Purple stained glass wall: Stops both of you from moving and gives a health regen buff if it is nighttime or in an end warp, deep dark warp, skywarp, or mushroom warp
Lime and Green stained glass wall: Stops movement and gives the opponent poison if in the jungle warp or if the sun is out.
Yellow, Red, and Orange stained glass: Stops Movement and gives you fire res, and a strength buff if in the fire warp, nether warp, or desert warp.
Cyan, Blue, and Light Blue stained glass: Stops Movement and gives the opponent shiver dealing damage every turn if in the ice warp, ocean warp, or sky warp or if it is snowing or raining.
White banner: makes the sun always be out.
Orange candles: anything inside a orange candle circle has all of the buffs taken
Railway: gives you a speed boost can be used by opponent if they have a minecart and redstone torch
Cauldron: in the next move it will start raining if not countered, countered by feather or water breathing potion.
Ocean Warp (4 kelp blocks with a turtle egg in the middle): Allows cyan, blue, and light blue glass to be placed and makes any fire moves unable to be used.
Furnace: makes the opponent on fire in the next move if not countered, countered by a bowl with a smeltable item.
Prison trap: Makes the opponent unable to move, countered by enderpearl
Purple carpet: makes all of the buffs 10 less (if the buff is less than 10 say like luck 5 then the buff is nullified.)
Seed: Gives a hp buff and gives hp regen, is countered by a stair highjump
Desert warp (4 sand blocks with 4 soul torches on top): Give the opponent poison if they don’t drink a water bottle. Also allows red, yellow, and orange glass walls to be placed. Makes the sun infinite also allows the cactus trap to be placed.
Cactus trap: disables movement for the player stuck and deals 5 damage every turn they do not get out, is countered by an ender pearl or an ice warp.
Redstone: teleports the opponent to any trap placed on the board, if no trap is placed they get teleported to a random spot.
Sea lantern: allows a revive if ever died
Enchant table: gives you the enchanted buff which doubles your defense
Red candles: damages the opponent and nullifies the opponent’s buffs from the block that is surrounded by red candles
Gold block: Gives you a health regen and health buff and counters any purple blocks is countered by any purple block on top of it
Deep dark warp (bedrock with skulk sensor on top): always nigthtime and allows the user to place pink, purple, and black stained glass.
Magma block: deals damage to the opponent every other turn (the fire warp’s magma blocks don’t count) is countered by a blast furnace
Blast furnace: Gives a armor debuff to the opponent if not countered, countered by any smeltable block with fuel
Mushroom warp (4 red mushroom blocks around the player): this gives the opponent slowness and allows the user to place pink and purple glass walls
Brown mushroom block road: gives the user a speed boost.
Red bed: give the user a damage buff and nullifies any block under it
Diamond wall: Gives a massive armor buff
Sponge & water: makes the arena start storming
“Turtling up” (place doors around yourself): gives a massive armor buff but makes you unable to move for 2 turns
Lightning rod:deactivates any redstone (such as a lever and trapdoor)
Milk bucket: disables any buffs (not including warp buffs) if given to opponent or you can use it on yourself to get rid of any debuff (even warp debuffs)
Glowstone: Flash bangs the opponent for one turn
Ice warp (an end rod with a soul lantern on top): allows blue, cyan, and light blue glass to be placed. Also gives the shiver debuff to the opponent.

Amazing to see how well the pumpkin wall is and really goes to show how much of a solid choice it is, can’t wait to see the meta for the next season.

I was not expecting that. A pink coral countered by the trapdoor, countered by the lever, countered by the lightning rod trident method. He was 5 steps ahead doing the sponge water method to start a storm earlier in the match. The playerbase is getting alot better excited for season 3!

What’s the ip
As a Block Battles player who started around the start of Season 2, I hate to see the bed meta slowly disappear. It can cancel the debuffs from various warps, changes the time of day (only during night though, but it allows you to start INSANE combos), and essentially render the pumpkin wall useless. But now, nobody uses it anymore, as the mossy cobblestone brick is essentially a slightly better version of it. Also, for all you iron door turtle method users out there, IT'S EASILY COUNTERED BY THE ACACIA PLANK!

My strategy which got me to top 100 is ruined
I never played these two seasons, so it's a new thing to me! Luckily i figured out how to play now, I can't wait! Is a pumpkin wall difficult to obtain? Cuz i want to use it as my main strategy

@@ThePresidentialMultiverse Indeed! I saw that the Sculk Sensor is back so maybe we should start training the Deep Dark Combo that makes the other player get Darkness for 3 seconds and gives you an extra turn!
But vaulting brain cral and lever is just plain wrong. I hope the devs notice their mistake
This season went well, really excited for season three. Although I worry about the new ranks and what that'll mean for the top 100, maybe the skill gap will continue to rise this season but it'll be real interesting to see them play with brain corals vaulted. Can't wait
What’s the ip?
Broken Combo: The pumpkin wall removing the sun and the skull painting to give you the power of the moon. It consequently triggers nighttime, giving you a stealth boost. The only counters are the glistening melon, the spectral arrow or the fire warp. Following the counter, I usually like to play the milk bucket to remove the glowing debuff or the ice warp to cancel out the fire warp. Also during nighttime, the black block trumps all other blocks but is trumped by any coral fins. It's a niche combo that not many people know of and hence are unprepared to deal with but it really only works when you go first. It's not top-100 tier but its up there.
I went into randoms with this strat. Had the unluck of going against a top-100. He realized what I was doing before I could do it. Those top-100's are a different breed man.
Now I want a data pack that makes this an actual game mode

