Looks like you had some fun with this one. The stand you are cutting on is called a "Workmate" here in the US. What are they called in the UK? Worktwastards?
    Cheers,
    Tom

Based on watching this earlier this year and plenty of research I decided to go for one of these and I love the thing. Don't do so much fabricating as I did but have taken on jobs I would not have done before and ending the day without a lungfull of dust from long sessions with the 9" grinder makes it worth every penny. Aside from the savings in cutting discs, it's quicker and reaches the places a disc just can't reach. Not a great fan of the spring clip guide, doesn't always run smooth on certain jobs but that is my only gripe. I've used one of their mig welders too, cracking machine. And last but not least they are a great firm to deal with.

I have the same problem with the spring clip guide but whilst there must be a better option. Not found it yet lol

Great set of videos John. Your 5 mil plate 10 inch hole comment made me laugh. Lived in Florida for 20 years now where they only talk Imperial but everyone I talk to back home (Bolton) now only talks metric. I am stuck in the middle like your comment :)

A Nice machine You made it look easy to do. But I am sure with practice anyone can learn how to operaate this It looks as well built as the welder

John, I like the swivel feature on your circle cutter, saves having to walk round the plate when you are cutting. I see a project coming up.

Thanks for the review! I'm actually thinking about buying a new plasma cutter. My current one's broken and a guy has been trying to repair it for a year without success... I'm thinking about the 30 amp version though, as I don't have 32 amps 1-phase available. I do have 3x16 amps though, so a 3-phase cutter is also an option. Hmmm....

I don't suppose you have used this with stainless have you? I've got an r tech welder and very happy with it, I'm looking at buying one of theese but just curious how it handles stainless

      Hi
      Mine is 100 litre
Your 25 litre would do the job but would be running all the time
      Thanks for watching

    Hi John.
Excellent review, and like some others said, I reckon they ought to let you keep that plasma cutter for the great promotion you've done on their stuff.
I also MUST say after all the videos I've seen on youtube, "what a fantastically BRITISH video this is". Only a British video would have someones washing out on the line. Excellent stuff.
We didn't get where we are today by NOT being British eh John?
    Regards Mark in the UK

Hi John, is not the pc aided plasma cutter of Keith Fenner, but this stuff makes a good job too. :-) I would have one of this. And I like the "hand aided" circle furniture. Good video as Always.

Great demonstration video. I may have to sell something to get a plasma cutter. - I've got a 200 amp stick welder, you know the one where the rod sticks to the work. LOLOL - Looking at a 3 in 1 welder. Does TIG, MIG, and Flux Core Wire welding.. Hope you have a great day , it's 10:30pm here so it should be 03:30am there.

That's impressive how it goes through that 1" steel and the rest of the bits.
R-Tech should do the right thing and let you keep it, John. You've done your part to promote their product well. And hey, they have your videos on their page: www.r-techwelding.co.uk/reviews.php

+doubleboost His name says it all. For all he knows you may have it full of water to drive out any gas prior to making a gas bottle stove. Its what I do with them after removing the gas tap. Some people say carefully drill a hole in the bottle but it only takes a tiny spark and whoof. Though of course a variable speed drill going slow and sharp does work. I've heard people say leave the tap open for a week but fact is gas will sit in the bottom of the bottle. Removing the tap and filling with water is the most reliable method of driving out any remaining gas.

Fred196407 - Where I used to work, (Gov. Facility) it almost took a declaration from GOD to dispose of an Acetylene Bottle. Because of the asbestos materials in the honeycomb inside the bottle, and the fact that it is hard to remove all the gas, there were too many hazards associated with disposal. The valve had to be opened, the plug in the bottom of the tanks removed, then purged with an inert gas like argon for several days.

Cyclist twit - Don't insult my friend. To insult someone in the comments, is a chicken S#!T move! As for you, I wrote your name in my book, then marked it out with a Sharpie, you will not be remembered.
