So what was your Biggest Mistake when you started Knife Throwing? Let me know :) PS: At the AceJet we have now a BLACK FRIDAY Everything is with 25 % Discount: www.acejetofficial.com/
Buying cheap knives. Even medium priced knives are mostly no good. You want knives that are 6mm thick at least. Even though Adam is now a greedy capitalist all things considered his knives are the best deal I know of and I speak as one designing his own knives and getting them from laser cutters. Unless that is whatt you want to do as a hobby I do not recommend this approach.
Most importantly: beware ricochets. Be very careful when throwing from short distance, avoid throwing at uneven targets. If you throw at a standing dead tree, you will mostly get ricochets to the sides away from you. MOSTLY. If you throw at a fallen dead tree, you can very easily get a ricochet off the upper curvature of the trunk and the knife will come straight back at'cha. I've tried this, lots of blood and a few stitches. Safety aside, my biggest problems have been lost throwing items. I've started to add brightly colored tape and/or paint on my knives and shuriken, and I always keep a metal detector handy. The metal detector has saved the day countless times now, but the bright colors have made the detector unnecessary even more often. I've also recently switched from dead trees to simple homemade targets. Just a wooden sidegrain board made from normal planks, so much better than trying to find the perfect dead tree in the perfect indisturbed location.
Just yesterday threw my knives at a tree from a few feet away and to my surprise it ricochet right back at me with the same force I threw it at. Hit me right in ribs but luckily it hit me with the bold side otherwise I would have punctured my lungs.😬
Only had problems with ricochet with cheap knives at close range. Never lost a knife, and I've always practiced at dead trees. It's quite obvious that you shouldn't throw those things like playing darts, but anyway.. Good tips for beginners is too always wear ample clothes cut resistant, and cheap working protective glass, and a beanie to protect your head, even in summer. This way I've never hurt myself. Never throw uphill also, THAT can be seriously dangerous, but it's quite obvious also.
How crazy is it to think back to your first videos years ago, and now you are the most famous knife thrower on RUclips, and maybe even the world? Im glad to be a part of that journey.
I wish I had found his content sooner. I think I first seem him on Jeorg Spraves channel as I shoot slingshots. After watching some videos recently i thought id have a good and its good fun.
My knives are just to light I’m planning on going to knife works in Tennessee to buy better ones though if I don’t find one probably gonna get one from Ace Jet ;))
Great advice man. I totally agree with what you said about not mixing techniques. Stick with one set of knives and whatever technique you like best and master that before moving on. 🤘🏻🔪
Rope dart is my primary skill for ten years. And the one I've been using most is a throwing knife. But in my years, man I have thrown everything. Silverware, chopsticks, nails, stars, spikes, screwdrivers, and all kinds of knives. I got my whole family into knife throwing and you were the main thing I showed them for ideas. I made many of these beginner mistakes but I will keep improving. I am getting your knives soon. And maybe someday you and I will throw together. I am also a lefty. 😊
today i received fins and appache and 1 stinger gift thanks adam for the beautiful knives specialy fin is amazing i cant wait go to my mancave to launch the torpedos lol
I've started throwing with the small hibben set knifes that you showed. The bigger sets (in size) are muuuch better. Specially the Tanto one. Small set is good for short distance spinning technique, but wayyy too light for long distance throws.
Unfortunately when I started throwing, when I was very young, there were no videos (no such thing as RUclips) to watch and I threw between three live trees. Was good practice because their proximity was consistent, but yeah, if I knew better I would have made a target. You live you learn, but I had fun and learned a skill on my own, with good knives and cheap knives.
On the point (pun) of throwing nets and back drops to retain your items when the target is missed, I've had good luck with moving pads. They're cheap, available at most hardware stores, and if you double or triple them up and drape them as a backdrop, they're dense enough to catch your items and deliver them to the ground/floor more gently, they're tough enough to take a lot of abuse. And the price is low enough that it doesn't hurt to tear them up. The only draw back is that they can be a little small.
One more hint: keep the knives in boiled linseed oil (rust protection). If you throw in the woods add a light ribbon in a neon color. It makes them much easier to find once they have embedded themselves in leaves or in the soil. Has saved me a couple of times.
I just bought 3 knifes off amazon for $40, so about $13 per knife and im hoping that they are good quality, but i just want a hobby that i enjoy that is cheap and i can spend time outdoors doing it, and hopefully i can be really good at it one day

Adam is probably one of the easiest people to learn from. Not only is his positive and cheerful. His insight is invaluable to the beginner. Got say my mistake was buying WKTL first set. Apparently they didn't make them very well.
Great video, Adam. My mistake was thinking that no spin knife throwing was near impossible and only in the movie's. I learned no spin from watching your channel and now I practice it almost exclusively. Knife throwing took on a whole new dimension of fun and challenge for me. Thanks so much brother. 👍✌
Just wanna say your videos helped me a lot. I'm working on the no spin technique. And before I went from not sticking much of anything and breaking the tip off one knife. To throwing with confidence and sticking it 95% of the time.

@@AdamCeladin I have been using a set of Aeroblade Skyhawks As they are the heaviest and most durable that I own. I'm on a budget so I have to be a bit thrifty.