Everyone confused about the 3 banned paintings,
They were actually very op when released into the game where 2 of the paintings gave huge buffs and the other one making you instantly win.
Well they aren't fully banned from the game, they're mostly just banned on rank and league games, so you can still use them in casual play

Interesting too see how the increased player base has managed to change the meta, more people more combos I guess.
I think its great to see that the meta isn't around the coral-trapdoor-lever combo, waiting for the event for the waystone to get more luck on icewarps

honestly im worried about how op mobs are gonna be, matches are probably gonna be much faster and intense, im thinking the meta will definitively have a mob+jail sinergy, but im gonna miss paintings, they really gave a unique random feeling on the matches

Personally, my favourite strat this season is the Pumpkin wall to block out the sun and a painting on the wall. I was unfortunate a couple of time and got the whither. Hopefully this strat gets buffed next season and it gets adopted into the meta

Yo, I'm a veteran Minecraft battles player. The way this works is a health based system. For example: placing the purple bock will slowly drain players HP until they die, but it can be countered by the blue carpet, the blue carpet will stop you from taking DMG. for things like the 1% biome warps, you can use the paintings to get luckier and have a higher chance of them working. I fell short of the top 100 due to a painting giving me a debuff and my opponent ended the game with a brain coral and sea lantern method, was really close hope to be better next season cant wait
I feel you man, I couldnt reach top 100 because lightning didn't strike my lightning rod, so my villager couldnt turn into a witch, which meant i didnt get a good enough luck buff. If the witch switch gets buffed soon I might reach top 100 though. Good luck with hitting top 100 man!

As someone who is currently netherite 2 in season 3, I think I can give some valid opinions on my favourite highlights of each round:
0:29 | This was a beautiful hard but satisfying counter to the normally overpowered furnace play
0:51 | The jump from high ground is a technique that requires a lot of prep and is very unique as it uses the players body as the damage ( The Sky Warp was also really cool )
1:35 | The counter with the green and pink candle was smooth af
1:58 | The diamond wall was cool and expensive but the lighting rod strat is something we need to see more of and it was put to good use this round
2:27 | That chorus fruit play was very risky but it worked so well it has to be the highlight of this round
2:53 | The painting buff is something that is extremely rare but when it happens you know you are gonna win
4:05 | That cobweb play was the deciding factor in this game, really good play
4:42 | I wasn’t expecting the feather combo but it was definitely cool play
5:58 | I know this round was low tier, but that wither was hilarious
6:07 | This whole round was carried by that desert warp so obviously it is the highlight
7:50 | The flashbang was a very so smooth, we need to see more of it
8:16 | The lightning rod and trident combo was one of my favourite plays I have ever seen being used to counter the lever
8:34 | The ice warp is one of my top warps due to it’s versatility, combined with the smufing and you get a hilarious round
9:25 | Not much to say here, but the wither was pretty funny
10:12 | The nether star was super unexpected due its rarity but it was used perfectly this round
10:42 | This whole sequence was epic af
11:00 | The finals were intense but my favourite part had to the fact we had both a void and amethyst warp in the same game, extremely rare though expected out of players of such a high caliber

As a bronze players, I can confirm that u see a lot of people using paintings, since they like the risk. I like to gain a luck buff and then try to get the 1% sky warp.
I think that the Parrot will probably be the top used mob in the game because someone said that it will be able to give 99+ luck while giving the other person -99 luck and warps the biome into the jungle for some top tier plays

Block battles rules
Block battles is a turn based 1v1 game.
The game is played in a 8x8 grid. The same as a chess board.
Ranks:
Leather
Copper
Iron
Gold
Diamond
Emerald
Netherite
Amethyst
Max rank: top 100
Each move can either be a:
-Biome change: changes the biome in which the fight goes down in. Offering a lot of buffs and debuffs
-Block placement: the most common move, blocks can do a variation of effects.
-Structure build: this allows the player to place multiable blocks that when positioned correctly do something.
-Item use: A little bit rarer, but its when you use an item to combat your enemies move such as: milk bucket, enderpearl.
-Newly added mob spanws: because they are so new we dont have a lot of information on them but they appear to be similar to blocks, just they can walk
Aveage game:
The game will usualy start with a few biome changes each having its own chances of succses. Important to note there are many blocks that can boost your luck.
There is also some moves that are usualy played in the start such as: pumpkin wall, jail. Each one has its counterattacks such as sun biome change.
Within the endgame some more dangerous blocks start to be placed in order to actualy win the game.
There are a lot of blocks that can be placed we do not have enough proof to realise what all of them do but here is what we know:

Furnace: you loose if you dont put something in that it can smelt.
Lever: removed, was the most common counter to iron trapdoors.
Green wool: will kill you if you dont counter it.
Gold block: counters the green wool.
Purple wool: counters the gold block. Will kill you. Can be placed without other blocks. Removed in newer seasons. Added in even newer seasons. But nerfed.
Seeds: recharge your hp. They can be destroyed if the enemy jumps on them.
carpet: counters attacks. Only a counter block. Grants insta win. Unless they place copper stairs.
Glowstone: works like a flashbang
Emerald blocks: forces the enemy to go towards it if they get a villager egg.
Cobweb: makes the other player go slow.
Bed: clears bed debuffs.
Weathered copper stair: only block to counter the black carpet.
Sponge with a water potion: starts a storm.
Paintnings: removed in never seasons
Seaside paintings: extra turn
Night painting: loose turn
Bust painting: freezes ur upponent for 2 turns.
2 guys fighting: strenght boost
Skeleton in the thing: teleports you to the neather.
Wither painting: insta loss
Pool painting: 99 luck
Bonjor painting: 99 curse
1x1 paintings will not be couvered here.
Sunflower: melts snow.
Snow: enemy player cannot move.
Brain collar: newest meta, its like the old purple block. Removed in newer seasons
Collar: common attack blocks.
Horn collar: counters brain collar, needs a lot of luck.
Preassure pad: counter attack to the metal doors.
Stone cutter: slices 1 block tall walls.
Armor stand: takes away the opponents armor.
Iron trapdoor: also only a counter block. Can be opened with a lever. If it does get countered you loose.
Sea leantern: basicaly a totem of undying.

STRUCTURES:
jail: stops the player from moving. They must use a item to escape. They cannot place blocks next to themselves. Made by surrounding the enemy with iron fences.
pumpkin wall: blocks the sun, gives you luck. Built by making a pumpkin wall.
Daylight sensors: counters pumpkin wall if you place them along the wall. Brings back the sun.
Turtle up: block yourself up with doors. Grants protection until countered.
Candels: they bring you back to the ground in case of a sky warp.
Railroad: the player can move in a mimecart.
Glass wall: a wall that prevents potions and traveling through it.
Diamond wall: very expensive, effects unknown.
Crimson door wall: unkown effects.
Metal doors: traps enemy player, like the jail but un-escapable with enderpearls.
Ender rod with a lantern on top is the combo to cancel the snow biome.
In newer seasons is a firewarp.
Trap door wall: prevents opponent from coming to the other side.
Blue cande circle: gives you armor.
2 redstone: 1st redstone teleports the player to the 2nd redstone. Useful for traps.
Cactus trap: a trap of cacteye.
GLASS used for defense. Basicaly a wall
Normal glass: bad players use this
pink black purple glass => pbp glass works well in the night time, sky biome, end biome
lime and green glass => lg glass works best if its saturday, or in the junglewarp
Yellow red green => yrg glass works best in biomes with those colours. Pros use.
Cyan light blue and blue =>cbb glass works best if its raining or in biomes with those colours.
Lighting rod: can be used as a counter to the trapdoor works only if it is struck by lighting.
Anchor trap: 4 anchors in a circle. Commonly used with it is redstone so the opponent gets teleported to the trap.
Piston method: place a piston next to the block that has been blocked and power it. If it pushes the countered block you win because the counter is no longer on top.

BIOMES:
Desert biome changes biome to desert.
Built by sandstone in the floor and a soul torch ontop. Effects unknown.
Desert warp(newer) 4 sandstone and a soul torch. Countered by drinking a water potion.
Amethyst biome: 1% chance. Built by 4 amethyst around a dragon egg in the ground.
Portal warp: redstone clock with 3 repeaters. After 3 revolutions will warp you.
Ender rod with a soul lantern on top is the snow biome.
Ocean warp: 4 kelp blocks with a turtle egg in the middle.
Mushroom warp: 4 mushroom blocks and then just drop down the middle
End warp: 4 endstone with a item frame in the middle in which there is a eye of ender.
1% chance of succses.
Book warp: a booksheld with a lectern on top.
Void warp: 4 full black banners on 4 blocks of coal and then just break the middle.
Amethyst warp: 4 obsidian 1 block above the ground and 1 amethyst in the middle.
5% chance.
Sun warp: a torch with a campfire on top.
65% to work.
Lamp combo: power a lamp and it will bring back the sun.

Invisibilty potion: makes you invisible.
Milk: when dropped at a enemy removes all potion effects.
Villager egg: drop it into the other player and he will go towards a emerald block.
Golden axe: time travel.
Chorus fruit: teleportation
Water potion: counters deserts.
End star: most op, when dropped at your enemy he gets struck by lighting that does a lot of damage.
Biome break: undoes the warp.
Cookie: counteres allay.

Full blocks are usualy attack blocks and if they are not countered you win. Especialy coral.
Orange blocks give you buffs.
Not full blocks can usually be used as counters but if they are moved or opened
