    It was an 18 ton truck with a single axle, 26 ton would have a twin axle. Not a 40 ton😂

    It's a shame that this cuts off early and doesn't mention the outcome of the investigation. Pointless video.

    Adrenaline can mask internal injuries and pain symptoms for quite a while. It’s why they err on the side of caution when treating patients in this scenario.

      They talk about opening the Motorway quickly, but the crash barriers should be repaired first. As a similar accident could occur in the same place, or do they cordon off the center lanes and reduce the speed limits further.

    Looks like this is 2009-2011, miss the good old days of car diversity before the silver, black and grey German cars and SUVs became everywhere

    Used to have a VW Passat and joked in a head on with a truck, the truck would come off worse it felt so safe. Really glad the drivers were okay!

    So we need stronger barriers so lorries can't get through.........no?

  • @ANDREWLEONARDSMITH

    The central barriers are obviously NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.THEY MUST BE STRONG ENOUGH TO STOP AN HGV DEAD IN ITS TRACKS OR AT LEAST STOP IT FROM CROSSING OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE There is no point in having central barriers if they are not doing their job properly They need to be HIGHER & STRONGER & TOTALLY INPENETRABLE SO NOTHING CAN GET OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE WHY ARE CENTRAL BARRIERS NOT BEING BUILT TO THE CORRECT STANDARDS ?

      why don't you report it to the 'highways england' ??????

      Quite simply because of cost and feasibility. We already have some very high taxes, whilst our roads are some of the safest in the world. Indeed, many countries don’t have dividing barriers between carriageways, just grass verges.
      The dividing barriers are designed to divert a vehicle which ‘side swipes’ the barrier, but not a head on collision - for any vehicle let alone a lorry. The nature of motorway collisions means that it’s very unlikely for vehicles to hit the barriers head-on, but it can happen.
      I’ve been to another collision where a lorry has broken through a crash barrier. That was a ‘head on’ strike to the barrier too and funnily enough, a parcel force lorry as well. Perhaps they train their drivers differently …

    It wasn't a 40 ton "lorry" as stated in the audio, it was a truck known in Australia as an 8 tonner, it would be legal to carry 8 tonne, so I assume the UK would be similar.

      @bumpkinrocks Месяц назад +1

      3 axle rigid, so would be a gross viechle weight of 26 tonnes.

    • @cun7sathome
      @cun7sathome Месяц назад +1

      It was a 26t lorry

    • @mikes8155
      @mikes8155 Месяц назад

      8t will be the max cargo load.
      The weight mentioned is likely in referral to the total gross of the vehicle itself.
      As other comments have stated, it's a 26t lorry. But it depends if it was fully loaded etc.

    • @bumpkinrocks
      @bumpkinrocks Месяц назад

      @@mikes8155 no the payload would mostly likely be well in excess of 12 tonnes depending on the specs of the lorry. The lorry certainly wouldn't be 18 tonnes unladen 🤣