Not really mistake but: I have stated with 120 Grammes Smith&Wesson - half spinn at 2 meters is possible because of inertia , but for no spinn flyiing stability is too compromise.
This video helped me a ton. My biggest mistake was definetely overthinking about the details, that you've told in your tutorials - especially the wrist ( not bending it during the release ). I was so focused about not doing it, that I overstiffened it and I can't still figure it out, how stiff is too stiff. Tell me, is throwing the knife in some ways similar to throwing for example a ball ( without bending the wrist etc. ) ? My worst mistake is definetely the envirorment, that I live in - there's high grass everywhere, the ground for any target stand is uneven, so after 5 minutes it collapses etc. Thanks for mentioning those targets made from trunk or dead trees. I want to obtain those soon. And lastly - thank you for everything, that you do. Maks from Poland
Love these vids! I recently discovered your channel and now I've ordered a solid set of knives and look forward to beginning to learn! Thank you for inspiring me!
I've been throwing knives since I was about 13/14.. My first set was from Gil Hibben love his knives and axes and well within my budget then. Still use the set today as well as knives I have made myself
Great advice mate, I'm still searching the leaves for my gil hibbens lol. 2 hours passes so quickly when I'm practicing my no spin throwing. Thanks adam 👍
My mistake so far would be expecting to be able to throw from a good distance straight away. I can only seem to throw no spin well the other styles im useless at. So maybe when my stinger comes i will stick to no spin for a while
funny, it's been the complete opposite with me. Only recently after a year+ of regular training do I seem to have gotten the hang of no spin. With the spin techniques, it doesn't really matter how you throw, if only you can throw in that exact same way every time (of course easier said than done). Then it's just a matter of finding the correct throwing distance. Maybe try with a simple hammer grip like for axe throwing, that's a good way to easily get a consistent release every time.
I started with a relatively cheap 3pc set of 5mm thick 13.5 inch Cold Steel Perfect Balance throwing knives.. $70 shipped to my door three years ago. They are still some of my favorite knives.. Tomahawks are fun too.
Throwing knives are a scam. 300 for some steel, You could literally get a nice sword for that. You could pick up a literal gun for the price of a set of throwing knives. SCAM. I can go have a sword made for me by hand for 300 dollars. You cant pretend like the knives take anywhere as near the craftsmanship material or time. Scam.
What I still do often “wrong” especially in the beginning is throwing to fast take your time between the throws no one is pushing you. But on the other hand when I started to be too theoretical and to brain focused it helped me sometimes to put my throwing speed frequency up or down to get a different feel or to just get out of the often problematic over thinking process while throwing. Maybe that helps someone :)
Thank s for yours tutos.. I m a beginner, and yes I was trying to learn different tecknics at the same time... But, what about learning throwing knife, but as well axe, shuriken.. Even as beginner, I think it s okay, but I would your answer please, Master...

Thank you Mr. Celadin for all you do for the sport.
Unfortunately all i have is a cheep pair. But do want to get good pair. I always wanted to lean bow and arrow, knife throwing, nunchuks, sword, and get really good at shooting and fighting/ defensive. Im a black belt in TKD but started late in life and really want to get in even better shape with body building to help with my martial arts. Im 41 now and i actually had an older guy say when we get older we need to slow down like we are just supposed to lay down and die. I want to try to be a bad ass till the day I die and continue to improve as much as I can till I do lay down and die.
i'm tired of hearing you hypocrites talking about live trees, if you have a car, a house, a wooden table or cabinets, fly in a plane the best the you can do is keep your mouth shut a live your life.
I'm going to do some ax throwing soon, I've done it years ago in the woods to great success. But can you do an ax-throwing tutorial, so possibly improve my skills?
another tip, play with the weight of the knife, see were it balances, how it feels and remember how the knife felt leaving your hand when you make a good throw and replicate that muscle memmory

@@AdamCeladin haha, I just want to get better and have a BLAST Adam, the Stingers are my absolute favorite, next, Avenger Arrows, the excalibur, then Daggers, then Hornets, but the Hornets are in a class of their own, so cool, and had mini Arrows on order, I'm stocking up while I can, haha 😹 but soon my money runs out, but these last a lifetime !!!
Dude sorry to hear you had a sh+t tome with cancer love your videos your likeable and seriously talented

i'm tired of hearing you hypocrites talking about live trees, if you have a car, a house, a wooden table or cabinets, fly in a plane the best the you can do is keep your mouth shut a live your life.
Ceiling tiles work great. Whatever that white foam/plaster material most buildings and offices use.
Who are the 9 haters?
Adam is amazing, has fantastic content, and is a pro. If you don't like his videos, you are daft.
Thanks for advice that gonna help me so much 🥰 👉
I'm going to do some ax throwing soon, I've done it years ago in the woods to great success. But can you do an ax-throwing tutorial, so possibly improve my skills?
Of course i will do axe throwing videos soon as possible ,))
@@AdamCeladin thanks bro
🗣️ thanks to master Adam Celadin i can practice my self with dart board.....
I just watched a video from 3 years ago your English pronounciation has become far my friend👏
another tip, play with the weight of the knife, see were it balances, how it feels and remember how the knife felt leaving your hand when you make a good throw and replicate that muscle memmory
